  1. It's also interesting to note the DLR would be ranked higher then Webster and Lee had he not barely lost his prospect eligibility. So Fred your correct in saying they didn't send us their best SP prospect. Theoretically they sent us their 2 best SP prospects
  2. Ok ladies and gents, time to roll out your extremely unlikely to happen predictions for the Divisions for 2013 for everyone's entertainment and opportunity to ridicule Do as you please, just divisions, add win projections, playoff teams, what ever melts your butter. Well for the first time in a long time I don't feel there are any clear favorites. Every team has some issue or another or if your a Yankee fan you have a laundry list at the moment(sorry jacko, meh, others of the Yankee ilk). So without further blabbing here are my predictions surely to make me look incredibly smart or incredibly stupid... AL East 1. Rays* 2. Red Sox* 3. Jays 4. Yankees/O's 5. Yankees/O's The Rays have the best SP and have some good young players that could make the offense solid. I think the Red Sox have a good atmosphere around camp and that will set a positive tone for the season. The Jays brought in a lot of talent, but a lot of baggage came with that talent. I'm guessing it's doesn't gel this season. I see the O's taking a major step back, they added nothing and let's be honest, that one run W-L record is coming back to earth. The Yankees have issues all over and I feel(not a Yankee hate prediction) that they will have a similar down season as the Sox did last year(less the drama). Which will lead to them revamping the team next off season and they will be right back in it next year. But this season they are battling the O's for the basement. AL Central 1. Detroit* 2. Guardians 3. Royals 4. White Sox 5. Twins AL West 1. Angels* 2. Athletics* 3. Rangers 4. Mariners 5. Astros NL East 1. Nats* 2. Braves* 3. Phillies 4. Mets 5. Marlins NL Central 1. Reds* 2. Pirates 3. Cardinals 4. Brewers 5. Cubs NL West 1. Giants* 2. Dodgers* 3. Diamondbacks 4.Padres 5. Rockies Good luck to you all, some of us will need it  edit: I changed a couple of mine, I had a couple teams reversed from what I intended
  3. Those are all good points. But I don't see them winning the division. They won the off season this year and that hasn't worked out well recently for those teams. They brought in a lot of talent, but brought in some baggage along with that talent. When the Division predictions comes out I'm picking them 3rd. They have talent but I don't see it gelling for this season.
  4. Yes it's too early. Usually the last couple starts is a better indication on velocity. Pitchers are starting to amp it up then. But still ST radar guns seem to be pretty inconsistent across the board.
  5. I read Carlos Lee and Aubrey Huff's names being floated around. You have to think Lee would be capable of adding some pop to line up.
  6. Even after 8-10 weeks, he's not very likely to be 100% at any point this season. For the WBC's sake, it's lucky this happened in a normal tee drill and not in a game. If it had happened in a game people would have gone ape s*** even though it's no more of a risk then regular ST games.
  7. That's what I like about it too. As far as the main players I want them in, get there work in and get out.
  8. No, I saw a 5 min recap on one of our sports stations here. They cover the Red Sox a little more at the moment because of Bogaerts. I took what I saw there and what I read from the box scores and took into account what time of year it is and then added that all up for my earlier response to your question
  9. a700 is going to bag on Wright for sure(which I don't disagree with). Wright did bad enough to surely have gotten the a700 scowl from wherever he was seated
  10. He threw today. Gave up a run. Wasn't as sharp as last time out. Wright got tuned up, Lester wasn't terrible.
  11. You guys don't get Jacko. He is smart and is very aware of the worrisome situations on his team. And he's hoping it works out for the best. Pretty much like any fan. If your trying to get him to completely sell on his team this early, your just wasting your time. And of course he views things differently for his team and the Sox, duh. He is a Yankee fan on a Red Sox board. He's never going to crap on his team and fluff up his rival lol Dealing with Jacko is like dealing with Si Robertson from Duck Dynasty. You have to decipher which parts of the story(post) are unbiased fact(his actual baseball knowledge) and what's just for entertainment.
  12. I just read it on MLBTR. It's really too bad. Hopefully he is able to go on and live a reasonably normal life. Good luck to him.
  13. I can sum this thread up in about 30 secs: Thoughts: They suck, Cherries is a baboon testicle, Stevie Wonder could scout better talent, Observations: Everyone is slow and fat, Cherries wardrobe is questionable, I'm not sure he's a real GM or a monkey in a suit. Pretty sure I saw some of his goons bag and tag someone who asked "where did all the money go from the LAD trade?" Hot dog prices are outrageous... /thread
  14. And it has absolutely done that. People here have really started to follow it, WBC makes the news and the papers. There are signs up and people have their colors on and are really following it here. For Americans I can see why it's not that big of a deal. But it is having a positive effect around the globe IMO.
  15. Not that big of a deal since none of them are ready to take over rotation spots anyways. In 1-2 years when they are ready, there will most likely be spots and/or spots could be made easier at that time. You also have to consider innings limits. Neither DLR or Webster have logged enough innings to be counted on for 180+ IP(typical SP) right out of the gate. If they started in Boston both would probably be maxed out or hit the proverbial wall by July-August and will most likely be shut down. And if they aren't shut down they will be making a jump in IP that will raise red flags for possible future injuries, something I'm guessing the Sox won't do. Especially since DLR hasn't been back a full season from TJS.
  16. The game times have been crazy because the locations are spread out across the world. I think it will get better when al the teams come to the same region.
  17. This guy Abreu for Cuba can flat rake. Sweet swing and looks like a lot of pop. The announcers said he hit 32 HR and knocked in 93 RBI in like 60 something games. Despaigne has big boy power too.
  18. The Tigers seem to rush a lot of their pitchers to the Majors.
  19. Yes it was his first offense. But it's a huge one. It's like a guy picks up a loaded gun and fires it into a crowd. Amazingly no one gets hurt. It may be the first time he's done it, doesn't mean he should't be punished. I agree that I hope he is able to learn something from this and maybe help someone in the future avoid this insanely stupid mistake.
  20. Wow that would be a major blow to the offense. I was waiting for the Division predictions thread to pop up to call it but this makes me think even more that the Yanks are going to have a rough season(similar to the Sox last season less the drama) and they will battle the O's for 4th place this season. That's just my baseball view of it(this isn't a Yankee hate post). But would I be surprised if they some how pulled it out and made a run? No lol.
  21. That's a good point. I think Texas is going to be the one that gives Lohse his pillow contract and they looked in on Porcello to see what the cost was.
  22. I wouldn't mind that at all. But they would have to move someone from the rotation. In the end I think they sign Wilson and have a closer by committe until someone steps up or Wilson is ready to go. Also Texas is in on Porcello too.
  23. He's about the same. Laid back, not going to say anything controversial, so therefore makes a boring interview. I don't think it should be a knock on the guy.
