  1. NYY,NYM, Baltimore plus some others are sure to all be offering big deals. If the Sox can some how get a small window, and sign him to a long term deal then they should. But this should be done behind closed doors and no talking in the press incase it falls threw. I don't see Tex not testing the market, but the Sox do have a good history with Boras, so maybe there is an outside shot. I agree that youk is versatile, but Lowell is the 3B for the next few years and Lowrie can play any IF position, so yes the Sox have to pay more $( I don't care its not mine), and they recieve a bigger bat and a glove thats gold glove caliber. If Youkilis wasn't so loved by the fans for his dirt dog mentality, everyone on here would be saying to make this trade and sign him a blank check. Adding Tex bat to the Sox lineup, plus keeping him outta NY would be nice.
  2. Wow...... I mean Wow........ That was impressive to say the least. 518ft of of BP pitching..... That guy is incredible..... Wow
  3. What's everyones thoughts on Arod declining to participate? I usually say let the player do whatever he wants, its a long season and who am I to say how they should spend there break. But this being his home park in its last year, and your the big RH hitter in the American league, you gotta go to this thing and play.
  4. I absolutely love Youk, but I also think we are seeing his performance peak here and now. I think he is at his ceiling. That said manny and Papi are getting older, and Tex is proven big bat. If the Braves allowed a window to sign him long term then they should really consider it. I would have like Gammons to keep his flap shut on this. Now there will be rumors and hear say and you never know how Youk will react to these grumblings. We all know Youk can become emotional.
  5. I too am going with the Leftys. Hamilton over Utley. Sleeper pick is Longoria.
  6. Tek- Love the guy and what he has done, but I also understand his days may be numbered, and would not fault the Sox if they looked for an upgrade, Youkilis- Great glove, good bat, if he can hold up in the 2nd half I would be more sold on him. Although he had a good Post Season so that helps. 2B- Pedroia is money and they should try and keep him for long term. SS- Lugo, No proof but I believe he is a former Roid user, if the Sox can get rid of himit would be a plus. 3B- Lowell is as Lowell does, solid player. OF- Manny, the Sox should honestly pick up his options, do it one at a time if it will help keep him motivated. Ellsbury- He is the CF, he may be down avg wise but all rookies struggle at some point or another. This guy is a spark plug, and its always nice to have one. Drew- I've been a supporter since day 1, hes a solid RF, I understand hes fragile, but if he plays 140 games a year and hits like he has this year thats fine by me. SP Beckett- #1 ACE, is there anything else I need to say? Dice-K- Has capability to be a 1a-2 SP. Hes not a ACE, but he has great stuff when he can control it. If he was able to pitch with more control/consistancy I'd be higher on him. Lester- I think Lester has turned a corner and is on his way to be a top LH pithcer in the league. Wake- Solid contributor, his ups are wonderful and his downs are putrid but he eats innings and is a great clubhouse presence. Ill do more later.....
  7. OK guys, I thought this might be a fun idea, if you don't feel the need to post here then thats fine too. This thread is ment to show where you stand on any player, for the Red Sox or not. I know we all have our opinions splashed across this message board and in long forgotten threads. Now this will bring everyone including new users up to speed on where you stand past, present and future. It will make it easy to come back and research if someone is a flip flopper or sticks by there word, or have to admit about how wrong they where about any certain player:D I don't have time right now to get into mine, but I will be back later on to fill out my Sox List, I hope everyone enjoys and has fun with this idea:thumbsup:
  8. No no no, no insults where ment. And I could be lumping you into a group of JD bashers when you ought not to be. I am tired of people complaining about Drew and I vented on you, for this I apologize. And no I am not saying you lack in baseball knowledge either. It was more a venting post then anything, and I'm sorry you had to take the full blow. The glue bucket reference was referring to my original line of " dead horse". You know what they say about dead horses becoming glue and all that:D
  9. You just couldn't wait for something like this to happen:lol:. It must have been eating you alive seeing JD carry the Sox offensively for the last month or so. We all know he has back issues, and can be fragile at times. Hes not going to play 162 games every year. Theres not too many guys that do. Besides it has been shown that giving him a few days off here and there makes him a better player. You have continued to beat this dead horse to no end. Please move on to the next glue bucket.
  10. Theres not too many players in the bigs that play at a certain level for the whole season. Theres ups and downs for all. But yes I admit after he hurt his wrist he played like dung.
  11. Paps looks like the typical white guy LOL MDC has some moves, this is good dtuff, it's nice to see these guys cut loose and have some fun.
  12. Thats alot of dough to eat, but Sexson has just been putrid for the awhile now. If Seattle is willing to eat that much salary, theres hope the Sox won't mind eating Luog's salary and send him packing:D
  13. Would be interesting, but the Pirates are going to want a decent package for that. Lowrie is probably part of any deal like that. Send Lugo back as well even if the Sox have to eat 75% of the contract or more. But more likely Lowrie, plus a RP prospect of low level SP, plus another OF prospect plus maybe 1 or 2 more prospects. Not sure if the Sox will pay that hi of a price for a D minded SS, A Young C in Doutmit who has potential but is far from prooven, and Marte, a NL RP....
  14. Hahaha, man I'm sorry, I completely missed the Central part of your question. My eyes failed me on this one:D
  15. Webb/Haren is probably the best because neither has had a big injury history, unlike Harden and Sheets.
  16. I like this deal better the the Brew Crews. Only because CGC have a 1-2 punch of Zambrano and Harden for the next couple season possibly. Theres no way CC stays with the Brewers. Sheets/CC Webb/Haren Zambrano/Harden Those are some nice 1-2 combos that will be hard to beat in a short series if there in the PO. I think the next pitcher to move is Bedard to Philly is hes healthy.
  17. Do we win some kind of Jack Pot or something?
  18. LOL in the 10 secs it took me to write it 2 more show up LOL
  19. Wow the NL central is stocking up, the division is going to be nuts.
  20. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20080708&content_id=3091876&vkey=pr_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  21. Jacobys offensive fall off can be easily traced back to when he hurt his wrist. Its not 100% and he is not able to drive all the way threw the ball. Is it so unlikely that a rookie can have a bad streak? Pedroia has had a couple and bounced back every time. They should be patient with Ellsbury just like they where with Pedroia.
  22. 2 years maybe a 3rd option year. He won't get a Posada type deal because of his bat. But I would imagine they keep him for a couple more seasons until thye can groom another Catcher. Either that or they go out and make a big deal for someone else.
