  1. i expect schilling to bounce back because the injury takes about 18 months to fully recover and we will be past that come opening day. johnson is older and has no cartilage in his knee. his velocity is also down. he will be solid but will not win 20 games. id say 15-16 wins for johnson is the most you will get as his best days are behind him.
  2. i would not say never. you never know. i wouldn't be shocked to see him come back as president of baseball operations if he does come back.
  3. shortstop is not a worry as it can be handled defensively by cora and they can always move pedroia back there. i would pass on lugo with the demands of the devil rays. centerfield is the more pressing issue right now. i go out and get reed but i wouldn't give up any of our top prospects to do it.
  4. having youkilis and snow playing at first is a major upgrade than what we saw with millar who was pathetic last year. i don't see alot of teams banging on millar's door to sign him. the sox definitely upgraded at first base. now we just need to fill centerfield and shortstop.
  5. they changed who had the most power from soto to marte today on BA
  6. good signing....he will be a solid backup to youkilis and a very good defensive replacement
  7. i was surprised as well that marte didn't have the best power....maybe its a good sign that soto can also become a power hitter like marte.
  8. here is the scouting report on beam Tall lefty who has impressed quite a few scouts early in his pro career. His arsenal includes a mid-to-high-80s fastball, a slurve curveball and a very good changeup. Beam has closed since being drafted by Boston, but he is also especially adept at getting out left-handed hitters.

  10. one day he wants out the next day he wants to stay....... one day he wants out the next day he wants to stay....... one day he wants out the next day he wants to stay....... one day he wants out the next day he wants to stay....... one day he wants out the next day he wants to stay....... one day he wants out the next day he wants to stay....... one day he wants out the next day he wants to stay....... will this ever stop we will never know
  11. it doesn't make sense at all. we are giving them one of the best right handed hitters in the game in manny and a pitcher in clement and probably cash. we should get at least a prospect if they are gettting significant amount of cash and that prospect should be Nick Markakis if we are giving them about 13-15 million in this transaction. they should not even think about asking for one of our prospects.
  12. all these rumors are bull in my mind like the one today by tony mazz. he has been writing crap for last few months. he has no idea about the red sox farm system and he also has no idea about other teams farm systems like the orioles. he comes out and say the orioles will just throw in their top prospect Nick Markakis just like that. mazz probably doesn't even know who he is and just said thats who the sox would want because he is the o's top prospect.
  13. the sox won't give the orioles any of our pitching prosects. we are not as desperate as they think we are. they have been running a pathetic organiztion for a long time their in baltimore and it starts with the moron at the top in angelos.
  14. that wouldn't be bad trading clement instead of arroyo but remember they still have to trade wells before spring training.
  15. they shouldn't be mentioned in any trade. they will anchor the rotation for many yrs along with beckett if they can all stay healthy. i also would not trade marte as well. those 3 should untouchable.
  16. i wonder how much boone has left in the tank. he will likely battle kaz to play second but should win out because kaz is awful. the mets desperately want to dump and might have to pay at least 5 million of the 7 million to get rid of him.
  17. the mets now have hardly anyone to trade if they wanted to make a big deal. milledge is impressive but outside of him the rest of the mets farm system is not impressive.
  18. if we can use arroyo to fill other holes i have no problem with papelbon as a fifth starter because he is more than ready to take over as a #5 starter. arroyo's strikeout numbers have gone down the past yr. if the sox can trade him while he still has some value then they have to do it in order to fill a hole.
  19. foulke should get the first opportunity to close. with so many solid arms in the pen papelbon needs to focus on starting because that is where his future is.
  20. that has to be an old list. it doesn't even have any angels prospects on it like brandon wood, howie kenrick, jeff mathis, kendry morales. it has kotchman and macpherson though. that is definitely an old list and not from this season. if it is.....it is a pathetic list.
  21. nixon can barely stay heathy anymore for a full season. he doesn't have the best range anymore. injuries have hurt his ability to play right field at a high level. hes not as good in the field as he used to be. age does have a factor on how players play in the field. just ask bonds. hes a former gold glover who can barely play the field now because of injuries. nixon has been injury prone for most of his career. he best outfield position for the red sox now would be in left field if ramirez was not there because he would not have to cover as much ground because of the wall.
  22. no way they pass bush up. he is an electric player. barry sanders did alot of his running without an offensive line.
  23. he is something special to watch. the only concern i would is having him getting overworked before he even reaches age 25. he is tall but only is listed at 170. i wouldn't want to see a talent like him turn out to be like doc gooden. not saying he will do the coke like gooden but you have to worry about him getting hurt.
  24. all i know is that he must be on the major league roster for 18 more days before he can be sent to pawtucket.
  25. well stern has to be on the roster for 18 days to fullfill his rule 5 duties.
