  1. hes pretty good i was at the game tonight and he just is a such a solid goaltender.
  2. the sox were about 100,000 apart when they tried to sign teixeira. they had ample opportunity to sign him. also the scout in charge of signing him alienated teixeira's family
  3. here is what marte has done in the minors so far. http://www.soxprospects.com/players/marte-andy.htm
  4. pedro was worth only a 3 year deal to the red sox. why can't you understand that no matter how good of a pitcher he was he was not worth a 4 year deal to boston. the red sox were not moving off a 3 year deal and nor should they have.
  5. crisp or reed but not at the cost of marte, papelbon, or lester. im sorry but those players are valued highly in the baseball world and should be untradeable unless you are getting a star player in return something that neither crisp or reed are. i don't going with a stop gap like a jeff davanon. i see nothing wrong with that if the red sox are going to say that we are not trading our farm which they should not. its been a long time since the red sox have had a farm system like the one we have right now and they should not just throw it away for players like coco crisp who are fine players but not star players.
  6. i don't about griffey blocking ellsbury because he wouldn't. what i am saying is with griffey's injury history he has a taken a big step back in center field. he doesn't play with the same kind of fire in the outfield like he once did. his range is declining and combine that with his inability to stay healthy combined with big money coming his way the next 3 seasons it would be stupid to bring him to boston just for the sake of appeasing the fans with a so called star player when clearly he is not the best option.
  7. crisp is a nice player but for the mere fact we would be trading a potential 40 homer corner infielder along with mota and i think someone else I would expect to get Adam Miller back in this deal or I wouldn't even talk to the Guardians anymore
  8. griffey can hardly play center field right now. there is no way i want him for 2 seasons in center when he is already declining as an outfielder. plus the red sox already have a DH who is already a much better player than griffey is right now and making less money than him. there is no way in hell the red sox are going to waste resources and money on a declining/off injured player in griffey.
  9. CIF with power a much more difficult position to find than centerfielder's like crisp.
  10. if he does ya he will be a good pickup but i don't think he will be a star pitcher. the red sox got him for the best years of his career. he will never come close to topping his red sox years with the mets. the red sox gave him a fair 3 yr contract offer and he didn't accept it. he went for the bigger money anmd the longer contract. no team other than the mets was willing to go 4 years with pedro. the mets were the only fools who were willing to do that.
  11. ya another average pitcher to beat up on.
  12. those moves are really going to make miguel tejada happy. kris benson is nothing more than a .500 pitcher. the orioles certainly should not be giving up anything close to a good prospect in that trade if it goes down.
  13. teams tend to lock players like andy marte up before they reach free agency if they develop as they should or there is a massive bidding war for him. i would rather have a 40 homer potential guy as part of my future than trade him for coco crisp who is a fine player but nothing worth trading a blue chip top 10 prospect in baseball for. unless we are getting adam miller in a deal with crisp then I wouldn't do it.
  14. Trent Durrington is a long shot to even make this team. He has practically no shot to make it out of spring training. he just does not have the talent as so of the other players we have and the only way he makes is if the red sox have injuries in spring training.
  15. i think all pedro did was have a meeting with them in tampa but that was it. they rarely showed any interest after that as they were more focused on carl pavano than pedro. but it does speak volumes that their really only 2 teams after pedro. it shows the concerns that those other teams had in pedro's arm.
  16. Just wanted to start this thread for people who want to talk about tomorrow's games even though the patriots won't be in it I will still be watching. For some reason I like both road teams in these games.
  17. I would rather not give up marte as finding corner infielder with 40 homer potential are harder to find than centerfielders. all the red sox need is a stop to hold the fort for a season or two until jacoby ellsbury is ready.
  18. i guess you will only be happy when they acquire stars. i don't pay to see star. i pay to see wins. you don't need stars to win games.
  19. the sox didn't blow it. just because they didn't give the guy 4 years doesn't mean they didn't blow it. any team in baseball would have been crazy to give pedro 4 years. there was one team that was a sucker and that team was the mets. i didn't see teams banging down pedro's door to give him 4 years. the red sox offer was a very fair offer. he just went for the bigger dollar. the red sox were very wary of his shoulder and had the right not to give him a 4 year contract. the mets overpaid for him because they needed to in order to sign him to have credibility for their fans.
  20. i am in total agreement with you. griffey would be a terrible pickup
  21. i said the royals because they are poorly managed and have a weak farm system with really no hope for the future.
  22. they still have time to turn it around. they need to get their goaltenders healthy in order to do it but i love the way sturm and bergeron are playing together right now.
  23. im sorry he is not a star player but he is a player that can help this team. the red sox don't need to be made up of stars players through the entire roster in order to win games.
  24. Griffey is actually under contract until 2008 with a team option for 2009 something the reds will never pick up. he is still owed big money those next 3 years. no matter how much the red sox saved on pedro, damon, and renteria i want no part of griffey for the mere fact he is a DH now and he cannot stay healthy and carries a big contract. the red sox front office is smarter than going after players like ken griffey jr. who are on the downside of their career.
