    if Rodriguez is the Real McCoy, it was a great deal for a reliever. In that case, there was a bidding war for Miller and Ben played it right. He should have taken a similar tact with Lackey instead of accepting used spare parts from the Cardinals.

    "Errand Boy" is kind with the junk that he has run out there this season. I don't think that I am being harsh. If they finish last in 3 of 4 years, that will be a record of futility that none of us have witnessed in our life times. You would have to go back to the 1920's when they were playing in a half burned down ballpark to match such terrible results. I call him an errand boy, because I have checked his resume, and there is nothing distinguishing in it academically or professionally. They rewarded a loyal assistant with a job that is way over his head IMO. If this season continues like this, the fault is at his doorstep.

    I was thinking the same thing. Why would Porcello go away from his bread and butter -- the sinker? It doesn't make sense, and his transition to a power strikeout pitcher is not having good results.

    I went to the Mets game to see Matt Harvey pitch. I never give up on our boys. I was following on my phone. Wright's results were not bad against a hot offense. How did he look?

    Marcus semien is having a good season. He's eligible at SS, 2B and 3B.

    I really think this is wishful thinking. He is just as likely an errand boy whose loyalty has been rewarded with a job that is over his head. There is nothing in his his education or work resume that would indicate a high level of intelligence. I am pretty sure that he would get smoked in TalkSox Fantasy. Lol!

    Kimmi, if you are so positive about a last place team, your head must be spinning when the team is on a good run. LOL!! If we didn't have hope, we couldn't watch. Keep the positives coming!

    Definitely this move was compelled by the failure of the 5 starters that started the season. If our starting pitching is to get better, it will be due to an infusion of new blood from the minors or through a trade. The 5 guys that started the season were not going to improve enough to make us competitive. Hopefully, Masterson and Kelly don't make any more starts other than an occasional spot start.

    I could never figure out which weather conditions favored the knuckler, whether wind helped or hurt and whether it made a difference if the wind was blowing in or out. Also, he pitched well in domes.

    And is there something wrong with being obsessive if it doesn't hurt anyone? No. But bossing people around is okay. Not. Edit: And it is curious how these same people have not called it obsessive when a poster declares his psychotic hatred of a thousand burning suns toward you. Do they excuse that as a mere figure of speech?

    Good point. I don't know why they get annoyed about it. It is a constant reminder to me that I will owe you a case of beer, but I don't get my underwear twisted in a knot over it.

    He was very impressive last night. If Wright pitches well tonight, Kelly will have to get a set of bullpen spoons and start practicing his musical talent.

    Pete, I just thought that you unnecessarily stirred the pot on a night when we had a game and a performance to enjoy. You did call him a "bore", so there was some name-calling. I don't want to argue with you, but we know that UN has professed a psychotic hate for Iortiz, so any endorsement of his criticisms of iortiz are likely to spin out of control. Peace brother. Maybe we can get another good start tomorrow from the other PawSox alumnus. That would be fun.

    Pete, keep it to yourself. He wasn't insulting anyone. If you want to speak up, smack down UN when he gets personally insulting. That is a problem... whether or not he is your friend. Everyone on this board is irritating in his or her own way. That shouldn't be anyone's focus.
