  1. Did you actually read my post? I wasn't talking about 2011, i was talking about him coming to Boston as a FA, which there is an extremely high possibility of him becoming. I never once mentioned anything about a trade, but dispelling the "he's not coming to Boston" statement, seeing as that's probably going to be the Sox' number one 2011 priority with Ortiz quite possibly moving on.
  2. So there's no chance that Adrian Gonzales, who's a FA in 2011, with the Sox having a convenient opening in their lineup and money coming off the books comes to Boston? I wonder when that was set in stone?
  3. Vladimir Guerrero splits 09-10: 1st half OPS: .734-.919 2nd half OPS: .844-.748 Unfortunately, his stats over the last two years claim otherwise, he's been a victim of inconsistency, and he had a bad end to this contract year. The 30% amount you pulled out arbitrarily. My actual point: Vlad is not worth 11 M, Ortiz is not worth 12.5 mill, however, it was necessary to overpay Ortiz to keep him on a one-year deal, but he's still more valuable than Vlad. They are equally awful defensively, regardless of the position they play, which is inconsequential when directly comparing their values anyway since they're both DH's.
  4. I've always liked Olivo. Besides his good D and ability to hit for power, he can actually run really well for a Catcher.
  5. Except that's not what was implied. The point is that Ortiz should receive better compensation than Vlad on the basis of a stronger season, now that is obviously not 3/30, but it shouldn't be 1/11 either. IMO, 1/12.5 (his option) seems perfect from a time/money standpoint, because even though aging no-field DH's are not making a lot of money these days it's better to keep his bat (which would still be difficult to replace) until next year's crop of FA bats. Just my two cents.
  6. 7. Voice of reason! And let me try this again: http://newmediachatter.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/can_t_we_all_just_get_along.jpg
  8. Homoerotic dance moves at their best.
  9. The best part, for me, is Pau Gasol actually showing a face other than his "I'm going to bitch for seven minutes now, because that was totally not a foul" face.
  10. I can't stop laughing at this goddamned thing haha.
  11. Epic props to both Ital and WB.
  12. What the f*** is your problem dude? This is an interesting discussion, and even if some name-calling and crap are thrown around, there's no need to take this personally. Jesus f***ing Christ.

  14. Then stop trolling the thread. What the hell does the Browns "beating the last 3 SB champions" has to do with anything. You continue to pull this annoying s***, have been called on it several times and now want to play victim. STOP IT.
  15. "Water, please don't be wet" is the exact equivalent of the request you just made.
  16. Morals of the story: When walking in the snow: 1) Wear a snowsuit. 2) Don't take deep breaths. 3) Don't wear glasses. I've got it!
  17. Incorrect, it was created in the 1800's or some other time period when you were alive but i wasn't.
  18. I'm buying a shitload more stuff for the cold!
  19. Currently, the most aggressive draft and international talent spender is the Pittsburgh Pirates franchise. Not the Royals, not the Red Sox. It's a model that small-market teams have begun employing much more aggressively after looking at the sustained success of teams like the Twins and Padres (to some extent) and the rags-to-riches story of the '08 Rays. SCM, it's illogical to think a team with so much talent on the way in such a weak division won't reverse their fortunes in the next couple of years and vault into at least respectability. And that's the reason they should sell high on Greinke right now (just not to the Sox).
  20. Well unfortunately that's how patents work. And US patent No. US3987718 agrees with me. But i'm wrong, and this is "google fail" since i wasn't alive when the patent claim was made. Oh well, such is the life of whippersnappers such as MCcarver and me.
  21. Minced beef can be traced so far back as the 15th century, the "Hamburg steak" or ground beef patty was invented in Germany in the 18th century. But the "Hamburger" or ground beef patty sandwich , which is what MCcarver was referring to, was invented in 1904 in Texas. But thanks for the input.
