  1. Dude, it sucked. I was at the game, it was freaking snowing. Blame Abreu on this one, not Arod. Bases loaded, one out, ground out to the pitcher for the force at home. I was more annoyed with the cold than I was with the loss. That was probably the coldest game I have ever been to.
  2. Umm..because they have Upton? So you would rather have Cora than Cantu? I'm just saying, there is an upgrade for the Sox in Tampa that will cost a bar of soap. Why not get him?
  3. Royals 4, Red Sox 3.
  4. I just think this guy is better than Pedroia, and he'll probably cost less than a bar of soap. Wait and see, Pedroia will be one of the worst offensive second basemen in the AL this year.
  5. Britney Spears three years ago was hot. Actually, the Red Sox pen three years ago was pretty hot too...maybe more like Britney Spears of today.
  6. Not me. The weather is terrible, and I have tickets. Better to be rained out, no way I was going to today's game. Also realize, every game they miss now is one less game they have to play without Wang/Damon.
  7. The point is, like the Red Sox bullpen, Zellweger is passable. You aren't all that impressed, but it will do. She's not Rosie O'Donnell, that's the Braves pen last year. The Red Sox pen isn't horrible, it just doesn't compare to the Yankees pen. I'm actually enjoying this female comparison to bullpens.
  8. Comparing the Yankees pen to the Sox pen is like comparing Angelina Jolie to Renee Zellweger. (The sad part is that I wouldn't mind sleeping with Zelweger)
  9. Why don't the Sox go after Cantu? He is better than Pedroia in my opinion, and wouldn't cost them much. Does Pedroia have that much potential, or is Theo sleeping on the job?
  10. Then Melky plays. No big drop off. I wouldn't play him today either if I was the manager. Give him all the time he needs to heal. It's the first week of the season, and it's only Tampa Bay.
  11. Good. I have tickets to this game, and had no intention of going due to the weather.
  12. According to your math, jacks, it is nearly a lock for him to average 12 milliont a season after this contract is up with inflation and all. That's why I don't get it. Fans? Get a hit when it counts, and we cheer you. Did you expect us not to boo if you go 1-14 in the post-season? What I'm saying ORS is that like Drew, I think it's all about the money. I just don't see how it will happen, unless we get a new Hicks as a player.
  13. I'll take your wager seabeachfred. 86 wins and third place. Yes, it is a long day to wait after your team loses on opening day. It is the one game you hate to lose more than any other in April.
  14. I don't question anyone's loyalty to their team, and you know, you guys rip the Yankees all day, and I love it. I give and take, and the truth is you guys are actually pretty sharp when it comes to baseball, but you just root for the wrong team, that's all. The Sox finish with 86 wins. Third place. That's my call. You guys can all bring up this thread, and I will honorably concede if they do not. If they do, I won't let you guys forget I called it. Should be a fun summer.
  15. Your fellow Red Sox fans are embarrassed that you actually believe that Youk is better than Mientkiewicz at first base. For that statement, you should be banned for life from ever watching baseball ever again. Go back to sleep.
  16. My initial assessment was that they were a wash. Slight edge to Pedroia over Cano. Slight edge Crisp over Damon. Big edge to Lowell over Arod. Big edge to the Yankees with Matsui, Jeter, Mientkiewicz. Slight edge to Posada over Varitek. That gives you two slight edges and one big one. The Yankees have three big edges and one slight one. Do you agree?
  17. LOL! That has to be the funniest thing I've heard in a long time, I never heard that quote before. Well, that whole Boggs/Margo Adams things didn't endear him to Boston, but you were there and lived through it, and I didn't, so I'll defer to you on this one. Give me this though. This whole premise with the fans is COMPLETE AND UTTER ********. The guy is a mercenary for hire. It is all about the money at this point. You think if Cashman told him that he would give him a 5 year, 100 million contract on top of what he has he wouldn't stay? Nothing but the money. It's not about being loved, or cheered. Did Boras have Drew opt out because he would be more appreciated in Boston than in LA? Same thing with Arod. The thing about Arod is this. I completely and utterly believe that when the Yankee season ends, that's it for him in pinstripes, and hello Chicago/Anaheim/LA. However, it makes little sense. Even in this market, I don't see him making 27+ million a year over the next 3 years, which is what he is scheduled to make. The overall dollars will be more, no doubt, but not the AAV of his contract. Why not just wait, take your money and then leave? His endorsement money, marque value, etc., will go down anywhere but in LA from in NY. Plus, salaries historically go up, so he will probably make more in three years than he will now, even if he is older, and he gets to keep his 27 million either way. It just doesn't make sense, but then again, Arod making sense to me would be a foreign concept anyways.
  18. How you can give Drew the edge over Abreu, when they both played in the NL in 2005, but Abreu won the gold glove? Once again, you guys have a problem with reality and fantasy. Also, keep in mind, that the Varitek/Posada comparisons are ridiculously weak. Varitek averaged 0.60 stolen base attempts against per game, while Posada had 0.76 stolen base attempts. Keep in mind that teams historically don't run as much in Fenway, and the ratio is much closer than the gap. Now, considering that Posada threw out 37.3% of all baserunners, and Varitek threw out 22%, it's not even close. Posada threw out baserunners more successfully 59% of the time. This is like comparing Youkilis to Mientkiewicz. Varitek is a shell of the player he once was, both in the field and at the plate. In the clubhouse, he is still as good as they get. Guys like him, Jeter, Ortiz, Damon, Posada, Mariano, they never change in the clubhouse. They just get old.
  19. I hate the Sox as much as anyone, but I would never laugh at anyone getting injured. Not even ORS. Maybe a snicker, or a chuckle, but not a full blown laugh.
  20. Screw it. As a fan, let them play every day. Every team, every day. For an average salary in the millions, play every day. It's fair if every team played every day. In fact, forget the offseason. Take the week off, start baseball in November. Year round baseball baby!
  21. I'll go with the hotter one. I could care less if she is a whore or not. I'm not exactly selective. I just like good looking girls regardless of their intelligence or morality. In this aspect, you really would be very hard pressed to find anyone as shallow as me.
