  1. So now you are a mind reader. You can read my mind and Bloom's mind too!
  2. Both legs are involved in the stretch. It’s not like a non-pitching arm.
  3. Not the Home Run Derby pitchers?
  4. I’ll be happy if Schwarber makes it back before September regardless of his position.
  5. Will they keep him on the roster as a late inning defensive replacement for Schwarber sliding Verdugo over to LF and using him as a Pinch Runner. Not the best thing for his development, but they could start him twice a week.
  6. Is that your plan… go easy on the stretch’s? Should he bend down for low throws?
  7. We will have to see what they do, but putting a guy at 1B with no experience can cost your IF a lot of errors. And you can also pull a hammy getting out of bed, but the stretch at 1B is something that has often caused Hamstrings to pop. It is a maneuver that cannot be avoided if you are playing that position.
  8. They caught a lot of breaks in the first 100 games. Can it continue without meaningful reinforcements?
  9. They never should have had him start the season with the big team. It ruined his value. He might have had some impressive #s at AAA if he had been there all season.
  10. Did he catch much? I thought he found success at 1B.
  11. Schwarber to LF (his natural position), Verdugo to CF (he has had a lot of time in CF), Hernandez 2B (his natural position), Marwin, Dalbec, Arroyo and the kitchen sink at 1B.
  12. I haven’t heard any rumors with official sources that they will be moving him to 1B. I think they will be lucky if they get him back at all before September. And 1B is not a good place to put a guy with a cranky hammy. He could pop that on his first stretch to get a throw.
  13. If ERod doesn’t step up, the Red Sox will need to buy tickets to get into a post season game. It will be a quick death spiral.
  14. Is this a death spiral?
  15. This team was getting by on enthusiasm and late inning magic. Their pitching is among the worst, if not the worst, of any contending team. The lack of reinforcements demonstrates a lack of belief in this team and that will be viewed as an abandonment by the players. You can only go so far on enthusiasm and late inning magic. This could go in the wrong direction very dramatically.
  16. I think they might feel that the FO gave up on them after seeing the flurry of moves made by so many teams while the Red Sox stayed almost entirely idle except for landing a big bat that is on the IL who plays a position at which we didn’t need help.
  17. I think we will be seeing more games like this.
  18. And he didn’t have the chips or the dough to land any starting pitchers? What about first baseman? Not having the chips to land Scherzer is one thing, but not having the chips to land any decent starting pitcher is something I can’t buy into. You completely foreclose the possibility that Bloom was simply not willing to spend the chips to get a starting pitcher or first baseman.
  19. Do we know what he offered? Maybe if he offered more than he did, he would have landed him. Maybe he could have taken salary. We don’t know if he could have gotten him. It’s pure apologist speculation by you. All we know is that the first place team made no significant moves to address the team needs. The 3 teams chasing the Red Sox made several significant moves. That’s all that we know. But continue with your excuses and be prepared to continue with those excuses if this team collapses and doesn’t make the post season.
  20. If I answer that I would not make that trade, it is specious reasoning to think that would absolve Bloom for not getting what this team needs down the stretch. And maybe I would have done the deal to get Scherzer. After all, it is Scherzer, and I would feel pretty good going into the post season with Scherzer and Sale at the top of the rotation.
