1. Wily Mo Pena has fantastic power, but you will see over time that he does not adjust or adapt well. I think that he is quite possibly the most overrated player on your roster.
2. I hope Wily Mo gets 500 AB for the Sox this year. For those of you who don't know, I'm a Yankee fan. Figure it out.

Clemens

I can't find my depends either, so that makes us equal in one regard. It wouldn't go against what the Yankees have done this offseason. They have jettisoned players who don't perform in the playoffs, but brought back Andy Pettitte. The Yankees philosophy has changed...they are interested in stop gap pieces until their farm system can bear the fruit of their labor. This is why they didn't go after Zito and his seven year deal, but expect the Yankees to offer more money for less years so as not to hamstring themselves over time. Clemens fits the role perfectly, actually. I for one, hope that he comes to the Yankees. A starting four of Clemens, Wang, Pettitte and Moose is as good as it gets in the postseason. Big if, though, I admit, but a tantalizing one.
4. I used to hate George Brett. He was the first in the line of Yankee Antichrists. Followed by Edgar Martinez and then David Ortiz. Hell of a player though. I still laugh when I remember the pine tar game.
5. Maybe you should take your own advice and read what I said, lol. Not to start an argument, but my only point is this. The Yankees are much more primed to make a push for a major trade deadline deal than they have in years. I truthfully can't remember the last time we had a surplus of pitching in our farm system. Is what we have enough to land a marquee name? I really don't have an idea. I'm sure that most people didn't expect us to get Abreu and Lidle for the trash we gave up either. If we can get Abreu and Lidle for what we gave up, imagine if we gave up what we got this offseason. It's just more ammunition. With that, I rest.
6. Thank you Red Sox fans for taking the high road and banning that person. Although I am part of the team that is your sworn enemies, it is nice to see that you can separate baseball from everyday life. Not everyone has the overall decency your board has. Thank you. Your team still sucks though.
7. I almost want jacks to lose so he can have that avatar. LOL! How about this for a700:
8. Guys, the Hall of Fame is also about character. There are rules for people to follow. Now, was Barry Bonds a sure-fire first ballot hall of famer before the steriods [assuming they started in 1998]? Yes. However, certain actions someone may take may make him ineligible. Shoeless Joe Jackson was a surefire Hall of Famer. So is Pete Rose. Same with Bonds. I don't think anyone is debating the fact Barry has put up the numbers, pre-steriods, to walk into the hall of fame. Barry cheated. Plain and simple. Whether or not other's did or did not is irrelevant. No one cares about the Guillermo Mota's. We care about the Bonds's, Giambi's, Caminiti's, Sheffield's, etc. Especially Bonds, considering the record he is close to breaking. Try not to forget this as well. If he did steriods, he broke the law. Not baseball's law, but the laws of our country. He used a performance enhancer to improve his body beyond what it was capable of doing on it's own. If that isn't cheating, I don't know what is.
9. Jacks, they are just hating. No one on their staff comes close to the talent that Wang is. The only one that might be close is Matsuzaka, and he is a huge unknown. Other than that, he smokes anyone they have. They know it, and we know it. It would be like us saying that Ortiz isn't that great because he didn't win World Series MVP. Pathetic.
10. If not for Santana, Wang is the AL Cy Young award winner as he finished second. Oh wait...you probably think Webb would do better than Wang in the AL....or Santana would suck in the NL. Isn't it past your bed time? Wang's sinker is in the 92-96 mph range. Not only that, but it has a late break. Sound familiar?
11. It's true that Yankee fans have a sense of entitlement, it kinda comes with 26 World Championships. It's also true that some Yankee fans believe that the lower revenue teams are a defacto farm system for us. It is one of the main reasons I come here rather than post there. However, I have found that the same exists for all teams. I have heard some laughers here as well. It's just not as bad. Keep in mind why free agents come to New York, be it the Mets or Yankees, especially the Yankees. In no particular order, a player's manager, literally guaranteed post season opportunity, a big paycheck, marketing opportunites, being on the largest stage in the baseball world...why wouldn't you want to play there? I mean, come on...regardless of your team loyalties, would you rather play for the Cowboys or the Cardinals? The Lakers or the Grizzlies? It must be worrisome for Sox fans as the Yankees are accumulating pieces that could be traded for a superstar. We just need to wait and see. However, a package headlines by Sanchez and/or Hughes would be tough for any team to pass up as far as prospects go. The Yankees are in a position they haven't been in for a very long time: Strong pitching prospects. P.S. Having a no trade clause helps the bigger market teams in getting Santana, if it ever comes to that. For example, he would reject a trade to Arizona, but accept New York or Boston. Wake up fellas.
12. I think that the Red Sox fans overvalue Randy Johnson since he did well against them in 2005. However, he was putrid against the Sox last year, is coming off of a serious surgery, and has two more years of mileage in 2007 as opposed to 2005. He is at the point in his career where regression is the norm. I love how the Sox have gone with youth in Hansen, Papelbon, Lester, Delcarmen, etc. How come you guys, who have seen the beginnings of the fruits of those labors demean the Yankees who are going in the same direction? To answer ORS, I think Wang has the best sinker in baseball. No one else in baseball throws it as hard as he does. His BABIP may be close to the average, but there is a big difference in whether those balls are hit on the ground or in the air. The more he puts them on the ground, the bigger the chances of a double play, or a force out. It's tough to advance runners on a ground ball when it's a runner on first. He doesn't give up a lot of extra base hits, fellas.
13. Not even close. Pokey got to land on grass.
14. I do love riling you guys up once in a while.
15. With Cairo solidifying the infield, the Yankees can ride out any injuries to their infield starters and should breeze into the World Series. Now I sound like the fans here discussing every bit player the Sox get. LOL!
16. What a great season for the Jets. Good luck Pats. I hope they win the Superbowl, then at least Jet fans can say they lost to the champ.
17. I love how everyone thinks Wang will digress and come back to earth. Best sinker in the majors, and he will suck. LOL! However, the same people expect Schilling to improve considering his age and increased profinity towards injury. Are we all that blind when it comes to our teams? The Yankee pen has one incredible pitcher and a bunch of nobodies [check that, Myers is really effective in his role]. The Sox pen blows. The Sox rotation is a bit of a mess with a slew of question marks. The Yankee rotation is even worse at this point. Both teams have such incredible offenses that they are literally assured of playing in October. However, unless both teams address their pitching woes, it's going to be a short October. There are always surprises in baseball, especially in the bullpen. If you asked me about Papelbon last year, I would have told you it was something you could find at Cinnabon. It seems that both teams are moving in the right direction this offseason. Should be fun.
18. Jacks you are pretty sharp. Do the math. That is over a 7 ERA. He didn't do decent. He OUTRIGHT SUCKED! HE HAD FOUR STARTS, DIDN'T HAVE ONE WELL PITCHED GAME! THE BEST GAME HE HAD WAS 7 INNINGS, 5 E.R., and 6 WALKS. He's old. Injured. Velocity is down. Makes a ton of money. I tell you something, I make this trade even if he didn't have a huge salary. He may be decent for Arizona next year, maybe, but he would have sucked again in the AL East. You guys are driving me nuts here. I must say, this thread has shown me that the overall intelligence on this board has decreased, or you are all still drunk from New Year's. I put you slightly above the intelligence of the average Yankee boards now.:harhar:
19. Why? What the hell is today?
20. So you are saying that a package headed by Humberto Sanchez, Steve Jackson, and Offendorf [or however you spell that guys name] can't get a marquee player? Each one of these players is worth more than the entire package we gave up to get Abreu. You could put all three of those players together and get most players from any team that is out of the race in July. To say that they netted RJ and Sheffield isn't a fair comparison. Those players have no value to a team that is building for tomorrow. Ask any team that finished below .500 last year if they would rather have RJ and Sheffield or the 6 prospects the Yankees got. Guess what they will say? Even if the Yankees keep them all, they've acquired depth. I don't get you guys here. The Yankees are doing what they used to do, and what the Red Sox have already done in the last few years. Your shrewd drafting, compensation from free agents by letting them go, etc., has resulted overall in a net of Lester, Papelbon, Delcarmen, and Hansen. How come it is ok for you guys to do it, but when we do the same it's foolhardy? Hats off to Theo. I kind of thought he was a flash in the pan, but he is turning out to be a great GM. Too bad you guys are so blinded by your hatred for the Yankees that you can't see that Cashman has been incredible this offseason as well.
