  1. Bogaerts will be in the top 20. Side note: MLBTR has a piece up about the Rangers being interested in Bailey. Pure speculation on my behalf but if the Rangers are serious maybe some sort of deal can be worked around Bailey for Moreland. He's a solid LHH to compliment to Napoli and Gomes. It also gives the Rangers a spot for Olt. Just a thought.
  2. He's not the only guy to point to that as an issue. The excuse was valid for Paps and many others. Or is it only valid for P who had good season the year before? idk I don't see it as impossible it's hard to get up for a AA game when you've been a high leverage late inning reliever in the majors. Yes he does have issues to iron out, but part of it could also be he's the type that needs that extra kick in the pants to get everything flowing.
  3. So if you don't like the team your a grouch? Ok you do realize you just admitted to being a "fair weather fan" right? back peddle in 3..2..1..
  4. I'm a solid 5. I'm usually right in the middle but for every thing I get uber excited about there are things I will kind off poo poo, so that evens out. I follow each season closely but when it's over I move on fairly quickly. Usually because it's football season
  5. His velocity is back close to where it was but he is struggling to find a rhythm. I believe he went through the same thing when first trying to convert to the BP from being a SP when he was coming up in the minors. I agree that he should get more time to sort it out in the minors. He has options and power arms don't grow on trees. So sticking him in AAA this season to see if he sorts it out is not a big problem.
  6. Ya he would be less likely. I always manage to forget about him.
  7. I think it be easier to list the players they wouldn't deal, Lester(still possible, less likely) Buchholz Pedroia WMB Doubront Ortiz(at this point I think he's more valuable to the Sox and their fan base then he is to another, so it wouldn't make a ton of sense) Vic( his is a 3 year deal, may be harder to swing and they probably want to keep him around with the youth movement that's likely to happen in the OF). I imagine everyone else on the ML roster would be fair game given the right return.
  8. Why are you mentioning the offense of the past two year? There like 3 everyday players from that group currently in starting roles. Did you stop watching mid August? The offense had penty of work that needed to be done this year. Are you seriously calling Lester and Buccholz pitching to career averages(which is what they need to do for the rotation to be good) a miracle? I guess I will never understand that thought process.
  9. I guess the biggest change in my view of Yankees fans pre 2004 is, if you told me you were a Yankees fan you were an ******* first and I asked questions later. Now, if I meet a Yankee fan it's less hostile lol I still tend to make anyone wearing Yankee apparel at our training's run extra
  10. lol so true, if he has a sub 5 era it's a win
  11. It was basically a Hollywood script acted out in real life that's how unrealistic it was. I still watch all the highlights and documentary's and have to remind myself they do win because it all seems so unlikely.
  12. I called my mother(the reason for my Red Sox madness ) right after the last out just to listen to her run around the living room screaming. That is probably my fondest memory. As for on the field I remember more about the Yankees series then the actual WS. Like dojji said perfectly, game 7 was a euphoric feeling like no other. They played the ESPN 30/30 special "4 days in October" the other night, still a great watch every time I see it It's kind of mind blowing the 10 year anniversary is next year.
  13. I would like to see them get Porcello. Is Lackey's ERA really 9? I've only seen a couple starts and they didn't seem that bad.
  14. That's another way to look at it.
  15. I don't see having a defensive whiz at SS while having Middlebrooks and Bogaerts bats at the corners as a bad thing if it came to that. Iggy looks like he's going to get a shot with Drew out. We will just have to wait and see what he does with it.
  16. I've got Ohio st beating Michigan. It was just too good to pass up
  17. Yes all his tools are solid and he looks like a well rounded player. What we haven't seen is how he holds up over the course of a long season and if he's mature enough to make the necessary adjustments that are needed to stay producing at a good clip. I'm also of the view that if he's up he needs to be playing. I don't see the upside in having him as depth as the 4-5 OF. I never said Gomez was anything special. I just thought at the time(no Napoli, Overbay or a 1B in training in Nava) were on the depth chart and I figured it wouldn't hurt giving him a look instead of overpaying for someone on the market. When the other guys came on board I felt it was less necessary to give him an extended look.
  18. Ya but Jeter is what? 8 years older? And his injury was different. His ankle just became so brittle from wear and tear it just broke. I honestly can't recall how Drew broke his, for some reason I'm thinking it was a slide. I agree Jeter is going to play, that's just who he is and one of the reasons I respect him so much. But if he's not capable of going back to back days without swelling he's going to be needing that DH spot and he doesn't put up typical DH numbers, thus effecting the overall lineup like it was mentioned earlier. I agree with you about Tex, that's pretty big deal too. 3 or 4 years ago I probably would have been laughing at the Yankees situation, but being in a similar mash unit situation with the Sox over the past couple years I have a hard time busting you Yankees fans around here too much. It sucks, I know. By no means is the season over, but it's going from an uphill battle to a vertical climb quickly for the start of the season.
  19. He really has been impressive this spring. I'm looking forward to seeing him in Boston whenever he gets there.
  20. So after one retroactive DL stint all will be well? Like it or not this is something that's going to be with him all season. It's not going to get better the more he plays on it. Maybe if he was a DH it be different. But he's an everyday position player. If Drew was out with a hurting ankle instead of a concussion you would be saying the same about him and he's 2 years removed from surgery, not 5 months.
  21. Couple loud outs from Ross and Sweeney.
  22. I agree, Wang is just the kind of guy your looking for when searching for pitching depth. If he is on board with a minor league deal then I'm all for it.
  23. This year is so wide open, I don't like anyone way more then others. The first round is a mine field lol
  24. Well that helps enlighten the whole situation a bit more. Pitching with a cut on your hand blows, It's like sticking your finger in a fire every pitch.
