  1. It's not a pipe dream if Henry wants to do it. That's literally the only obstacle, and he has reasons to actually want to do it now. Namely, if they don't make a splash, the cash cow status of this team will be damaged. It's all about the bottom line.
  2. I'd quit following baseball before turning into SBF.
  3. Are we talking about the owner for the A's? Let's not get carried away here.
  4. Lugo? Y'all serious? Who cares about Lugo.
  5. You know how much they care about your look at the Red Sox if they outbid the field? Zilch. Zero. Nada.
  6. And/or Mayer unfortunately.
  7. Isn't it MetLife or some s*** like that?
  8. Can you at least make an argument that makes sense?
  9. He probably brought that opinion from another website focusing on "Red Sox Nation" or something.
  10. He has a worse payroll situation and the Mets really need to reset that team. It's not that simple. Cohen has all that money, yet the Mets were cutting payroll. Make it make sense.
  11. How in the hell do you know?
  12. Because if he doesn't spend on the product, it will hurt his bottom line. The fanbase is restless and the team is sucking. He will feel it in his pockets,
  13. So what? They have enough money and payroll space to sign Yamamoto if they want to. Are you implying Henry doesn't have the money to sign whoever the hell he wants? Because that's silly.
  14. The Red Sox have outbid the field when they're really interested in a player, multiple times. The problem isn't whether if they can outbid the field, because they're in a great position to do so. It's whether they want to.
  15. Manny, Nomar, AGon and Beckett were traded.
  16. Yu Chang is my spirit animal!
  17. The deferral plan was brought up by Ohtani, not the Dodgers. Ohtani is crafty, man.
  18. He was better at one time. They may be betting on fixing something to get him back to that level.
  19. We can after they sign some pitching.
  20. Couldn't care less about "the look". What matters are results. He could spend all offseason talking about his love for transsexual clowns and his reptilian activities, but if he signs say, Yamamoto and Montgomery, no Red Sox fan would care.
  21. All fair points, but I'm always weary of Coors field products regardless of their away numbers. With his size, I thought the problem would be moving off the position due to weight gain in his early 30's, but I'd be lying if I said I thought he'd have all of these health issues.
  22. The biggest reality check for John Henry, if this offseason is another failure, hinges on the fact that there are no more scapegoats. He fired Bloom, so who's he gonna blame now? They're under the lux tax, so why can't they spend? There aren't any large, long-term contracts on the books, so what's the long-term payroll holdup? The farm system is pretty stacked on the position player side, so why not cash in some prospect capital to get legitimate upgrades? There are no more excuses. No Chaim, no bloated payroll, lots of expiring (or nearly expiring) contracts, and prospect capital. Time to act.
  23. Ohtani's an amazing investment for the Dodgers. If Henry still had some balls, he could've ponied up the money. Then again, it's clear his desire was to stay on the West Coast. It's widely reported they didn't even call Cohen, who might have given him a billion bucks.
