  1. This is a very important draft for the red sox because MLB has been talking about taking away compensation picks for signing free agents. the red sox need to find the best possible players in this draft regardless of position and sign these guys to improve the depth of the farm system.
  2. not many fans will miss millars production. he became pretty useless last year.
  3. There are not many names they could change it too. I bet they will have a hard time coming up with a respectable name to change it to.
  4. the red sox have 7 picks in the top 100 of this years draft. they can really stockpile the farm system if they scout wisely and draft wisely and get the players signed.
  5. Absolutely a good trade for the Drays. Getting Tiffany was a solid pickup and if Jackson could ever turn it around it would make this trade look lobsided. the rays traded baez who was 1 yr from free agency and carter for two young pitchers, one that was once the a top 10 prospect and another who is rising up through the dodgers system. absolutely a very good trade for the devil rays. anyone think they will send Jackson to triple A again or will they just throw him into the rotation right away this year.
  6. The Red Sox probably sold high on Hanley Ramirez. Great tools guy but at some point you need to back up all those tools with statistics and he has yet to do it.
  7. Woody Williams stats at fenway are brutal as well and he is practically washed up and can barely hit 85 on the radar gun.
  8. I like payton for the short term and I want ellsbury for the long term
  9. If they need to trade graffanino to address shortstop and centerfield im pretty sure the red sox would.
  10. They are not trading Manny unless they get equal value in return. He also said in his recent interview that he would report to spring training if he was not traded. he is not dumb and won't walk away from 57 million.
  11. Philip Hughes is a Yankee prospect. You must be thinking of Philip Humber who is coming off of Tommy John Surgery
  12. Solid pickup by the Red Sox who will help this team. The best part is he was a Type A free agent but the Cardinals did not offer arbitration to him thus the Red Sox do not have to fork over a draft pick because had they offered it to Tavarez the Sox likely would not have signed him.
  13. The mets practically have no farm system. They have mortgaged it for a quick fix and to try win a world series within the next 2-3 years. If they don't win it all they will pay for it by having no homegrown players coming up in the next few years other than maybe millledge and pelfry. But who knows Omar may turn around and trade them at some point.
  14. I don't think the red sox are willing to just give him away anymore. they are not gonna just throw away 2006 and further by placing him on waivers again because this time he will be claimed by someone. I would rather keep manny than trade him for abreu who isn't even close to the player manny is.
  15. The Mets will definitely pay for cleaning out their farm system if they don't win the World Series within the next two seasons because afterthat alot of the players will be getting up there in age and they will start the downward parts of there career and will continue to eat up the Mets payroll.
  16. Its a rumor and that is all it is. Abreu is not as good as Tejada. Why would the Red Sox even think about taking 75 cents on the dollar for manny. The Red Sox aren't stupid and will never do something like that. unless they are giving us rollins and abreu than the deal is pointless. end of story.
  17. Its too bad there is no sidney crosby coming out in the draft that could potentially save this franchise.
  18. in arizona where its hot all year round you can probably wear sandals to a hockey game
  19. won't believe it until i see it across espn. message boards bring so much chatter. we have no idea who are credible sources and who are not.
  20. Even if Rice does not get voted in by the writers he will be voted in by the Veterans Committee who voted very similar players in Tony Perez and Orlando Cepeda. If those 2 players are in the hall of fame there is no reason Rice should not be along side of them.
  21. Rice got snubbed again. 2008 and 2009 are probably his best and last chances to do it until the veterans committee votes him in which I am pretty sure they will considering they voted in Tony Perez and Orlando Cepeda, players with similar numbers to Rice.
  22. If Omar ever traded David Wright he should be fired immediately. He is a star a corner position. Very Hard to find.
  23. I have also heard him compared to miguel cabrera as well even though cabrera was already in the majors at marte's age of 22.
  24. I think Jim Callis said it would be in the top 10 in MLB. He said had they not traded Hanley and Sanchez but still add marte then they would have been top 5.
  25. roberts for wells is a terrible deal as wells can fetch alot more than someone such as roberts who does not hit particulary well as is not a very good leadoff hitter.
