  1. That was a bigger bomb than the first shot.
  2. I am optimistic that improvement will come in the form of reinforcements from Pawtucket or possibly a trade. We have already replaced Masterson with Wright who is throwing a good game tonight. I am not optinimistic about Miley or Kelly and Buch is also a long shot at finding consistency. The five that we broke camp with were mediocre at best but they have turned out to stink.
  3. Buck is a Cardinal guy. That is why he has a man crush on Pujols.
  4. Lol! When you are at the bottom of the pack, there is only one direction to trend.
  5. It looked like a routine DP, but Buck has a mancrush on Pujols so he is making a big deal about it.
  6. Wow, that was was some play! I think Mookie was safe. It is nice to have speed.
  7. Victorino is injured again. He is going to get the Mark Prior Suite in the DL hotel.
  8. That still stinks-- not even in the middle of the pack this month after a good stretch of pitching.
  9. We will have to disagree on that. They will need to add some pitching pieces to improve. They are not a good team as presently constituted.
  10. 14th in the AL and 27th in MLB in ERA is not mediocre.
  11. 2-8 at home this month. Wow!!
  12. Yankees taking a 10-0 drubbing in the 6 the inning. CC is done. Stick a fork in him.
  13. Gentlemen? I appreciate the compliment.
  14. I don't think the W-L record in light of our run differential is an enigma at all, nor do I think our hitting is an enigma or our pitching. You can find statistics that will back lots of conflicting theories. The stats show that our hitters should be producing more, but the run differential shows that we should be losing more games. It's the art of statistics, finding the stats that support your argument. I don't need any stats to tell me that this is not a good team. The whole division is a pile of dog crap, so I can see us being competitive until the end as the entire division sputters to the finish. I can also see that Tampa, Baltimore or the Yankees catch fire and run away from the rest of the field. The Sox and Toronto will languish and need to hope that everyone plays down to our level. There is a possibility that we get a spark from Johnson or Rodriguez for our pitching staff, but I don't think that will be enough for this soggy collection of mediocrity to catch fire.
  15. Based on our run differential, our record is also an enigma. Our record should be far worse.
  16. I thought I saw him looking at hitting charts in the dugout last night, but it turned out that it was just some take out food menus.
  17. you and I remember Jim Rice and Freddie Lynn being dominant stars as rookies whole we had Cecil Cooper taking a couple of seasons to develop as a premier hitter and the same for Dewey. That all came after a big tall rock of a man called Pudge hit the scene as a star catcher in 1972. Dick O'Connell built all of that. They were an exciting group of young stars. We haven't seen anything close to that since then. They were so good and exciting that they helped Yaz revive his career. The excitement of the kids rubbed off on him and pushed him even harder than he had been pushing himself.
  18. An enigma. Our record should be much worse.
  19. Yeah sure, that is what the girl from Brazil said when she was with Spud.
  20. After that stretch of good pitching, our pitching a regressed all the way to 14th in the AL in ERA and 27th in MLB going into tonight's game. That will certainly look worse after tonight's game.
  21. Nava has been futile this year.
