  1. One bad day during a game that was well in hand. Good to see Soriano getting hot. This Yankee team might have some fight left in them, although Hughes is pitching tomorrow, so there is about as strong an autoloss as can be
  2. Don't worry, the sox get the Yanks this weekend. Nap should be good for 3 bombs
  3. He's being used exactly how he should be. He's a matchup RH hitter with a flare for the dramatic. Overplay him and he'll be overexposed.
  4. Just when I thought the sox house of cards was gonna fall, their pen wriggles off the hook and Victorino places a 15 hopper perfectly. They really are a team of fate. I'm gonna puke
  5. I know it is simplistic, but the sox aren't beating anyone based on pitching alone. They don't have a staff that can dominate a short series. I bet they are hoping for a serious meltdown from Detroit or their ouster prior to running into them
  6. The Royals showed what it takes to beat Boston, shut down the offense. Good pitching will beat this sox team. But bad pitching gets brutalized by the sox, even average to above average pitching gets destroyed. Boston doesn't have the staff to shut down good hitting teams, but they do enough to let their offense carry the load. If a team can hold the sox hitters at bay, they'll beat them.
  7. I listened to Suzyn Waldman talking to Fraud after the game, and he's added a new religious perspective that is completely nauseating. He should be thanking the holy trinity of Conte, Bosch and Galea instead
  8. And Mariano is following suit with the rest of this god awful team
  9. He threw 8 innings of shutout ball today and it got me thinking enough to look at Fangraphs on him. This yr, his FIP and xFIP are fantastic, although his overall numbers have been pedestrian. His xFIP is 3.28, which is his lowest since 2010. His K rate is also his best since 2010 as is his walk rate. His FB velocity has plateaued around 90mph after being on a roller coaster for the first few yrs of his career. It is possible he has learned to pitch to his new velocity and may be turning a corner. He's a FA at season's end and might be worth a flier to build up his value, a "pillow contract" if you will, although his extreme HR tendencies of the past 2 seasons makes Fenway and YS a dicey situation for the marijuana enthusiast
  10. Sticking with Brock Holt is hilarious. WMB is better and Bogaerts is the future.
  11. He's a 25 yr old LHP who can hit the mid 90s who is putting up a 2.3WAR season with 2 months to go. His first two months were a disaster but he's been dynamite since and showed he isn't slowing down. He's exactly what you want out of a #4 starter and will probably work his way higher in your pecking order should he continue to show the command he has shown over the last 2+ months
  12. I still don't get why the Yankees are content with letting Bird stagnate in A ball. He's a full year younger than the average player in the SAL at 20 and he has shown plate discipline and power while down there to the tune of 82 walks and 16HRs. He's OPSing over .900 through 104 games and he is a full time 1b now. Take the reigns off and move the kid up
  13. Baseball America has put Abiatal Avelino on helium watch. He's the Yankees 18 yr old GCL shortstop who has done some remarkable things this season. His slash line is pretty impressive overall with a .356/.409/.525 line to go along with 18 steals in 25 games. But the cool thing is, the kid has hit a triple in each of his last 4 games. That's rather impressive for a kid so young. He also is playing the position well and should be able to leapfrog the NYP next yr and go right to Charleston should the Yankees go that route.
  14. Gary Sanchez promoted to AA. He started to stagnate in High A, effectively repeating the level he ended with in 2012. He had been hitting in the high .270s with an OPS over .800 as short as one month prior but he'd fallen on hard times of late, seeing his OPS slip into the .730 range. They promoted him after he showed that he deserved it defensively and now he's passed the second big test of the Yankee system, getting out of the FSL. He responded in his first game going 1 for 3 with an RBI double and a HBP. I hope he can finish well
  15. This has nothing to do with the Yankees. ARod recruited players to this clinic, was the most avid user of PEDs and then tried to destroy evidence of his involvement as bribe the owner of the now defunct clinic. He did a lot more than just use
  16. Jeter hurt again. He'll probably pick up the player option for 2014 and that will be his swan song.
  17. RSF3, Kalish is probably not gonna make it. He's out for the yr and has considered retiring due to chronic injuries
  18. In the history of the game.
  19. He's 23, has a career OPS of .900 and has hit 106HRs. His talent level is completely rare and he is a good 5 yrs away from his prime
  20. ARod has always been a merc to me. And a merc has to perform. He's been in NY 10 yrs now and he's had one good postseason and won 1 title. That's not enough when the other 9 seasons he's either completely sucked in the playoffs or been injured. His regular season numbers have been gaudy, but that's not how u get measured when you're the best player in the game and you come to the best franchise in the game
  21. Stanton is playing in a less powerful time, mind you. And at his age, he has a similar OPS and more HR's than ARod did at his age. And that is with Alex being a complete and total juicer. If Arod were to have been dealt at age 23, imagine the haul it would take to get him? Bogaerts has a ton of potential, but mind you, Stanton was hitting 34HRs and OPS'ing .893 in a s***** park in the MAJORS at the same age. There are very few comps for Stanton, especially since there are few players who have hit 100+Hrs by the time they turn 24. The guy is a completely and totally special talent who isn't even close to his prime and has 2 more yrs of team control at reasonable dollars. His haul will be enormous
  22. ARod is still trying to get his money during his suspension and is far apart on the length of the suspension. Banish him!!
  23. They could give Stanton an ARod contract and he'd fit in their budget. Theyre gonna deal Stanton this offseason. And when they do, the haul they will get will be unprecedented
  24. It was an obvious situation once his lawyers saw the evidence. Selig was going to use the best interest of baseball clause, which is un-appealable really. There is no arbiter for that charge, only Selig, and it isn't challengeable by the legal system as it is written in the CBA and is a power given to the commish. When charged with either missing 200 games or being banned from baseball for life (and losing another $70 mil in the process) it is really no question. Now, the only question is if the Yankees plan to sue Fraud for damage to the brand. I hope they do, come to a buyout agreement and then see ARod go off into the sunset
  25. A deal for Stanton would be stupid at this juncture. He's got 2 yrs of control left and will cost an absolute monster fortune of prospects. We're talking your top 4 prospects at least. Bogaerts, Bradley, Barnes and Ranaudo would be on their way. And that might not get it done
