  1. It was and is a legitimate thread. The state of our pitching is a huge concern not just to fans, but I heard last night's pre-game radio show and Farrell is very concerned as well. The porblem is not that thread but a few jackholes (and you know who they are) who insist on demeaning posters for their opinions about baseball and the Red Sox.
  2. He'd rather accuse you of something, which by the way, I don't think anyone else took it the way he did.
  3. Just proves that your hate filter for iortiz has short circuited your ability to read and comprehend. He was clearly asking her to bet $. His reference to "boys" was not sexist or exclusionary. It was clearly a reference distinguishing between child and adult. Otherwise the invitation in the same post to bet money makes no sense. He rebuffed the offer to bet a sig saying it was for "boys". Certainly, it should be clear to you by now that ioriz is someone who prefers to bet cash, and he invited her to bet cash. He didn't say sig bets were for girls. English is your first language but when colored by your hate filter, you get things pretty messed up. But by all means, tell iortiz what he meant to say when he posted that, because you know better than he what was in his mind.
  4. Plus, our fans and friends here will not know who to root for or against. Their hate will consume them and we will just be haqving fun. Don't bother reseraching U.S. IPAs yet. I'm usually pretty good on these bets.
  5. Israel, did you open your books for 1 more Porcello bet?
  6. You didn't. You said that sig bets were for boys not for men, but today in the US all references must be gender neutral or you get accused of stuff. So, you see the "victim mentality" requires that you say sig bets are for children not for adults, and then you would only be accused of hating children. LOL!!!
  7. Signig a guy to a long term contract that continues into his 40s just makes no sense.
  8. No, don't close it yet. Leave it open for one more bet. Although I think the FO could have waited until June to have extended Porcello, I do think he will be our best starter. If his ERA is over 4, we are in deep poo as a team. Plus, he is on one of my fantasy teams. Let's show the jackholes here that betting can be done between friends and that it is not an act of war. LOL! But let's make the bet for a case of beer. I'll wager an American IPA of your choice and you wager a fine Mexican beer. I'll take the under 4 with no qualifiers. What do you say? It should be interesting friendly competition.
  9. A very enjoyable game for a change-- well pitched and good defense. Thatks how the game is played. Porcello has continued to strike ouit more men then he has in the past, and yesterday he was able to do it without elevating his pitches and having the hitters turn them into home runs. That is what he will need to do to be a top of the rotation guy-- miss more bats and keep the ball in the ballpark.
  10. If they don't like monetary bets, then they can wager signatures. I believe that there is at least one of those on the table, and we have been doing those at TalkSox for years. If people don't even want to make a gentleman's pinkie bet or signature bet, it indicates that they have no conviction in the stuff that they are blathering.
  11. A little superstitious are we?
  12. Porcello is pitching a nice game and he is staying away from the Home Run ball.
  13. Porcello is the guy that least concerns me.
  14. Is anyone watching the Orioles' game?
  15. I don't think they will be dead last, but they need to improve about 8 spots just to stay at .500 for the season.
  16. Don't let reality and the statiscal track records of the staff interfere with the hopes and dreams of those who put their trust in Ben Cherington.
  17. The Yankees have the advantage of taking on more of the financila burden, so they might get away with less prospect cost.
  18. A team is never as bad as it looks when it is going bad and is never as good as it looks when it is going good. We are .500 right now, neither good nor bad. Maybe this is what this team is -- good hitting and crappy pitching.
  19. It's harmless opinion. Get over it. State your own opinions and move on. Criticizing others for their own opinions always leads to a s*** show. Edit: Do something useful with your time and kick U.N.'s ass and put it on Youtube so we can post it here.
  20. If you knew you were overreacting, you wouldn't be overreacting. Also, I didn't say that others weren't overreacting. I said that it was not true that people are throwing in the towel on the season.
  21. Hannigan running the bases baffles me. He doesn"t appear to be moving that slow, but he has been thrown out at first after infielders have booted his groundballs, they did a juggling act and autographed the ball, and the play at first isn't even close. I swear, I think he could hit a ball into the triangle, the CFer could get knocked unconscious running into the wall and the RFer and LFer could collide and break each others legs and Hannigan would be held to a single.
  22. ^This isn't true. This is your overreaction. People are just taking note that the preseason concerns about our pitching were valid and further noting that something will need to be done about it if they want to seriously contend. The current rotation is not going to dramatically turn things around. They aren't the worst staff in the majors imo, but they are a mediocre bunch that will burn out our bullpen in a couple of months. The good news is that the entire division seems to be fighting for the bottom of the standings instead of the top of the standings.
  23. They are going to have to mute the field microphones and tell the players to watch their language. The umpire's calls will sound like they are being made in your living room.
