  1. Oh man, Soto was my favorite Dominican player. Now I have to hate him.
  2. I think my math sounds better? 2 WS, 3-4 playoff runs besides that. The other years last place finishes. Keep it spicy.
  3. I like HOPE. I also like championships. This team has provided both in spades since 2003.
  4. He's not over-analyzing anything. Both of them are right on point. I'll take two championships and three more trips to the playoffs plus the rest of the years being last place finishes every day and twice on Sunday. Pointing out the hypocrisy of the crowd that spent 30-40 years waiting on a championship to immediately turn into entitled whiners is not incorrect.
  5. Which is why I made the caveat. You have to assume any and all pitchers will lose at least 1.5 years of any contract.
  6. The way market rate is going, 225/7 is not going to be a big deal for an above average starter (which is his floor) as soon as 2025.
  7. That's my opinion. Everyone here is welcome to disagree.
  8. Unliklely unless health related.
  9. It's a good case study, but the two are completely different animals. The main issue with Yamamoto is injury risk, but the difference in stuff quality is wild.
  10. Pretty ridiculous post all around. They can draft whatever type of players they want, then turn them into impact players. Their inability to develop pitching isn't the problem, it's their resistance to drafting for upside then trading for need, as teams like the Dodgers, Rays and Astros do.
  11. And if a horse had a horn it would be a unicorn. They spend. Spending stupidly was the problem in the first place.
  12. My more conservative offseason is Montgomery/Clevinger/Duvall/a body for 2B
  13. Yama San/Montgomery/Renfroe/Tim Anderson (bounce back candidate), is my perfect offseason.
  14. Would be a waste to not work on increasing RPM on a fastball with that velocity and break potential. He could definitely work on a sweeper-type slider.
  15. Absolutely disagree on Mayer's ceiling. But his floor is lower than what rose-colored glasses evaluators would lead you to believe.
  16. Fastball spin, and that's not particularly easy.
  17. No, it is not. But they usually get exposed on a run through the playoffs. Which is why they add high-quality gloves around the edges of the roster. But teams with awful defense have made deep runs.
  18. Alex Bregman ain't walking through that door.
  19. Whatever. Back on topic: The Cardinals managing to sign Gray to such a short deal is not very encouraging.
  20. Then don't come to an internet baseball forum where the whole point is to present opinion-based arguments.
  21. He's not nitpicking. He's pointing out clear inconsistencies in your thought process. Be consistent.
  22. I like Cease, but not that much.
  23. Not even if they sign all three. Too many question marks still.
  24. Because of this point.
  25. This idea doesn't make any goddamn sense.
