if graff and loretta are your two guys up the middle the red sox are going to have serious defensive issues. also the red sox will never trade papelbon or lester in any deal unless they are getting a star player in return.

marte in right would be a disaster in fenway park. nixon at his age now can barely play it. nixon does not have the speed to play in center. he could never cover all that ground. he could only do it in a pinch if needed.

those are some fielding stats for loretta at short. alot of why he really is not a shortstop is because of his range factor.

The Padres yesterday renewed talks with the Red Sox regarding David Wells. All indications are that the Padres would still want to include Woody Williams in a Wells deal. "If we got Wells, it probably would mean a pitcher going back the other way," GM Kevin Towers said. The Red Sox have interest in Dave Roberts, but not if it means taking Williams' salary, too. i would agree with that. thats the best you will do for wells. broxton is rated #5 by BA. jackson has been a disappointment so far.

he has not played short stop in awhile. he can play it but he does not have the range that is needed from a shortstop. the red sox would probably prefer to have someone who had better range than loretta at short and i wouldnt be shocked to see the sox go into the sesaon with cora at short if they could not find anyone.

the deal is official pending a physical. it is worth between 10-12 million over 2 years.

the next two free agent classes will easily top this one and im happy the red sox will did not overpay for average free agents in this class.

the fact that tampa overvalues their players is going to only hurt them as they will never be able to trade any of them because of their ridiculous demands thus letting all their players enter free agency with nothing in return except maybe a few draft picks. how stupid can tampa still be. i actually thought they improved when they brought in andrew friedman and gerry hunsicker.

he is baseball america's #1 prospect as well as many other experts. the dodgers would laugh at the red sox if they asked for billingsley for wells.

i have never been the biggest JD Drew fan but when healthy he can be a productive player. he showed it at times with the cardinals and had a really good season in 2004 with the braves. its not a question of talent its if he can stay healthy.

with the dodgers having interest in wells maybe they do a deal for JD drew. it wouldn't be straight up but those 2 would be the headliner names.

if they release him before spring training i believe i heard they only have to pay 1/6 of his salary for 2006. they will most likely move him in a trade instead.

Billingsley for Wells? billingsley is their #1 prospect in a deep dodgers system. there is probably zero chance he will ever be traded for wells.

i heard broxton but i don't think the dodgers would give him up. ned colleti has a giants background so many he has alittle of sabean in him as well in which he would give up young talent for aging veterans.

they have brandon mccarty so one of their starters will get traded. mccarty is a solid option as a number #5 pitcher and he makes 300k

marte has put up the stats while hanley has never matched the stats with his tools. marte is a much better prospect than hanley and plays a premium corner position where it is tough to find stud prospects.

there were no other teams. boras always uses a mystery team with every one of his clients. its a negiotiating ploy. no other team offered damon 6 years. they would have been crazy to do so.

both loretta and graffanino are average defensively and each have limited range. putting both of them up the middle would weaken the red sox defense where it is most important(up the middle). that is why i can see cora starting at short and loretta at second.

marte is as close to untouchable as a red sox prospect.

they are only going to trade manny if they can get equal value in return which they won't so do not worry manny is not going anywhere even though he wants to be traded. the red sox will not trade him for 50 cents on a dollar.

im not saying your front runners because alot of yankee fans are not but the yanks were not very good back then so many people might not even remember it.
