  1. Who is the 5th starter on this team? I've already forgotten. Is it Morales? Dice-K? It's hard to remember someone that goes 4 innings once every 5 days.
  2. I was living in Massachusetts at the time and they had just come back from 0-3 against the Yankees in the playoffs. I even remember where I was when Damon hit that grand slam. I do qualify as a bandwagoner because I caught on after they had just won. I will own up to this.
  3. I thought the bullpen was okay today. There were about 5 different ways for them to lose the game, from Melancon to Bailey to Aceves, and they lasted 7 innings. Not bad
  4. Are the Red Sox still a high scoring team? They went through that awful stretch where they couldn't seem to score more than 2 runs a game. Ortiz and Middlebrooks' injuries have also hurt substantially. Every once in a while, they'll have a high scoring game like that 8 run game against Toronto recently, but for the most part, they'll losing games 4-2 or something.
  5. Wow. 5 runs and only 1 out??
  6. He has 2 of Boston's 7 hits so far tonight
  7. His offense is okay. He hit better last year when he didn't have to play everyday so honestly, he may just have to be a platoon guy. I think he'd be more valuable at third though.
  8. Any two nouns can be compared at any time. People say you can't compare apples and oranges. I say they're both fruits. I wasn't trying to offend you though
  9. Not to be a downer, but posting the video doesn't exude classiness either, haha. And to be fair, they went to the bathroom to do it instead of right in their seats.
  10. There's a lot of bad blood between the teams in the AL East. Personally, I don't like the Orioles, Rays or Yankees for obvious reasons (Orioles knocked out the Sox last year, Rays leapfrogged the Sox as a result). If I had to choose one to advance to the playoffs though, I would hope the Orioles get there
  11. Of course there's the joke that Red Sox fans root for the Sox and anyone who plays the Yankees, but does anyone here have another team they like? I'm always pulling for the Padres, unless they play the Red Sox. They haven't been good in a long time but they play hard, they develop their players in the farm and they sell cheap tickets to the games. I've lived in Southern California for about 4 years now; I think they were good once a long time ago when their rotation was Maddux, Wells and Young but I can't remember.
  12. Projections are never accurate. I would have said the same thing about Lester, Beckett and Buchholz being on par with Halladay, Lee, Hamels before this season but it did not pan out. I feel like a fool for saying how Lester, Beckett, Buchholz, Lackey and Dice-K would be one the greatest starting rotations ever. Back on point, without the benefit of reading through 6 pages of people arguing, Morales has shown flashes of brilliance but like everyone else on this team, cannot seem to pitch past the 5th inning. But I think he's done better than Doubront. Would Doubront work well out of the pen?
  13. Why you gotta hate on the Astros, man. They're rebuilding, and they'll be good next year.
  14. You mean Taiwan? The Yankees' Japanese players did the Sox in today
  15. ESPN commentators and their love affair for Derek Jeter is nauseating. I think I'm gonna be sick
  16. It'll suck now but I'm fine having Ellsbury, Pods and Ross man the outfield. He should get the surgery now.
  17. Admittedly, my Red Sox history doesn't go all too far back but in recent memory, I'll say Mark Loretta, Kevin Youkilis, Alex Gonzalez, Mike Lowell, Trot Nixon and Jason Varitek.
  18. It's way too hard to predict. Everyone has been just so wildly inconsistent, it's not even funny. Buchholz is returning to form again (knock on wood) but he put up several horrendous starts to begin the season. Doubrant and Cook are ridiculously all-or-nothing. People were ready to kill Gonzalez when he was hitting .255 earlier in the season. Aviles started off well and seemed to cool off when he was no long leading off. Crawford's progress is a roller coaster. How can anyone get firm results from these samples?? I actually do like this team. It's hard to root for a team that's always losing, but I don't attribute their losing to a lack of effort. I honestly think that they cannot play better right now. I'm glad I'm not GM because I don't know who I would keep.
  19. I'm monitoring the game on MLB Gameday. Ump's got a tiny strike zone
  20. Without the benefit of having read through all 6 pages of very angry posts, I'm going to predict Youk hits .280 with the White Sox for the rest of the year. It may be enough to help them to the playoffs and/or it may be enough to screw us over.
  21. Astros wouldn't do that. Wandy Rodriguez is good, Josh Beckett is so-so right now. I don't see the Astros looking for pitching help at the moment anyway.
  22. I guess that makes sense. Gonzalez hit for a high percentage last year with not too many HRs (fewer than Ellsbury if I remember correctly.) I'm just wondering what would put the team in a better position Hypothetically Gonzalez .253, 42 HRs Gonzalez .310, 25 HRs
  23. I've never seen an analysis quite like that. If he gets a hit, no matter where in the park, wouldn't that be a good thing that helps the team?
  24. You know I'm kind of surprised Gonzalez is getting so much heat. Sure he isn't put up 20mil numbers, but a lot of players aren't right now (Pujols). At least this guy is playing unlike the other guys on the Sox that are getting paid big money while rehabbing. And he's doing a good job, hitting .280 and willing himself out of that funk he was in. I've got no problem with him when there's way more stuff going on.
