  1. Who would you have replaced him with?
  2. While no offers were made officially, the general consensus from everything I was reading at the time had Ortiz having no problem finding a 2 year deal on the open market, with some predicting a 3 year deal if it got down to 2 teams that really wanted him.
  3. Ya it's been nice to more of a look at him this spring. Looks like he's got some potential.
  4. Fair warning User, 700 is looking for anyone to go back and forth with these days. He even skipped his " you need x amount of posts before I respond to you" gig so he could get lead around by a Troll for a couple days. Better to just skip him, at least that may help avoid a meltdown on your 1st weekend back.
  5. Of course! That and they should have premonitions of this happening and structured the contract accordingly. I mean it's not like anyone else would have signed him, oh wait.. The usual suspects were going to look for something to bitch about. This just gave them about the easiest target to show the FO for the boobs they really are. The Pitching staff, Drew, Napoli, Vic haven't given them much negative to pick over. As soon as one of those starts to falter, Ortiz's situation will be left alone.
  6. Japan is hitting bombs left and right vs Netherlands....
  7. Doobie looks like he is working on the secondary stuff tonight. His change up is looking good.
  8. I'm thinking with all this questions popping up about Ortiz, Thome looks like a good plan B. I suppose Rolen would make a decent DH at Fenway too.
  9. Team Italy may not have a lot of ML players, but their coaching staff is full of ex ML players. They are well coached.
  10. This is what people forget or just don't understand when looking at ST Pitching performances. Pitchers are typically working on a specific area of their arsenal, certain locations of their pitches, or just flat building up their arm strength. Pitchers are not "pitching" like they would during a regular season game. The fact he pitched that well only using FB's it actually a positive sign.
  11. What? There are no roster restrictions, so it's not like they are short staffed. It also gives young players an extended 2 week look from the ML managers and coaches that they may not have gotten otherwise. They get to see some MLB level opposition along with players from their own levels. I actually can't think of a better low stress situation to put them in.
  12. Hard to argue that, especially since it's the only one he used for his whole career.
  13. Interesting article, http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/red-sox/post/_/id/25305/soxprospects-depth-on-the-mound
  14. Exactly. Like I've been saying he could use some time in the Minors. He's thrown like 100 IP the last couple years. He's going to have to build up his innings. He's probably going to be on a strict pitch count/innings limit this season. He may have the ability to be in Boston now, but he won't be able to help the innings load much. Webster is probably #1 in depth right now. He has a much bigger chance of helping Boston this season IMO. It's funny, this time last year Barnes was the guy most of us were looking forward to seeing in the next couple years. It seems Webster and DLR have completely overshadowed him. Is he even in camp with the Sox?
  15. hahaha good stuff
  16. Nail on the head. Dude has been a beast his whole career.
  17. I'm honestly kidding around. I'm like the least hostile person here
  18. ok, that was funny
  19. Great there go a bunch of possible trade partners for Aceves in the Mexican league
  20. Glad your ok, was thinking we might have to say your name 3 times to get you to show up Welcome back to the s***
  21. Yes you and a few choice others saw there was hope for him to recover and we got mocked pretty hard for believing it . So I'm just returning the favor to all the idiots who couldn't evaluate a pitchers ball sack, even if it was sitting on their chins
  22. He should def get the same treatment Also after he retires #42 is officially retired in full around MLB.
  23. Wow, he found his velocity after having the winter off to reset and refocus. Who would have thought?
  24. Most of us probably had a decent feeling this would be his last season. Still weird to actually consider this is probably his last hurah. Dude has been a pain in the ass of Sox fans for well decades now. Still. I have the utmost respect for him. He's always been a great competitor and a class act.
