  1. There are atleast 2 SS having better years then Jeter, but hes starting and none of us are crying and making abig stink about it. ya there are C having better years atr the plate, but Tek is still one of the most valuable C in the game. This is your typical Pot/Kettle Black opinion and its never going to change. I accept it and continue to take your posts with a handful of salt.
  2. I think thats just CC....
  3. BTW, the Brewers have a payroll in the $40-50M range, they would have to raise it by 50% to sign CC. Theres no way he signs there, this is a rental, win this season. The Crew is said to be looking to shop Prince this off season, it doesn't look like they want to raise there payroll. They will collect the draft picks, not sign CC.
  4. No, Respect the fact he is the Captain and leader of the Boston Red Sox. One of the most storied franchises(along with the Yanks) in league history. Respect the fact that he helps manage a wide variety of personalities in the club house. Respect the fact hes only hitting an obviously embarassing .218, he's sticking it out and continue his work off the field to make sure the pitching staff is as informed as then can be. If you take a look at Teks career avg. and say oh I don't know Derek Jeters perhaps. Who is having his worst season at the plate and is only getting worse Defense wise, Career AVG.- .316 this season, .281 down 35 points. Hes on pace for 184, the 2nd lowest of his career, 8 HR, 2nd lowest career, Hes down 44 points in OBP, Now lets look at Tek, Career AVG.- .264, this season hes at 2.18, 46 points off, but don't forget he only hit .238 2 seasons ago, its not like this came out fo nowhere. Hes on pace for 106 hits, 5 less the last year And hes 47 points lower in OBP. And on pace for 14 HR, more then 2 years ago less then last season. Jeter is in the AS game, is he more deserving they say Young, OC playing for the 1st place CWS??????? Listen Jeter should start the Game, its at the AS game in Yankee stadium, in the last season of a historic ball park. Most of us can see past Jeters mediocore stats and know he should be in there, is it that hard to look past Teks stats and understand what JHB was saying about deserving another shot at an AS game for other reasons then Stats?:dunno: Now that I've finshed "wiping" off my team glasses, I'm going to put them back on and resume my usual take on Derek Jeter.......................... I F*&%@^ hate that guy:harhar::thumbsup:
  5. LaPorta is a 30 HR threat in the OF, Cleveland didn't exactly get robbed here. They got a nice package for CC who has pitched better of late, but his awful psot season and bad start to this season had to have tarnished his trade value a bit. Laporta is better then anything Minny got for Santanna.
  6. Don't know the exact figures but I think he signed a 5 yr 80M deal last season. He got the extension and Tex got sent out of town. Young would be nice but it would take a sweet deal to net him. The Sox would have to eat Lugo salary and release him or find some way to trade him. No way both stay on the team at the same time.
  7. Not sure Reyes is enough to send Manny out of town. maybe if they had a seperate deal in place for Tex or another big bat to take the spot of Mannys. Without manny the only legit power is Ortiz, and we don't know how bad his wrist is going to be.
  8. I honestly can say if the Sox traded Manny I would be absolutely shocked:blink: It would honestly have to be a blockbuster, and the other team better be ready to pick up both his option years and talk extension before he waves his no trade rights.
  9. Lugo/Colon/Bowden wouldn't be bad. Mets get a SS, A SP for this years run, and a good young arm for the future. I know this weakens the Sox pitching depth, but Colon is only around this season, sell hi on him if you can, before he goes down with something big. Maybe throw in an OF prospect to sweeten the pot. Reyes can be an electric player, and a great lead off man. Maybe a change of scenary and a little friendly competition between him and Jacoby for SB Crown:D
  10. JB is right tho, theres nothing out there thats better. I'd take reyes but NYM are highly unlikely to part ways with him, maybe in the off season for some young pitching. Eckstein is said to be available, but we know how TOR is with trading within the division. Uribe from the CWS? Blaaah.... Green from SD? I wouldn't mind seeing that. Vizquel from SF? Not a long term option, but a band aid for this season. J. Wilson from Pitt? I guess they could do worse. What else is out there? Maybe a young prospect, but we know those come at a hi price. Lowrie does seem like an option now, give him a shot and see what he can do for a long stretch.
  11. Boston has enough money to admit they where wrong, and just release his ass. Yes it will cost millions, but it's not like there hurting for money. Maybe someone is dumb enough to take him in a trade if the Sox eat atleast half his salary. they can't let his contract get in the way of this teams ultimate goal. I've been all for them being patient with him but hes becoming a joke. I'm actually almost convinced he was on something in TB. He had some pop in his bat then, now he is a shell of his former self. He was a D+- C player, then became a B- player, and when the drug policy stiffend up, he quickly became a D+ guy again. Just a hunch/opinion.
  12. Jay Hawk takes the wind from yet another posters sail.......
  13. I ment they are peforming with in the realm of there career avg. give or take a little. I see three things the Sox could do with the C spot. 1. Stand pat, sign Tek to a 2 yr deal, something around there. 2. Go after a young prospect with little MLB time( Salty top choice obviously, but there must be others) 3. This is my out of RF theory, wait until the off season, let Minny try and sign Mauer long term, if they can't hash out a deal, the Sox swoop in with a prospect rich deal and get Mauer and sign him to a 5 yr deal. Let me be clear, I know this is pure speculation on my behalf for your viewing pleasure. but what it it boils down too is, the Sox either keep Tek, get a young prospect, or get a MLB experienced C.
  14. I've always been a Sox fan, but it wasn't until I was about 10, did I really start to follow them on a regular basis, so that would be about 1992. I remeber those days, Billy Hatcher, Mike Greenwell, Bob Zubzic, Tony Pena, Scoot Cooper, Jody Reed, Phil Plantier and his all croutched up stance, Tom Brunansky twice, Danny Darwin,( sorry for any mis-spellings). Cheering for those guys every day, game in and game out should be enough to get me my " Non- Bandwagon" card.
  15. TB fans are a bunch of tossers. the Rays are the worst in road attedance in the Majors. It's only a matter of time before the Band Wagon collapses from all the Jumpers. I do enjoy the fact that the Rays are giving the divison a run for its money. It makes for interesting baseball.
  16. Usually the Sox have the luxury of not really needing Tek to produce that much. But with Papi out, Manny not 100%, Ellsbury not 100%, Lugo being Lugo, Youkilis and Lowell being AVG, we really need some production to come from somewhere. Pedroia and Drew have been carrying this team for awhile and that is only going to last so long. they need something from somewhere....anywhere......
  17. Ellsburys struggles can be traced back to the injury to his wrist. It's not 100%, and hes having trouble driving the ball. Also like Pedroia, pitchers have found weak spots in his swing and he will have to make adjustments. Ellsbury will be fine, the AS break might do him well to get his swing back, and resting his wrist won't be a bad thing either. I do agree tho, that in the mean time it might be better if he was dropped in the batting order. Pedroia in the LO spot isn't bad, Youk hates it so him in the 2nd spot wouldn't be bad. If Ortiz returns anytime soon the could slot JD in the 2nd spot as well.
  18. Manny is hurt more then people think. He has been a shell of himself for the last month with this Hammy injury. I'd like to see them bench him for a week or so prior to the AS game to get him healthy. I know it makes the line up weaker, but it's not as though hes doing much at the moment anyway. I would rather see Manny sit and get healthy, then do what he has been doing for the last month. The Sox should be thinking positve tho, the last month they have been without Ortiz and for the most part Manny, and have done realatively well considering. Drew has really stepped up and produced, along with Pedroia as well, but this team need the 3-4 combo healthy and running to be a threat this season.
  19. Tek is is stretch, H. Ramirez at SS, Chipper at 3B, Arod is the only logical choice, especially since no one else on the team besides maybe Jeter and Mo get on the roster.
  20. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3451459 There savior has arrived...... If he has an ERA under 5.5 during his stint, I'll be shocked.
  21. Yanks sign Ponson..... I don't know GOM maybe you are right.........
  22. I hope this is sarcasm.... You guys have to get by TB first:D
