  1. It's a mirage that we are still competitive. There are too many clubs to jump over. Not only do we have to get hot, but we have to hope that no one in front of us gets hot. We can turn this around by retooling the starting rotation from the minors and by trade. Both need to be done. We can't rebuild the staff sufficiently in 2015 without going the trade route.
  2. There has been a certain drumbeat here to trade Pedroia to open up second base for Betts and clear the OF backlog. I am not so sure there is an OF backlog anymore or if there had ever been.
  3. Shaun Marcum is in the Guardians rotation. Where the heck has he been?
  4. I think the season can be salvaged if one of the Pawtucket kids can stay in the rotation and pitch well. Maybe it will be Rodriguez, maybe Johnson. I don't think we can expect 2 of the kids to make the leap and be productive this year. When has that ever happened? If one of the kids helps out and holds down one spot and we make a trade soon for a real top of the rotation guy, I think we can compete. I think the bats will heat up enough to score enough runs. Hanley in LF will continue to frustrate. He is worse than Youk when he played out there briefly one season. Cripes, AGon was better in the OF.
  5. The announcer said that the Red Sox are an upper echelon team with a big payroll and no ace. That's ridiculous. I have to agree. This roster is a huge huge waste of money.
  6. The defense that inning was an embarrassment. They looked like a bad over the hill softball team.
  7. They can't go a whole season with him in LF. He is a train wreck. Heshould have been signed to play 3B, but he'd already signed fatso. He should have passed on Hanley and put the money towards pitching.
  8. by time he is done, Beltre will be in the HOF. I'll never understand letting him walk. He's a durable guy that earns his money.
  9. Phony!! You go to sleep on the West Coast games. Jk. Your fandom and passion cannot be questioned.
  10. We can't get beat by a guy called Chi Chi.
  11. This is a great post. You let it all hang out. We know where you stand, and it is as good an approach as anyone else's. If people want to criticize you for it, screw them.
  12. If Sandoval is 50 lbs lighter, he makes that last play.
  13. As an interim, I don't think it matters much. i haven't thought much about a full time replacement. Spud, you know that I don't have much regard for the whole lot of them. LOL!!
  14. Thanks RSFL for putting a positive spin on it.
  15. Rarely, but it might make them feel like s*** that they cost him his job. They deserve to feel like s*** for the way that they have played, and he deserves to be fired. There's no downsided to firing him.
  16. Who made the threads for those games? We need to have him/her make more threads.
  17. Let's see if we can get a 3 game winning streak. We haven't done that yet.
  18. He should see the season through, but if they are in the same place at the end of the season he has to go, and his career in baseball will be finished. Edit, Farrell should be fired in season if for no other reason than to light a fire under some asses in the clubhouse.
  19. I have 45,000 posts that say otherwise. LOL!! Pathetic.
  20. Time to shake things up. Go Sox!
  21. Excuses excuses. This crapfest that Ben is turning out for the third year in 4 years at the helm is starting to hit them in the pocket books. The have already opened up new subscriptions for season tickets which they have not done in around a decade. They are coming up with new ticket marketing techniques etc. Once the bottom line is affected Ben will be gone very fast. JH and LL know that prolonged terrible performance by a premium franchise can cause lasting financial damage to the franchise.
  22. Whether a deal is great, is decided after the results are in. If Rodriguez was a bust, no one would care much as we only gave up our 7th inning reliever. If he turns out to be good, it is a great deal.
  23. Ben needs to figure out which of these kids is for real with the biggest upside and install him in our rotation. The other one should be packaged in a trade for Cole Hamels. That would get this season back on track and would differentiate us from the rest of the ALE.
