Hate to see a hitter take one off his hand. When did trainers stop using that freeze spray stuff, and why did they stop using it? I haven’t seen that used in years.
Our last 3 GM’s had some things in common. Each won at least one division title (3 for Dave) and each won at least one World Championship (2 for Theo). Bloom has a long way to go to compare with any of them.
We have a faction of members who are Bloom Boys. Almost to a person, they were also Benny Boys. They have a very hard time dealing with criticism of those GMs. But they had no problem criticizing DD while he was building a three peat in the division and a wire to wire dominant World Champion. They have a different perspective from me.
And if Theo didn’t trade Hanley, we really can’t give him full credit for 2007, because Beckett and Lowell played a much bigger role on that team than Theo’s acquisitions of Drew, Lugo and Dice K.
It’s not my bar. LOL! It is the bar set by his career stats. His performance has exceeded my expectations. He was headed to palooka-ville when he was with the Phillies.
Theo built the team from scratch? He didn’t bring in Pedro or Manny or Trot Nixon or DLowe or Varitek. And he gave up a bigger prospect than DD ever did when he traded Hanley who had and excellent career.
Moncada? Kopech? Margot? Really? That has you so upset. Who were the other future everyday players that he gave away? And he brought back Sale (a top 5 pitcher) and Kimbrel (a likely Hall of Famer). I think those were pretty good trades.
But we must hate and revile the man who was at the helm for 3 consecutive Division titles which had never been done before by the Red Sox and we will have or live a long time if we want to see it again. He also was at the helm of the winningest most dominant Red Sox championship team in history. He deserves scorn, because he traded Moncada and and few other nobodies.
Tonight was a good start. Sale should destroy the O’s tomorrow. Then we will need to see good Erod for a sweep. That will give the team some confidence and momentum and hopefully Bloom gets rid of Robles.
I am not expecting a lot of help from him. Dave caught lightning in a bottle with him in ‘18. It’s well past the time that he he should have gone back to moving furniture.
But my prediction was wrong and the Red Sox are not going to lose 90 games and they were in first place after 100 games. Do you consider that to be a shambles? Nice try.
He left in 2019 and the team was in first place after 100 games in 2021 after a bad shortened 2021. I’d hardly call that a shambles, and DD would have gotten the horses to make the stretch drive. He wins wherever he goes. Bloom can only dream of having that career.
