    I would go with Degrom, assuming health. He hasn’t really fallen off at all skill wise, it’s just he can’t stay healthy.

    Also fully agree. The decision needs to be made ASAP. Either trade him, or give him a big extension. Letting another star walk would be insanely stupid.

    I agree with all of this. Typically, if you want someone back, you don’t let a bidding war ensue, especially with what teams like Rangers did the previous off season

    I doubt Paxton or Sale last the whole season, so a 6th man rotation would likely turn into a 5 man rotation anyway

    It essentially sounded like they wanted him back… but only below market value on a cheap team friendly, and at that point, how much did they really want him?

    People switch positions all the time and Story looked legitimately good playing 2nd. I wasn’t big on the Story signing and still don’t really get it, but if he is a good 2B and it keeps him stay healthy, why move him? Based on every comment the front office has made, it sounds like Story was signed to be a 2B, granted, I would take anything they say with a grain of salt.

    It just makes no sense. It doesn't sound like they had any plans of bringing back Eovaldi or JD and clearly weren't making competitive offers to Xander, so why hold them for a 1/2 season with no shot of making playoffs? Just dumb.

    If the Red Sox had got under the luxury tax at the deadline, they would have received picks 70 & 71 in the 2023 Draft for Bogaerts & Eovaldi. Instead they will receive picks 133 & 134. They also miss out on ~$1 million in additional bonus pool money going off 2022 slot values.

    It’s pretty foolish to blame Bloom but not blame Henry IMO. Its clearly a group effort

    Not really funny. I think most people frustrated with Bloom are also frustrated with Henry.. Both are getting a lot of blame and they’re usually lumped together

    That’s my biggest gripe. There isn’t really a clear direction. This clearly isn’t a “win now” team and if you knew you weren’t re-signing Xander, JD and Nate, why keep them and let them walk? Why then make moves like signing an old closer in Jansen? Very confusing

    Dodgers are another example. They buy a lot of players but also always have prospects coming up and contributing. You can develop your farm while still keeping stud players on MLB roster

    I don’t blame you. I usually try to have a positive outlook on the season, especially before it even starts, but there isn’t much to be optimistic about right now

    Deshaun Watson was also “cleared”. I wouldn’t want Watson on my team and don’t want Bauer in Boston

    Sure. However, Sox went over the luxury tax without even paying Betts or Xander and instead paid a worse player in Trevor Story a decent sum of money. Then they followed this up by having a s***** season and not selling at the deadline. Additionally, If they wanted to avoid losing picks, why not sell players like Nate, JD, and even Xander If you know you aren’t re-signing them? Even if the return isn’t great, it’s better than getting nothing for a player you plan on losing anyway. The trade deadline was frustrating and sent mixed signals, and this off season has been more of the same. The Red Sox are currently projected the 16th highest pay roll and an extension to Devers seems less and less likely. Following this all up with Bloom and Henry making stupid comments about “doing everything they can” to keep Xander ans “building a championship contender” is also all ******** and is extremely annoying to hear as a fan as well
