  1. Good call.
  2. I would still take Lester over Buchholz. Just like I would still take Brett Anderson over Trevor Cahill on Oakland's staff. Buchholz and Cahill are good, but not as good as their ERAs would suggest.
  3. Pretty hard to win the Cy Young if you're not a strikeout pitcher. King Felix is doing exactly what he did last year. If his win-loss record were the same as last year, he would probably be the frontrunner. But as it stands right now, it's wide open. I'm leaning towards Cliff Lee myself. Not the best record (won't hold that against him), but his 13.73 K/BB is just ridiculous. For a reliever, it would be insane. For a starter, it's unheard of.
  4. I'm not saying it's ideal to have three catchers (two with 1B eligibility and two with an OPS above .900, btw), but if you think I'll drop one of them and let you have one for free, you have another thing coming. Meanwhile, you have Jason Kendall, so I guess you're good to go. Never too late to change your mind, SFOC. We still have a little over a week before the trade deadline.
  5. Make a counteroffer, then. We could always put together a package deal.
  6. Yep, Pedroia back on the DL. Sox can't catch a break this year. Better luck next season.
  7. I've got 3 elite catchers, boys. Napoli and Soto (comes off the DL on Sunday) are available. If you want to stand pat with Jason Kendall and Carlos Ruiz, so be it...
  8. True, but check the splits. He's not just a Petco Product.
  9. Mat Latos has done it. Hellboy will be better than Hughes, if he isn't already.
  10. Looks like Harper signed with the Nats.
  11. You may not like it. Certainly, you don't have to like it. But there it is. He will be in pinstripes for at least another 3 seasons. Will he be worth his salary? That remains to be seen. Maybe if you factor in his intangibles...
  12. He'll get a 3 or 4-year deal. No question about it. His numbers are well below his career norms, but they're still pretty good for a SS. Plus, he puts butts in the seats. NWIH do the Yankees ever let him walk.
  13. Good to see they were able to get Workman.
  14. If you've still got room, I'd be interested. Never played Fantasy Football before, but you know I'll at least be active.
  15. Crawford is better than Ellsbury, and unless you want to see him in pinstripes, the Sox should go after him and send Ellsbury packing to San Diego for relievers. It's a great opportunity to upgrade the outfield and the bullpen. I'd also like to see Lee on the Sox. Could have and should have got him last year at the deadline instead of V-Mart.
  16. Crawford would help this team soooo much more than Napoli. You get Crawford and you deal Ellsbury to the Padres for Mike Adams/Luke Gregerson/Heath Bell and some low level prospects. You get Napoli, move Youk to third, keep V-Mart behind the plate, and the defense takes a big hit at the corners. And like I said before, Napoli's production would be average to possibly below average if he's at first.
  17. If the Rays are dumb enough to move Hellickson to the pen and keep Davis in the rotation when he comes back, the Sox will gain some ground.
  18. Happy for Bullington. Former top pick finally gets his first win - and it's against the Yankees, no less.
  19. Kelly took a huge step back this year. I wouldn't hold my breath with him.
  20. That's not a bad idea.
  21. Fair enough. He does bring it on himself, I suppose.
  22. Come on, dude. "ARod breaking out" is accurate when he hits 3 HRs in a game. Bust Jacko's balls if you must, but it serves no purpose when he's right.
