  1. And would it surprise anyone if he drops 15 bombs in the final two months of the season? The guy was a clear change of scenery player who looked defeated the moment he stepped in the box
  2. They’re putting a lot of chips on severino’s injured shoulder. He’s started throwing again and if they ramp him up slowly on a rehab assignment, they can get him to a starter’s workload by the time he’s activated Sept 16. A healthy Severino does make Monty irrelevant for the POs. But it’s a gamble they didn’t have to make. Monty isn’t the second coming of Andy Pettitte, but he was good for 5 innings and 2ER. He had some ridiculous run recently broken where he had something like 13 straight starts not allowing 3ER. He wasn’t flashy. He wasn’t dominant. He was consistent. 1. Cole 2. Montas 3. Cortes 4. Severino
  3. So it seems Cashman wants to get Judge out of CF. The wear and tear of playing CF has caused Judge to miss a few games due to lower body soreness. But, he’s been playing good defense and Hicks has clearly lost a step. The only other guy capable on the roster was Gallo until they dealt him away. Bringing in Bader gives the Yankees a true blue GG caliber CFer. This allows Judge to return to RF where he’s GG caliber and currently have Beni in LF where he’s won a GG. This moves Hicks to 4th OFer, which makes some sense since Hicks is a switch hitter and won’t need to be shoehorned into a game or two based on matchup. This also allows Stanton to return to full time DH on his return from Achilles tendinitis. While I understand and agree with the reasoning, I don’t like removing pitching. We sent Sears, Wesneski, and Waldichuk away previously. Now sending an established middle of the order starter away leaves us somewhat vulnerable. German has been shaky. Severino cant come back til September (although he can ramp up to a starter’s workload in the minors). Schmidt becomes the 6th starter all stretched out in AAA. Not to mention you just traded for Montas who just missed time with a shoulder. If they wanted this guy so badly, make the trade in the off-season. Not sure why it had to be now
  4. Bill Russell and Vin Scully in the same week. Jeez, two titans gone…
  5. Bloom was given the opportunity to rebuild the Red Sox. He was given a unique chance to add depth and talent to a farm system that he’s been trying to wean off life support since he got to Boston. And rather than take that opportunity, he decided to do what exactly? He dealt Vázquez for two guys who are not highly rated at all. Downgrades on the most important position in baseball with a player who is all too fascinated with his pud. He doesn’t deal off the players with expiring contracts, but he also doesn’t entirely reinforce the team. He added Hosmer, who sucks a bit less than Bobby D. He added Pham who sucks a little less than JBJ. He does nothing for the dying bullpen. He adds nothing to the injured rotation. He half assedly shored up a s***** team that is currently not in a playoff spot. I’ve told everyone that he’s a master trader, and he whiffed at this deadline. Maybe it’s Henry. Maybe he put the kaibosh on a rebuild. Whatever it was, it’s time to fire Bloom. If he’s gonna hesitate to do what he’s best at, then you don’t want him. If Henry wouldn’t let him do what he’s best at then why have him. As a Yankee fan, I LOVE what you did at this deadline!
  6. This one is weird. Bader is an elite defensive CFer who had two plus offensive seasons prior to this one. We dealt Sears, so I’m not seeing who is our 5th starter here unless we figure German is gonna hold onto the job for now and Schmidt takes it later?
  7. Nats take back Erik Hosmer to offset salary. But this is a f***ing haul CJ Abrams was #8 last year in all of baseball. He has surpassed rookie eligibility. MacKenzie Gore was #6 last season in all of baseball. He has surpassed rookie eligibility and looked decent in his 16 game cameo Robert Hassell III is the #21 ranked player this year in all of baseball. James Wood is the #88 prospect this year in all of baseball Jarlin Susana is the #14 prospect in the SD system this year. That is a f***ING HAUL
  8. And maybe they stumble in. But it would be because others failed, not because the sox succeeded. One interesting thing to this point is the Jays have done nothing. That really surprises me. They need at least one starter and they have stood pat
  9. It is true and you know it.
  10. Holy s***. Abrams and Gore in the deal. More to come
  11. May not be Bloom's call. Could be JH saying he wants the team competitive and doesn't want an all out firesale. Honestly, while it is best for the sox long term to fire sell, the likelihood that they even get to be as good as they are right now for next season is low
  12. Bloom is trying to thread a needle here. Pham is an upgrade offensively to JBJ yet McGuire is a downgrade offensively from Vaz. He is still staying true to his word that he wants to stay competitive. Today could change all that
  13. He also could be back in the off season as he won't be terribly expensive
  14. You got kinda what you expected for Vaz. Two guys who aren't rated that highly who are having career minor league seasons. Sometimes those guys turn into something. Sometimes they dont
  15. You're in good hands with McGuire...
  16. You are literally the second dumbest poster on this site. Nobody beats Stork, but you're a somewhat distant second
  17. Time to look back on this draft as one of absolute and total domination by Cashman in terms of getting value and selling for big league parts 1. Volpe- top 10 prospect in all of baseball, Yanks top prospect 1a- Sikkema- just traded for Benintendi 2. Smith- traded for Gallo last year 3. Sanford- released after stealing teammate's merch 4. Agnos- injured since 2019 5. Waldichuk- dealt for Montas/Trevino 6. Wesneski- dealt for Effross This was a draft that was panned by experts. Cashman knows how to draft pitching outside the first round
  18. We bought him low. If he was pitching like he was in 2021, no way we get him
  19. He’s had three excellent seasons and two stinkers. He’s a good buy low candidate
  20. Yanks have succeeded in drafting and developing pitching, especially in the middle rounds. Wesneski was a 6th rounder. Waldichuk was a 5th rounder. Montgomery a 4th.
  21. They didn’t gut their system at all, that’s the crazy thing. Trivino has a better xFIP this year than he did last year. His babip is .451 and his HR/FB rate is 20%. He’s got top end stuff. He’s got experience. He’s a guy you let steep in the middle innings to see if he finds himself. Montas is a true front of the rotation pitcher who I have my concerns about. Mostly due to his prior place of residence and how you can pitch pretty aggressively in the coliseum. Not so much in Yankee stadium. In terms of who we gave up…. Sears was our 17th ranked prospect coming into the season who really blossomed into a strike throwing starter who will likely slot directly into Montas’ spot. Waldichuk is the best prospect here and will also likely slide into a starter’s role. Waldichuk doesn’t throw strikes as well as Sears, though, and May end up a multi inning weapon out of the pen. Medina was an obvious trade candidate this year since he’s out of options in 2023 and has been only reasonably good in AA. Bowman is a project with lots of swing and miss but speed for days, developing power and the hands to stay at 2b. Overall, the Yanks had to go for it. They kept their top 2 prospects and they still added one legit pen arm, another legit historically guy having a weird season in Trivino and a front of the rotation starter in Montas
  22. For Sears, Waldichuk, Medina and Cooper Bowman
  23. Don’t get me wrong, I love this reliever. I just thought he’d get a reliever’s return. Wesneski is gonna be good. And if he struggles as a starter, he’s got the stuff to be a lights out reliever a la Effross.
  24. Da fuq? For Lamet, Rogers and two prospects
