  1. We looked like a little league team on that play.
  2. And this is why we have to not give away outs on the bases. It cost us at least one run and now they have taken the lead with no one out.
  3. Too many words to describe the same behavior -- stupid baserunning -- a hallmark of Farrell teams.
  4. We get a lot of guys thrown out on the bases -- too many for a team that has trouble scoring runs. There was absolutely no reason to send Napoli with no outs. We run the bases like idiots.
  5. Bases jammed and no outs. Come on big inning!
  6. His k's are up but so are the home run balls. It's not a bad trade off if the homers are usually solo shots.
  7. Yankees are getting pounded by the Rangers 6-0.
  8. Porcello has become more of a strikeout pitcher this season.
  9. He hasn't been the same since running into the wall. I think he got all of his May hits in one game.
  10. That isn't so easy with the very short benches carried by teams today where pitchers make up 11 or 12 roster spots. The solution is 4 or 5 scheduled double headers, but the greed of the game will not allow it. An extra half dozen off days would make a big difference IMO with regard to keeping guys fresh.
  11. Castillo has been called up and Bradley sent down, most likely to be traded at some point.
  12. Because Brady has reached the top of his profession -- clearly the best post-season QB in history and maybe the best QB of all-time. He has reached iconic status so he must be destroyed.
  13. The difference between JBJ and XB is that XB underperformed expectations but was not atrocious. His fielding needed more work than anything, and he has done the work and the improvement is noticeable. His offense was disappointing, but not bad for a SS, nevermind a 21 year old SS. Bradley, on the other hand, was atrocious offensively. I read an article a while back (some would call it a study) about players who had a full season as bad as JBJ's. There are very very few instances where those players went on to become proficient hitters. The odds are against Bradley. Also, Bradley is 3 years older than XB, so he is on a shorter leash.
  14. There are a myriad of ways to succeed and fail. They don't follow any formula. You will drive yourself crazy with that stuff. Searching for a statistical reason for why we suck will not change the fact that we suck. Looking for positive statiscal trends to give us hope that we will start playing better doesn't mean much either, because those trends can change to the negative. People think that we will start winning a lot more games if the offense heats up. That maybe so, but if that coincides with the pitching going flat again, then maybe not. Good teams find ways to put things together to win games. It is not just the outcome of a bunch of random statistics. That being said, keep the stats coming that give us hope. We need all the hope that we can get, because this team is hard to watch right now.
  15. Done in by a super model girlfriend. Kryptonite.
  16. Those adjustments he made after talking to Pedey have worked wonders for Naps.
  17. I don't put much stock in the positive effect of pitching or hitting coaches on individual performances, but goodness, with this many guys stinking up the place, I think the team batting average would go up 20 points if the owners retrieved Ted Williams' head.
  18. Panda has made better contact with his knee than with his bat this week.
  19. There are $72 million reasons to bring him up.
  20. This is so frustrating. Wandy is a half full hefty garbage bag and he is schooling us like the no-name last night schooled us.
  21. It's been an ugly and frustrating beginning of the season. The pitchers have looked like garbage at times and the hitters have been in a recent coma and so has the coaching staff and the onfield managing, but whether you are an optimist who thinks they are performing below expectations or a cynic who thinks it has been a s*** show, this team is pretty close to being where we hoped they would be -- around .500 and sticking with the rest of the pack. The question is whether they have what it takes to keep hanging in.
  22. XB has been very solid in the field this year. His footwork going to his left is much improved. I am no longer concerned about him handling the position. He could still improve on charging slow hit balls, but other than that, I have not seen many flaws -- regardless of what the metrics say. LOL!!
  23. One win and done for me on the game threads. This should have been an easy one for us.
