    I mean they all should be spending more, I never disagreed with that, but especially someone like Henry, in a big market, worth a ton of money, and owns basically everything Red Sox related that gets revenue. There really isn’t an excuse for him to not spend and and keep the Red Sox star free agents, such as Xander and Devers.

    Every owner? Maybe not. The guy who owns the 3rd most valuable MLB franchise in John Henry? He absolutely should be spending more than most teams.

    I mean he saves payroll, sure, but he wasn’t a big impact player anymore and letting him go instead of paying him $18 million makes sense

    They also brought back Kershaw, signed Sydnergaard and signed JD Martinez and are expected to be heavily involved in the Ohtani sweepstakes next off season. And I’m not really sure id consider Bellinger much of a loss.

    That the thing is, money doesn’t matter to them. Even after giving Betts his extension and taking Price contract, they still signed Freeman. Money doesn’t matter to these rich people, they’re in a different tax bracket

    I agree with this, and I did actually like Downs, but still hated the Mookie trade. Most people hated it at the time, but when the “top prospect” in the deal busts, it makes it way worse. I think David Price somehow gave the Dodgers more value as a relief pitcher than Downs gave Boston, which is absurd.

    It’s a few years away from officially happening, but Fenway Sports Group has been considered the big favorite for Vegas team for awhile.

    He’s too busy getting an NBA franchise in Vegas with Lebron James.

    And it’s definitely noticeable. I frequent Camden Yards and PNC a decent amount and it’s rare to see stadiums even half filled, especially with orioles/pirates fans. It’s majority opposing team fans.

    Exactly. That is partially why teams like Pittsburgh, Oakland and Baltimore don’t care, no matter how bad they are, they’ll make a profit and there is no ramifications for not fielding a competitive team.

    I mean the Red Sox ownership could be doing the same thing, it’s on them. All these owners are rich and with the money they want to charge fans at the stadium, the team they are fielding should be illegal.

    Good for Steve Cohen. It’s actually refreshing seeing one of the filthy rich *******s spend all his money and want to win this bad.

    All the owners should be held to a certain standard. It is a miracle fans continue rooting for teams like the Pirates who make 3x as much as they spend in just television deals, and make a ridiculous profit each season, while putting together some of the worst rosters we'll ever see, never pay any stars, ship them off when its time to pay them and rinse and repeat.

    It happened in 2015, he was cleared a long time ago, and well before the trade. The media just brought it up and labeled him an “off the field risk” when realistically he’s done nothing, he didn’t even do anything that night, he was at the wrong place when something horrible happened and was questioned.

    I mean it sounds like something absolutely awful happened to that girl, but I don’t see any evidence supporting Verdugo directly did anything Or had any involvement.

    The Washington Post reported last year about the incident, though it didn't name any of the players involved because no charges were filed. A 17-year-old girl accused one player of posting a video to social media of two other girls beating her. She later alleged that another player -- not Verdugo -- had sexually assaulted during a night of partying at a hotel and that she was raped. The suggestion was then made that Verdugo had not stopped the second assault, though there's no evidence to support he was even aware it had happened. "I have regrets obviously what had transpired that night with certain events," he said. "There was an investigation and like I said, I was cleared of anything wrongdoing, and if I was around for anything that happened, I would've put a stop to it. I would've helped out. I would've done something. There's a lot of mixed reports about it. I just felt like this was a good time to get my truth out and how I am. It sucks, but we're going to work through and keep getting better and we're just going to keep going on."

    I’m aware of all those guys, and know Julio Lugo was in trouble shortly before his death for kidnapping, and beating his wife but I have no idea what this underage kidnapping story is or who it’s about
