  1. Two Homer day by Pedey. Too bad Porcello is sucking.
  2. He is giving up too many home run balls this year. His gopher balls are way up.
  3. Damn, bases jammed for Hunter and Mauer with 1 out.
  4. A shut down inning would be nice after taking the lead.
  5. Getting a lead is the only chance we have. When we get down early, it is over and out.
  6. Good time for Pedey to go on a tear and ignite the lineup.
  7. 2 innings on 17 pitches. I love that efficiency.
  8. 13 pitches 5 outs. Keep it going.
  9. You have to love when your pitcher has a 6 pitch inning.
  10. You had become accustomed to being competitive on a daily basis. That is not entitled. You had a reasonable expectation of being competitive as you had become accustomed to it. You were not entitled to a winning team as entitled connotes that you have a right. As fans we have no right to anything except to watch and buy a seat. The reason why you are struggling with the word "entitled" is because it is out of place when discussing a fans relationship with his team.
  11. Getting new blood in the rotation is the only chance we have of improving enough to be competitive. Wright earned an additional start. Hopefully, this kid does well and can win a job. I am assuming that Kelly would be exiled to the pen.
  12. I know some people are convinced that our hitting has been a product of bad luck, but on the Sunday night game one of the analysts provided a stat that debunks that notion. The Red Sox are at the bottom or toward the bottom in velocity of batted balls. We just don't hit the ball very hard. That is bad hitting not bad luck. Hanley looks injured, Ortiz looks old and overmatched by good heat, Sandoval is atrocious against lefties and Nava has been completely useless. He used to be useless from the right side and that dragged down his stats, but now he is used almost exclusively as a lefty (his good side) and he has been atrocious.
  13. I read a funny line by a Boston newspaper writer. He said that he was convinced that Joe Kelly was in the rotation only to make Buchholz look consistent.
  14. This team needs to have some fight, show some resiliency and establish an identity. As soon as they are down in a game, you can turn off the game and leave the ballpark, because they roll over and die. They need a few comeback wins to get some confidence and galvanize the clubhouse. RIght now they have is a loser's demeanor. No life. If they can't get it together soon, Ben will need to do what Theo did in 2004-- shake things up and inject some life into this team. I love how the ball comes off Hanley's bat, but he is a slug in every other aspect of the game. Manny brought a zanny goofy exuberance to the game. Hanley looks like he needs a double shot of espresso before each game.
  15. My recollection is that Pal questioned the wisdom of move at the time of the trade. His concerns have been validated.
  16. It's hard for me to buy this as an explanation for a 25 year drought.
  17. Sure. Hurst was great, but he pre-dates Clemens.
  18. They didn't need to take a calculated risk. They had a known cheap commodity. They shouldn't have taken risks and payroll in return. They should have received a solid prospect. There's no sugar-coating this one.
  19. Key word ^ savy.
  20. We definitely all thought it was odd. When SBF said before the trade that he had heard Lackey wanted out of town, he was mocked. In the end, it looks like there had to be something to the rumor considering what we got in return. Ben, still should have done better, regardless of Lackey's discontent. I think what we are starting to see is that BEn is truly out of his depth in running this organization and producing a consistent winning product on the field.
  21. For $500k, it was worth it to call his bluff and risk getting nothing, which is essentiallwhat we got for him. He may not have wanted to be here, but they should have done a better job of getting other teams bidding against each other for his services. Just because he didn't want to be here didn't mean that he wasn't a very valuable commodity.
