  1. i wouldn't say its been bad other than losing damon. they upgraded their starting pitching and in the bullpen. they brought in loretta for nothing. brought in 2 gold glovers in lowell and JT snow and also got one of the best prospects in baseball. by no means are the red sox done with their 2006 roster.
  2. Griffey does not have the range to play center anymore while reed can cover alot of ground. the red sox already have a shaky defensive outfield with manny and trot having hardly any range. they don't need to add an often injured player who does not have the range he once had.
  3. its called competition and depth. you can never have enough of it.
  4. stern needs to stay on the roster for 18 days to fulfill his rule 5 service then he can go back to pawtucket. they could always trade him as well.
  5. damon left for the money something the red sox were not going to give him. not that much. maybe theo goes to 44 million but they would have never went to 52 million even if theo was here.
  6. good low risk signing. right now he is ahead of adam stern on the depth chart in center but i still expect us to go out and get a real centerfielder.
  7. I'd like to see theo as the president of baseball operations and the GM, Jed Hoyer the assistant GM and Ben Cherington go back to his old job Farm Director. Where Larry fits into all this beats me.
  8. Great move for the sox. It now shows we have some sort of stability within our front office again.
  9. The Royals have been thin on the farm for a while. They have Alex Gordon who is a stud. Billy Butler is a good hitter without a position and now they hold the #1 pick in the draft in which they should select UNC lefthander Andrew Miller who is by far the best pitcher in the draft.
  10. I would not trade for Edmonds and give up any young players. Edmonds is going to be 36 next, he is an agressive player who is now starting wear because of his playing style. he is not going to be good for too many more years. People are talking about giving up Ellsbury or Moss to sweeten the deal. To me that is an overpay for a player on the downside of his career. I would take Jeremy Reed over Jim Edmonds because he can be had for less and is younger and is not as injury prone as Jim Edmonds can be because of his playing style.
  11. remember we gave up a 3rd round pick i think for starks and a 5th rounder for andre davis.
  12. I would seriously doubt the Royals would trade DeJesus who makes next to nothing unless they were getting one of our Big 3 of Lester, Papelbon, or Marte. The Royals farm system is already thin and they would not give up DeJesus unless they can help stockpile it.
  13. Good hire for the pats. he has alot of coaching experience. 33 years in total. he has been a coach under saban so he knows the system. I wouldn't be shocked if this was an upgrade from Mangini.
  14. Michaels also doesn't have the best range in center as well. Reed is a much better player. Everyone forgets that Reed was a BA top 40 prospect last year but since he had a down year his value has dropped. If I had a choice between Reed and Michaels, it would be Reed and it wouldn't even be close.
  15. buddy ryan's son....he was the patriots linebacker coach a few years ago but left for oakland to become their defensive coordinator when mangini turned down the raiders d-coordinator job.
  16. At least Marino reached a super bowl before he turned 30. Peyton hasn't even sniffed a super bowl yet.
  17. Mangini is going to hire Rob Ryan as his defensive coordinator.
  18. Does anyone think the Jets reached for Mangini. Its not like he had a good year as the Defensive Coordinator. The pats finished 26th in defense in the NFL. I think its a reach and that he was not ready at his age to be a head coach.
  19. What a real realiable site.
  20. He will be making more money but is it worth the risk with the Jets not in a good situation personel wise. They have a ton of question marks especially at QB and RB. they have the fourth pick in the draft which does not favor them at all because Bush, Leinart and Young will all go in the top 3. All I'm saying is that Mangini did not need to rush into this because their will be jobs opening up all the time and better jobs than the one in New York.
  21. He makes excuses for every little loss and takes none of the blame. when will he wake up and realize that it is him who buckles under the pressure. No one will take the colts seriously now if they start out strong again because they are notorious choke artists. their window of opportunity is slowly closing.
  22. His lack of experience and being alittle young i think he should have passed on this job. Its not like NFL jobs do not open every year. the Jets job is a very tough job. a big market team with a demanding fan as well as a team that looks like they are going downhill pretty quickly with salary cap problems. Mangini could have stayed and found a job that was better than the Jets job. I wouldn't be shocked to see him fail in his first gig like belichick did with the browns.
  23. I don't think the sox will ever give in to the Rays demands. they would rather not give up any top prospects. They probably are targeting reed for centerfield and are content on going with cora at short. to me that is the best option that trading top prospects for the likes of gathright and lugo.
  24. ya he did get the walk but 2005 was not 2004 and we was pretty much useless last year.
  25. Its a shady site but I would take Adam Jones from the Mariners in a second along with Jeremy Reed.
