  1. Via Peter Gammons. Doesn't sound too bad to me. I don't know that much about Gallagher, but I have heard a few good things. I'd take him + a C prospect or something.
  2. So is he just a RP now, or are they still planning on him being a SP?
  3. Buchholz looked strong today. Macha is very boring but smart. Ellsbury is really starting to heat up. Overall, a nice day of baseball for the Sox's so far:D
  4. I agree, Theo should wait until he gets an extremeley good offer for Coco. If Coco becomes a problem in the clubhouse, then thats another story.
  5. I don't have a problem with them holding onto him or trading him sooner rather then later. Whatever helps the team the most. The one trend i'm noticing with Coco tho is, everytime his name pops up in ther rumor mill( most recent was a couple days ago with the Cubs showing interest), he all the sudden has a small nagging injury and is out of the line up. The things cool on him and hes back in there playing. This all could be coincidence, but its becoming annyoing. This guy has more physical issues the Drew, and thats saying something( I have no issues with Drew, just using him as a reference). If Coco has half a brain he should realize that Jacoby is the present and future CF for the Sox. And should shut up and do what the club tells him, and collect all his guranteed money. He needs to get over himself, yes he played great CF D, but he was brought in for offensive purposes as well. The Sox didn't hand Coco's starting job to Jacoby, like they did with Pedroia. They have given him a fair shot at trying to reclaim it. But with his bat MIA, and all his nagging injurys( I think its the hamstring now) preventing him from being that elite CF, hes lost his spot fair and square. Suck it up Coco puff, your on borrowed time. You might as well play hard when given the oppurtunity, keep your mouth( and your agents) shut and maybe you'll get some other team to give you a starting spot in CF. As far as I concerned, he should be the 4th OF and thats it...
  6. Theres no reason to rush these guys. The Sox rotation and BP is pretty much filled up at this point for the forseable future. You could move them up, but there going to be blocked eventually. Let these guys marinate where there at, let them become absolutely dominate at there respective levels, polish the secondary pitches and gain confidence. So when they do hit the next level, theres a few less bumps in the road. Besides let them pad there stas, if the Sox decide to trade them, they will probably bring more back LOL
  7. Carter might have a better chance if he was a RH power hitter. But be LH, Fenway deminshes his only real big asset. He will sit in AAA unless the Sox absolutely need him, most likely he will be dealt in part of some deal. With Lowrie showing he has just as good of a bat as Lugo, and there D being pretty similar, does anyone see the Sox eating some of Lugo's contract and giving the spot to Lowrie and see what we can get for him? Lugo+Coco+Carter(Sox eat 1/2 of Lugo's contract). That might bring in something decent:D
  8. Holding on to Crisp right now is the right move. Wait until someone really needs a CF and Theo will probably be the 1st they call. I only say move Coco sooner then later if Theo is absolutely blown away by an offer(MRP+Hi Level prospect, something of this nature).
  9. What I gathered from last night's game: The Sox still look sluggish on the most part. This was to be expected so I'm not too worried. - Wang had a great game, no question. He's always been a top tier pitcher in the regular season. Wang on his game + cold Sox bats ment the Sox where looking at a long night. - Papi is lost right now out the plate and could probably use a couple days off while working in the cage. Manny can DH and Jacoby can pl LF for a couple games. Having the AB he is having is doing more bad then good at this point for his confidence. - Buchholz had outstanding moments against a deep hitting Yanks line up. He showed the wildness at times you expect from someone his age. That curve ball is something else, and change up is very deceptive when its kept down. When its up it BP. His fastball was sharp and hitting its spots for the most part. He looked good. - Overall for a Yanks vs Sox opening season series game it seemed kind of flat. Probably do to the crap weather.
  10. Aardesma for 1, Manny for 3 outs then Oki comes in against Overbay for the final 2 outs of the 8th, then depending on the score leave Oki in or bring in Paps, that could be what he was thinking.... Just a guess....
  11. It's starting for me around then too, where are you?
  12. Melky IMO might develop a little more power, but I think what we have seen from him is going to be the norm. Cano on the other hand could break out to be a superstar. I hate that he is on the Yanks, but he is a stud at 2B. He def has a chance to improve over last seasons numbers. Also like Jacko said, the Yanks are counting on alot of kids in the pitching department, so like he said it could go either way, should be interesting.
  13. Mariners are going to be a good team this season( Bedard/Felix is probably the best LHP/RHP combo in the league.), and Oakland could be a thorn in the Angels side. LAA looks to have some major chinks in there armor.
  14. The media for the most part are worthless with predictions. Look at all the idiots who thought that NY would bull doze evryone in the PO in 06. Then after the Yanks pulled the one and done, they all jumped on Detroit and said they would steam roll threw the rest of the PO. They also said St. Louis had not shot to overcome Detroit..... Thats just one Post season. For the most part, go to the media for trade and FA stuff. Never listen to them on where they think a team will finish or who is better then who. The season is 162 games long, theres no way to for see everything. We all have fun with our predictions, but we take it with a grain of salt. Most likely the Sox and Yanks will be seperated by 3 games give or take a game. Both have injury issues, age issues(both ends of the spectrum). Don't get too worked up Gom, you might give yourself an ulser. There still the whole season left:thumbsup:
  15. Not to nit pick, but isn't Lester 24 and Buchholz 23?
  16. Crawford, Dunn and Vlad are the only ones I'd take. Vlad could play RF for the Sox and move Drew to LF. But I would have to imagine that the Angels will hold onto him. As well as the Rays withy Crawford. Dunn could go anywhere. Id take Crawford over the lot, but I see the point with having so many LH bats in the lineup. I think if Manny puts together a .290 28+HR and 100+ RBI he will get the extensions.
  17. Ellsbury has more pop then people give him credit for. Manny in a contract yr is def do to have a bounce back year. Drew had a down yr so if he gets back up around his avg. then he will be close. Besides there only predicitions. I don't claim to be Nostrodomus.
  18. Varitek: .260/.360/.410 15HR, 65 RBI Youk: .280/.390/.460 19HR, 75 RBI Pedroia: .295/.375/.450 9 HR 65 RBI Lugo: .265/.340/.360 7 HR 55 RBI Lowell: .285/.370/.400 17 HR 90 RBI Manny: .305/.390/.490 33 HR 110 RBI Ellsbury: .300/.350/.420 15 HR 60 RBI Drew: .285/.380/.415 15 HR 80 RBI Ortiz: .295/.420/.530 42 HR 130 RBI Beckett: 19-5, 3.45 ERA, 1.15 whip, 180K Matsuzaka: 17-7, 3.95 ERA, 1.30 whip, 170K Lester: 15-10, 4.25 ERA, 1.40 whip, 140K Wakefield: 14-12, 4.6 ERA 1.40 qhip, 120K Buchholz: 12-7, 4.00 ERA, 1.20 whip, 130K
  19. Ya I agree, MLB better pony up. They most likely will, I'm sure they have alot already invested in this Japan thing. If the Sox stay home, MLB looks like a bunch of knuckle draggers...
  20. Ya they get 3 extra players. I'd expect Lowrie, Brown, Buchholz(if Colon starts), and Moss to be sent to AAA as soon as team returns.
  21. I would just like to take time to thank all the little people out there who made this possible. If not for them, I wouldn't be able to except this award. This award is for all those out there that have had there arguments dominated by a well spoken statistical anaylsis. By me receiving this award, its now possible for them to see that even tho they have been owned, there still a chance for a positive out come. Thank you all, thank you.
  22. I concede, I see your point and you make a valiant argument. I guess I just couldn't get past my intial stuberness at the thought of Mike Mussina being more them a flimsy 5th SP. You've backed your argument well, and I in all honesty am really going of my opinion of Mussina. Well done sir:thumbsup:
  23. I'm not ignoring his point. I'm saying Mussina is not a top 6 pitcher. His ceiling at this point is maybe #3 in his teams rotation. And for the most part, Pitchers don't get better with age. But like everything else there is the exception. I don't believe Moose to be that exception. Maybe if he was pitching in the NL. His loss in velocity is key for him. Like Jacko said, him not being able to go inside or paint the corner with a little bit of hard stuff will make it very difficult for him.
  24. He looked strong but inconsistant. Only his 2nd Start tho.
