  1. baseball discussions are meant to be fun with alittle arguing mixed in
  2. the odds are highly against sean henn from even being a top of the rotation guy letting alone being a decent 4th or 5th starter. all the yanks want from him is to pitch decent for the clippers so they can pump him up and dump him. he does not have alot of trade value as his stuff is pretty mediocre.
  3. maybe its because they don't want to pay alex gonzalez the 5 million a yr he is looking for because he isn't that good. im not concerned yet we have no one in center and at short. i still think we will get reed when the mariners stop with their ridiculous demands.
  4. ill give him a break but he is still not a top pitching prospect. he won't even crack baseball america's top 100.
  5. there are better options than pokey reese out there. he may be great with the glove but can't hit for crap. alex cora is a better player than pokey because at least he can give you some offense.
  6. he laid an egg in 3 starts because he maybe he does not have the talent to be a highly touted pitcher like you said. on the other hand jonathan papelbon in 3 starts before stabalizing the bullpen had 3 solid starts in which he got 3 no decisions but kept the sox in the game to win it. he at least pitched into the 6th inning in his starts while henn couldn't even make it past the fifth inning. i think talent has alot to do with the fact that henn got bombed and papelbon did not. henn is just not as talented as papelbon and the other pitchers that i mentioned. every organization has a pitcher like sean henn. the red sox have him in abe alvarez.
  7. im not forgetting 2004. i never will but i would rather look to the future and what lies ahead. the red sox are in good shape for the future with prospects on the way and money to spend next season when the free agent class gets better.
  8. henn is not highly touted. he isnt even in the same breath as any of the top pitching prospects in baseball such as lester, papelbon, verlander, king felix, billingsbly, olsen, liriano, anibal sanchez, zumaya. i mean come on those are legimitate pitching prospects. henn will be lucky to be even a 5th starter someday. henn is only highly touted in new york to pump up his value to use in a trade.
  9. no one is going to cry over kevin millar and im not going to look back on the 2004 red sox because i am excited about the future and all the great young talent on the horizon.
  10. id like to see more from cano before i annoint him the next great thing. he has some nice tools but he might not have what it takes to play second base because his defense is not very good. wang might have been a surprise but his K rate is not what you want from him and he could have problems if he can't get strikeouts.
  11. if colter bean was any good the he would have been on the yankees last year when they were having bullpen problems. henn is a nobody who wouldn't crack anyone other systems top 10. melky as i said the jury is still out on. philips is a nothing. a backup at best. all their talent is at A ball and lower. they don't have a system that compares to the red sox. there farm system won't even crack baseball america's top 20. its a system that is not in real good shape.
  12. does anyone really care what kevin millar thinks. he had a terrible year last yr and he thought the red sox would bring him back. he will be lucky to find work next season
  13. with pokey signed by the marlins hanley now will have to compete for the starting job.
  14. the sox have alot more players closer to contributing at the major league level. all im saying about the yanks is the upper levels are pretty dry of talent. they have talent from A ball down to rookie league. that talent is still too far away to determine if it will do anything. if hughes can't stay healthy then their system will take a hit because they don't have another pitcher like him in the minors.
  15. its pretty bad in the upper part of the system. even the yankees front office didn't think wang and cano would produce what they did. the red sox farm system is in 100 times better shape than the yankees. if philip hughes can't stay healthy then it will be even worse than it is.
  16. he obviously didn't do his homework. i mean he put andy philips on that list. he has no clue about the yankees farm system.
  17. bean is a stiff, so is henn, melky the jury is out on, philips is a journeyman, basically everyone on that list is a nobody except eric duncan. cano is not a prospect anymore and neither is wang. id would still like to see more of them before i would annoint them good players. the yankees farm system won't even crack the baseball america top 20 while the red sox are easily in the top 10 and had they still had anibal sanchez and hanley ramirez they would have been top 5 no problem. the yankees system has duncan, hughes, and maybe J brent cox. they have a bunch of talent at A ball and you can't even get excited about that until they even get higher.
  18. just because manny has asked for a trade doesn't mean he is going to be traded. i am actually happy with the future of the red sox as they start to bring in more youth to the team as the yankees continue to get older and forget about a farm system.
  19. cool down. the red sox had a short window of opportunity to win a title. its not like that team was constructed to win multiple titles because they were not. they had a lot of old players who were close to free agency. it was impossible to sign them all. i am happy they did not overpay to bring back pedro and damon because frankly they are not worth it and there contracts would have crippled the red sox towards the end.
  20. actually moving to the northeast will help a pitcher that has blister problems as their is less humidity in the air that sometimes are the cause of blisters problems.
  21. hanley hasnt even backed up his top prospect status with the stats in the minors. they acquired an even better prospect in andy marte. the red sox will also have 3 quality starters under the 30 the next few years in beckett, papelbon and lester. by the time those 3 are in the rotation together randy johnson and mussina will be practically done. they may already be close to done already. other teams will also not let their top starters hit free agency as they will lock them up prior to free agency. the yankees failure to develop a farm system is going to come back to bite them as they continue to get older and older and continue to fork over draft picks.
  22. unless the mets are throwing lastings milledge in a trade for manny they can pretty much forget it.
  23. not at the contract in which he got would i want millwood.
  24. after seeing what the market has done this year and the way he pitched the down the stretch and into the playoffs i can see him asking for that. after washburn got 9 million dollars nothing would surprise me anymore.
  25. of course no one wants to listen to us because all they read is media reports. they know nothing of boras tactics of how he negoiates. boras has used those tactics for years to drive the prices up for his players.
