  1. How will the sox do this year? Put your name to it below. I go 71-80 wins
  2. Franchy to be signed. Looks like Florial is gone. Both suck.
  3. Here's the deal, your scouts need to see the future when they draft players. Yorke's pick was categorically panned and then he popped before settling back in. Volpe's pick was categorically panned in the NY circles too and look how that is working out. I have played the "well, the guy who got drafted after is a superstar" game before. It isn't helpful
  4. Waldichuk is gonna be a high leverage reliever, IMO, long term. I do not really see him as a starter
  5. The Yanks held true to their word. Boone and Cash said at the beginning of ST that it is a true competition. Volpe clearly outplayed the others. He deserves it. My hope is they throw him 9th in the order and let him take his lumps a bit. The kid is a sky high talent.
  6. Volpe won the job!
  7. Last time we started a rookie at SS the season went pretty well Cortes’ injury was to a hammy and cost him literally no time Sounds like Sevy’s issue is more precautionary at this point. The goal is to win in October, we can survive March and April Rodon threw a successful BP session Schmidt and German have been solid in their regular season and preseason time. 5th starter will be an issue, but they’re “expecting” to only need a 5th starter once before Sevy returns. My bet is they kid glove Rodon and bring him back in May assuming he doesn’t have a serious injury. We have some depth with Vazquez and Brito MLB ready. Would have loved to have still has Wesneski, though
  8. Volpe with a legit chance to be opening day SS.
  9. Rodon has been injury prone. But to say he is heading down Paxton's path is pretty dumb right now. Paxton literally fell apart.
  10. He also knows his fan base hasnt won a title in 37 years and he wants to win. My bet is he finally wins a title at some point and then starts to treat it like a business
  11. Looks like one of the kids won the OD SS job. Intrigued to see which one
  12. This event sucks. Here is why 1. Non US countries have guys willing to crawl over hot coals to play. The US guys either beg out or are kept out by their MLB teams. So you've got a watered down US product. 2. Players are forced to ramp up early, leading to fatigue issues earlier in the season 3. Players get hurt. In 2013, after the Yanks fell to Detroit in the ALCS the year prior, Mark Teixeira blew out a tendon in his wrist. He was a 3WAR player at that point. We had negative WAR that season and it took 2 years for Tex to recover. 2013 was the first year the Yanks missed the playoffs since 1993. Now the Mets will deal with this with Edwin Diaz.
  13. Volpe, Peraza and Dominguez are tearing it up. I think Peraza wins the SS job. It looks like they're turning IKF into the super sub since their super sub is gonna win the LF job (Cabrera). Volpe deserves better, but Peraza is ahead of him and is gonna be a good one. I would not mind seeing a mid season deal moving Torres so we can bring up Volpe for 2b
  14. I hope they're getting it out of the way now. They're deep enough to handle some of the losses, but invariably some of the replacements will get hurt and we will be up s***'s creek
  15. And Rizzo's balky back is acting up again. Can anyone stay healthy?
  16. Never said he was
  17. Now Bader is down for the first 3 weeks of the season. He wants a Yankee extension. Kid needs to stay on the field after he comes back We do have depth, although the quality of it is in question. Judge likely slides back to CF. Cabrera now cements his spot in LF. We will need someone in RF for the first few weeks. They keep talking about Stanton in RF. f*** that. The guy is a walking injury. He is a DH, that is it. I would consider Dominguez for a cup of coffee and see if he can parlay a good spring into a good start. I would also consider Hicks as a last gasp option. Calhoun and Ortega are showing well in camp apparently. I have always liked Calhoun from afar. Guy comes up, crushes it as a rookie. Gets hurt, gets caught in a roster squeeze and then gets pissed at his service time manipulation. The big question is, did his injury leave him as damaged goods or is he the next Urshela we pull off the scrap heap who turns into a good player?
  18. The stupidity on this thread is deafening 1. Paxton is 4 years older than Rodon. 2. Rodon made 55 starts the last 2 seasons, Paxton made 1 3. Paxton has made a total of 6 starts the last 3 years combined 4. Paxton is coming off back and elbow surgeries since he last pitched a full season Guys, one player (Paxton) is probably in his final season in the majors. The other is a guy who had a CY voted on season last year. Paxton has had major injuries as has Rodon. But Paxton continues to have minor muscular ailments keeping him off the field. He is a broken down old horse. Rodon, as long as he escapes major injury with this elbow issue, should be expected to have a solid year. But that is still in question
  19. This is quite possibly the dumbest thing you've ever written
  20. How about the last 2 seasons. Seriously, you guys are just ridiculous.
  21. LOL, since 2017! That's f***ing stupid and you know it. Ridiculously dumb, well below you
  22. Trivino elbow strain. Kahnle bicep tendonitis. Da fuq?
  23. Mother f***er. Rodon, “forearm strain”. Great
  24. Volpe is apparently making a big impression with the Yankees coaching staff. His hot start hasnt hurt. I find it VERY unlikely he breaks camp with the Yanks, but I do think he makes his debut this year. More likely, I think, is IKF starts as the SS and Peraza overtakes him. I think Volpe will be promoted to start at 2b when the Yanks deal off Torres for whatever other help they will need, likely in the OF, IMO
