Lol it was a joke. But the problem is, with the amount of money Bay, Cameron and Drew would be making, he'd realistically had to start them. You don't sit 7 million on the bench unless they suck.

If you were Terry Francona, and you had the following OFers: Bay: .900+ OPS last year, 30+ HRs, 100+ RBI. 15 million salary. Cameron: .800+ OPS last year, 20+ HR, 80+ RBI.Elite defensively. 7.5 million salary. JD Drew: .900+ OPS last year, 20+ HR, 60+ RBI. Elite defensively. 14 million salary. Jacoby Ellsbury: 770+ OPS last year, 8 HR, 70 SB. Questionable defensively. League minimum salary. Who do you realistically sit? Oh, and by the way, "silly" is not a proper response.

Mike Cameron is a better offensive and defensive player, and Ellsbury could get more AB's than Cameron as a 4th OF. He wouldn't sit neither Cameron nor Bay, specially with Cameron making over 7 mill. Besides, Bay would probably DH against lefties, with Ellsbury going to left. There're a million ways to sort that out, and none of them has Ells as a starter.
