  1. There is nothing at all that states that a player cannot buy himself out of his current contract. It hasn't happened yet since this is the first time we are seeing a salary explosion for players. I didn't say he was worth it. I said with the market explosion in salaries, and with Zito asking for 100 million from the Rangers, and Soriano getting $136 million, Lee $100 million, etc., some team, whether it is the Yankees, or Mets, or Rangers, or some "mystery team" will pony up the dough. And yes, Boras CAN just buy him out. There is nothing that says he cannot. It has been talked about often. Here are a link asserting to the fact that he can. http://www.thesportstruth.com/2006/11/daisuke-matsuzaka-bostons-511-million-man-and-counting.html I still think that the Sox and Matsuzaka will come to an agreement. I, for one, am throwing a party if they don't. You just give Drew and Lugo over $100 million dollars, and this guy is worth more than both of them, and they don't want to cough up the dough...funny.
  2. Wow, you guys are really seeing this with Red Sox blinders. Now, I've gone on record and stated that I think the Sox will sign Matsuzaka. However, I see a very real possibility, if the Sox and Boras don't come to an agreement, of Boras going to the Lions, and buying out Matsuzaka for 20-30 million, and then signing a major deal with one of the other 29 teams. You don't think that the Yankees, Mets, and Rangers won't break $100 million for this guy? Shame, honor, pride....kinda disappears when you have tens of millions of dollars on the table.
  3. I wish that he gets better because he is a human being. I also wish that he stinks up the joint since he is a Red Sox. Although there is no real connection, I put it both of them out there. Too bad you have a problem with it. Of course I separate the two, I just chose to post both. On a slightly different track, I felt more sorry Mr. Stranger than I did for Mr. Lidle. Both were in the plane, but Mr. Stranger left an infant and his wife was 5 months pregnant. Needless to say, he didn't make the money Lidle did, and wasn't getting a handout from MLB like the Lidle family. You didn't hear too much about Mr. Stranger. Sad.
  4. Sorry...I'm out of carrier pigeons. Maybe I can use smoke signals next time.
  5. So you don't leave the house, is that what this lesson is all about? After reading your posts the last couple of weeks, I'm not surprised.
  6. Jacksonian...Mussina will decline. As will Schilling and Johnson. You can't stay the same after 35, unless your name is Roger.
  7. Sorry, I meant lymphoma. Typo on my end. Either way, it is relatively treatable and has a high survival rate.
  8. Meant in jest. In speaking to physicians that I knew, and having a strong medical background, and my brother who is in medical school and hopes to be an oncologist, the general feeling was that he would be fine and the type of carcinoma he has is relatively easily treatable and has a high rate of survival. Either way, good luck to Lester.
  9. Talk it easy fellas...try to remember that you are speaking to a lady.
  10. What do you do, hang out outside their windows to peek at their lives? I live in NY, never heard the rumor, lol. ORS, you really need to get out more. Seriously. I'm starting to worry about you. Pettite coming to the Yankees will backfire on the Yankees. Screw him. I'd rather have Clemens back.
  11. I'm not sold on Pettite. I never really cared all that much for him when he was there. I would still much rather have Zito. A 4.20 ERA in Houston doesn't do it for me in the AL.The Yankees have a #1 in Wang and four #4's. We need a #2 and #3 type starter. Hooray Lilly! Hooray Pettite! Hooray Mussina! Hooray Johnson! I'm going to be sick.
  12. Wow...I can see that it's not just me that everyone gets upset with, lol. With the pending signing of Matsuzaka, the signing of Drew and Lugo, the Red Sox have effectively closed the gap on the Yankees. Should be a great division race. Kudos to the Sox for having the balls to go out and get exactly what they need, money be damned. Nice job, Sox FO. The way I see it, the Yankees have the edge in the pen, the Sox in the rotation. The Yankees have the advantage at catcher, 2B, SS, 3B, CF. The Sox have the advantage at DH, 1B, and LF. I consider RF a wash with Drew and Abreu. That leaves it 4-3 Yankees in the lineup, with one tie. Should be a fantastic season. Of course...maybe neither team is done dealing...lol.
  13. As much as I hope he bombs for the Sox, I wish him all the well with his health. Good luck, kid.
  14. True. However, I am sure the Marlins will take less than Hughes in a package. If Hughes becomes Willis, then it's obviously a bad deal for the Yanks. I still think a Sanchez/Proctor/Cabrera/Duncan deal can get done though. Maybe even without Proctor. Who knows? I'd love to see him in pinstripes, but I think the Marlins are nuts to trade him.
  15. Matsuzaka will cash in due to this. This is insanity.
  16. There seem to be a lot of players on the market who "used to be good". I would pass on these players, as the Yankees have shown to take a chance and rarely have it work out.
  17. I think the Yankees best move is if the Red Sox trade Manny.
  18. That would be tough to turn down from a Yankees perspective...I hate to give up Hughes...but a front three of Wang, Willis, and Mussina is as good as they come.
  19. I think that the Red Sox will simply go into spring training and hold an audition for the closer role. It worked out pretty well for you last year.
