  1. it was a down time then for the yankees so im sure many of their fans don't remember it too well.
  2. its a tough question for some people because it makes you think for a bit.
  3. elston broke up the no hitter that is correct. still 2 parts to the question
  4. ok this is not real yankee trivia but its a yankee-sox game trivia.....i want to see if anyone can get. April 14, 1967 second game of the year. Billy Rohr pitched a 1 hitter for Boston. Here are the Questions. What Yankee Batter hit the ball that Yaz made a tremendous catch on, who broke up Rohr's no hitter and who caught the final out of the game?
  5. i am a red sox fan but i also love baseball history.
  6. Reynolds had to get Ted Williams for the final out twice because Yogi Berra dropped his easy foul pop.
  7. dave lives at home still in creskill, NJ. he didn't work full time either so it was easy for him to go on the road trip. dave is one crazy guy since i lived with him in college. there is no bigger yankee fan i know than dave.
  8. dave is a huge yankees fan but even going to all the games got tiring after a while for him. i talked to him all throughout the season and he just said all the travel took a toll on him. its real time consuming and its probably better suited for college kids who really don't have real jobs yet.
  9. JT snow is a solid backup option at first base. not but of a bat anymore but is still great with the glove.
  10. the guy has completely tailed off since his rookie year. i thought it would be just a sophmore slump but he has really gone in the tank.
  11. just told me he would never do it again if he had the chance. im not trying to talk anyone out of it but its real time consuming. you basically have no life. he told me he was glad it was over when the season ended. he really couldn't take it anymore.
  12. i am friends with dave on that show. he was really burned out by the end of the year. its consumes your entire life. he told me it was not as good as it looks to be.
  13. millwood got more money than he deserved. the red sox were smart to not give him a deal like the rangers did. hes not a 12 million dollar a year pitcher. hes a good pitcher but not a pitcher who should get 48 million guaranteed with an injury history that he has. the red sox did not need to sign him and have it looked at as a panic move because they lost damon. they will find ways to fill there roster.
  14. my friend from school was actually on that show. he got really burned out by the end of the year. he liked it but he would never do it again. he told me the cast was tired of it by august.
  15. there are good pitching free agents the next two seasons but we also have to take into account that at least half of them might re-sign with their current team.
  16. i want 170-180 innings. Gustavo Chacin threw 203 innings as a rookie for the blue jays and he is also 25 yrs old. papelbon has already gotten a taste of the big leagues. i want to build up his arm strength in the starting rotation. there is no reason to even start him in the bullpen. the red sox have remade there bullpen. he served a purpose last season because we didn't have a bullpen and he help stabalized it in late august and september. he got the experience of what it was like to pitch in the majors. he has a work ethic similar to roger clemens. he is everything you want from a pitcher. thats why he needs to be in the rotation.
  17. one red seat i agree that he is a horse that he deserves to be in the starting rotation. he basically saved the red sox last season. he has ace written all over him. you don't put future aces in the bullpen. he got his taste of the bigs last year in a few spot starts and the remainder of the year in the pen. he was one of the man reasons why the red sox even made the playoffs last year. a talent such as him is too good to waste in the bullpen.
  18. i hoped nesn canned michelle damon the second damon signed
  19. theo also had alot of his assistants and aides helping him to make the decisions. guys like hoyer and cherington and lajoie. those guys are still. im not going to judge them until i see a full team constructed by spring training. maybe the organization looked at the beckett deal and said they sold high on hanley ramirez. hes a nice talent but has he ever backed up his hype with his talent. no he has not. we would also be lucky if anabal sanchez became half of what josh beckett is. everyone is frowning over not resigning damon when it was the right move not to give him 52 million dollars over 4 years. he made 8 million last year. he does not deserve a raise of 5 million dollars.
  20. I like to know had theo done these exact same moves would we have been calling the front office dysfunctional. probably not. because everyone would have used the in theo we trust sentiment because he had built the world series team.
  21. worry about your own franchise and the fact of the age on it. marte is a lot better prospect than hanley ramirez. hanley has never put up the stats to back up his talent. marte is a huge upgrade from hanley. the only prospect i really was mad about giving up was anabal sanchez. the red sox stuck to their guns and didn't want to overpay for damon. they got a 25 yr old beckett as the frontline starter of the future. and since they had to take lowell to get the deal done the red sox can do that.
  22. all the former damon decipals should just toss their beards at him while he is in centerfield. i think that would be pretty cool.
  23. he had his adrenaline rush last season pitching in big games down the stretch as well as playoff games. he was the red sox best pitcher on the staff down the stretch and in the playoffs. hes 25 yrs old already. hes not baby anymore. its time to take the diapers off papelbon and let him start. without papelbon in the bullpen in late august and in september the red sox would never have made the playoffs.
  24. i heard basically the same thing one red seat that george and the yankee front office was wary over petitte's elbow. basically they didn't even talk to petitte until it was too late.
