  1. I worked with a guy who pulled his dick out in front of a 16 year old girl, and sent texts literally trying to convince a teenage boy to rape a girl and when he wouldn’t do it, the guy asked for the address so he could “finish the job”. He didn’t get arrested and the cops didn’t do anything.. This guy got another job, and just got arrested for sexually assaulting a girl at his new job. Some people don’t deserve second chances, even if “innocent” in the criminal justice system. Aren’t Deshaun Watson, Aroldis Chapman, OJ Simpson and Miles Bridges “innocent”?
  2. I have no idea how Ozuna keeps getting more chances…
  3. In the cases of guys like the aforementioned Vazquez, Russell and Roberto Osuna, a lot of times teams do make the right decision and not give these guys another chance. Hopefully the same happens with Bauer
  4. Felipe Vazquez is an absolutely disgusting individual. I hope he rots in prison.
  5. Exactly. Pham and Bauer aren’t even comparable “issues”.
  6. In Phams case, it’s not nearly as bad as the two other things being discussed. It was a fantasy football argument that escalated. It is what it is. That is a case of getting a second chance that I think is deserved. In McGuires case, I think it was done to get rid of Diekmans contract, and again, neither of these things are comparable to Bauer. Signing Bauer after what he did and with the Dodgers agreeing to pay him 20+ million to go away, says a lot. It shouldn’t be done and I doubt Red Sox do it.
  7. Sure, in pro sports guys get second and third chances they really shouldn’t, Deshaun Watson is the perfect example. He got traded for three first round picks and received most guaranteed money in NFL history. It was also done by a franchise known to be moronic in the Cleveland Browns, by an owner considered a scum bag. That doesn’t mean Bauer deserves a second chance even though it won’t surprise me if he gets one unfortunately. However, I don’t want that chance to be in Boston. I also don’t think the acquisition of Pham had ANYTHING to do with Betts. Betts was traded almost three years ago now, and Pham was acquired to be a platoon outfielder last trade deadline. Those two things aren’t linked Mcguire trade was more about getting rid of Diekman than it was getting Mcguire. Mcguire is a backup catcher, that’s it. I don’t think these guys off the field issues have anything to do with why Bloom acquired them. He wasn’t actively scouting people with off the field issues and trying to get them cheap.. and If he was why would his targets be platoon outfielders and a backup catcher?
  8. As much as I’ve criticized Bloom: I don’t think his thought process for acquiring Pham and Mcguire was “hey, this guy got into a fight over fantasy football, his value must be low” and “this guy jerked off in public, I bet I can snag him cheap”.
  9. This comparison makes no sense. I don’t want to defend McGuire but it was a victimless crime and he’s not even that good. He’s been a backup catcher his whole career and him masturbating didn’t hinder or advance his career. Trevor Bauers situation completely hindered his career. He beat and raped an unconscious women and received multiple years of suspension and what he did is so heinous that dodgers are willing to eat his contract to have him play for another team (if he plays again).
  10. As someone who worked with a sexual predator “who was good at his job”, I don’t want this guy anywhere near the Red Sox. Having someone like Trevor Bauer around kills morale and the way he defended what he did to that women by saying “I didn’t hit her that hard” and “I didn’t hit her that many times” is disgusting. I don’t care if he pitches like prime Pedro, he is not the guy I want to root for. I hope he never pitches another game. Or better yet, I hope he signs with Yankees and has worst year of his life, gets rocked in every stadium similar to Deshaun Watson for Browns, and gets called a rapist, gets cheap shot by opposing players, and has to deal with trash being thrown at him and deal with all the chants of “no means no” “you’re a rapist” and everything Deshaun has dealt with this season while he’s struggled
  11. He can go f*** himself.
  12. You can be unhappy Xander left, unhappy Story signed and and still be happy Devers is in the long term plans.
  13. That doesn’t mean Xander is the more valuable player. Look at the ages of both guys and the trajectory both are on/have been on.
  14. And wasn’t named the closed next year due to how bad he was. He’s been an average to slightly above reliever his whole career with an extremely small sample size at closer due to no other choice. He isn’t a real closer.
  15. Barnes was also taken out of the role due to his struggles after being an “all star” the same year.
  16. I’m not sure I would consider Robles and Barnes closers, both were coming off very underwhelming years and are extremely inconsistent
  17. So you basically just admit you are going to complain no matter what? How can someone be mad at Sox for letting Mookie and Xander go, but also be mad they re-signed Devers?
  18. It would be pretty shocking if Padres gave Xander the money they did, but then decided to not pay the younger and better player in Soto.
  19. He's one of the only guys I'd ever even consider paying that much money. He just turned 24 and already has multiple all star appearances, a batting title, world series ring and before turning 24, racked up 125 homers and has been on base over 1100 times. He had a "down year" last year and had a WAR over 5 and OBP over .400. Plus, I imagine the banning of the shift and the potential for automatic strike zone will help a guy who has one of the best eyes the league has ever seen.
  20. Someone is going to pay Soto an absurd amount of money, will it be Boston? I doubt it, but someone will. He’s accomplished an absurd amount at such a young age.
  21. Baseball contracts are pretty cheap compared to NBA/Soccer deals. All the highest paid athletes are pretty much soccer, NBA, or even golf and tennis
  22. Gotcha. I was wondering how Devers would be higher than Trout.
  23. Also, I didn’t know MLB had signing bonuses. I thought that was just an NFL thing.
