  1. Is he really good enough to worry if someone claims him or not?
  2. No idea, I haven't seen the guy play that much. I would have thought Overbay would be in the lead for 1B, but who knows.
  3. That's almost how I see it shaping up thus far. I think Bard makes the team and there could be a trade of Aceves or someone from the BP for a bat to help if Ortiz is out for an extended amount of time. But I wouldn't be surprised if Bard just started out the year in AAA.
  4. Good homework there SFF. If he's not ready to go on opening day then a 15 day DL stint vs all those LHP won't be too bad. The real worry is if he's out into May.
  5. Ridiculous huh? The knee jerk reactions around here are hilarious. "Greatest Pitcher evuh", next start "what a f***in bum..." Rubby needs time in the minors. It seemed fairly obvious even during his good starts. Bradley can come up at the end of April or May and most likely not cost a year of control, look at Trout and Harper's call up dates. I think TB waits an extra month just in case with Myers so there is 0% chance they lose a year. I think if Ortiz is out the first month they will cycle Napoli, Overbay, Gomes, Nava in 1B/LF/DH until Ortiz gets back. If Ortiz is out past April then I can see Bradley coming up for LF duties and Gomes platooning at DH.
  6. I'm really starting to think any long term big money contract is not worth it, even for the better pitchers in a game. The contracts can turn to disasters so quick. Seems the check up was routine for Grienke. But this is now in the back of all Dodgers minds for the whole season.
  7. The team still own his rights. I assume your question stems from the Chipper Jones to the Yanks talk. I believe Atlanta would have to trade his rights to the Yankees. He would be free to sign with any team next off season.
  8. Ya I read that too and cringed
  9. This is why some of us have been saying all along DLR needs time in the minors and shouldn't be rushed into the rotation after one good outing in ST.
  10. So your selling on the season already before even seeing what this group can do together? Ok well you have no reason to be back on here until October. See you then.
  11. lol thanks Fred
  12. Fair point I just lie to see his offense game refined a bit, Sox have a couple capable SS's right now. But I wouldn't be upset to see him in Boston this year.
  13. Woooot walk off sac fly! Nederlands!!!!! Horns are blaring all over my neighborhood lol
  14. imo he's not ready offensively. Those first two pitches he swung at were bad pitches His discipline needs to be better. He's going to be a good player, still needs some seasoning though.
  15. For those interested Bogaerts is coming up in the bottom of the 9th, tie game, runners on 1-2.
  16. That sums it up so beautifully
  17. I thought I saw 5-7 days?
  18. LOL couldn't have said it better myself. It's like they get no enjoyment from anything team related and just expect misery. It's the older generation for the most part. I guess if I had been watching the team shoot itself in the foot for 50 years I'd have a hard time being anything other then a grumpy old man. It's like the team won for awhile and these people lost their identity or something. Now they over compensate during a bad stretch for the franchise and feast on everything they can in case the team gives them nothing to be miserable about in the future.
  19. Ranks usually go off upside more then ML readiness. I would say it's fair to say Bradley is the more ML ready prospect at this time. But like you said, Bogaerts has the highest ceiling.
  20. Every player takes a physical. That's like saying his deal was contingent on him signing it with a pen...
  21. ST is all about building up actual game strength and staying healthy. It's gloried practice. ST stats mean absolute F all.
  22. 2/26M and 1/11+ 550 PA for an everyday DH vesting option for 13M isn't comparable? classic
  23. Seriously? No one got hurt, Hanrahan had a great inning, Doubront looked strong. I would suggest curving your expectations for ST games.
  24. And when it's one it's not that big of a deal If they did it for every nostalgic case, then it becomes in issue. Like I said before, this is one of the only things some have to gripe about. Which with all the teams ? pre spring is probably shocking to them. So they are clutching to the Ortiz issue are hard as possible. Ortiz will be an after thought as soon as someone else steps up and gives them something to latch on to.
  25. Yes I'm sure that was part of it. It also doesn't look good if you dump the face of the franchise to save a couple million dollars while in the middle of trying to rebuild the teams image. The Yankees are saints when they "take care of their own guys". Red Sox do it for one guy in like a decade and some people turn rabidness lol Another part is he was still producing at a good level. That and there was no clear replacement for that production in Ortiz's price range.
