  1. Another day and no rumors about moves to bolster the pitching staff. They are just playing out the schedule hoping that the whole thing doesn't deteriorate into a circus. It looks like the only drama that we will have at TalkSox will be guessing the date that someone open the Offseason/Hot Stove thread. Last years was opened September 24th is my recollection. We can also have a Ben and Farrell countdown -- maybe a contest as to the date they get fired.
  2. i didn't mock anyone in particular so don't take it personally. I am mocking the notion that somehow this staff that Ben built should have been good enough. It was a steaming pile of garbage when it hit the field in Fort Myers and it is fulfilling its destiny. The notion that it was good enough if the hitters hit better and the fielding was better is absurd imo. People can engage in as much wishful thinking, rationalization and denial as they want, but the results are undeniable. The staff is a pile of garbage. It would be even worse but for the fact that Good Buch has made an appearance . We all know that usually doesn't last very long. The rest of them really have very little talent, except for ER who has a lot of promise. The rest of them are DFA candidates. Dillon Gee is better than the rest of the bunch and the Mets DFA'd him.
  3. I the definition of a mediocre staff is a staff with a 4 ERA (which would be a big improvement over the current performance, imp although that would improve the team, it stil would not be competitive. A team 4 ERA doesn't cut it. If that is the definition of mediocre, I think you are mistaken. That is bad.
  4. At least Bradley is up and got a couple of hits. I am not sure if they are showcasing him or giving him a legit shot. Either way, he has to prove that he can hit in the bigs.
  5. You are just hot for her. Admit it.
  6. We score 6 runs and give up 8. The hitting has been there for the month of June and we are still losing. Hey Ben, It's the pitching stupid!
  7. or goo -- either way he is a tub of it.
  8. And when Lackey had a bad arm and was pitching poorly, the problem wasn't his horseface, but it was fun to call him horseface. The same goes for Panda, or as Spud calls him the "tub of gue."
  9. We loaded up on mediocre, but mediocre isn't good enough to be competitive.
  10. Game Time 1:35 Baltimore (37-34) Boston (32-41) Pitching Matchup BAL: Miguel Gonzalez (5-4, 3.33) BOS: Eduardo Rodriguez (3-1, 3.13) Go Sox! Two game threads with wrong dates. My bad. Mods please delete the other thread started today. Thanks.
  11. How long will Pedey be out?
  12. Our pitching is great! What is all this hub bub? Softball leagues all over the country envy our pitching staff. We couldn't have a better staff. Ignore those numbers showing us at the bottom of the heap in ERA. It's a mirage.
  13. Winning is much more fun than losing. Good Buchholz is fun to watch.
  14. Big man can still put a charge into the ball. That was a rifle shot.
  15. We are just starting to hit, and our guys are going down with injuries? Seriously?
  16. WTH are the chances of getting nailed on the wrist by a line drive while on the run?
  17. When we play the Skanks, I am stuck with the Yankee feed. They are less annoying than the O's announcers.
  18. We need to enjoy good Clay while we have him. It is a perishable commodity, but when he is on, he is as good as anyone.
  19. Late game thread. I still care. Buchholz vs. Norris.
  20. israel, this is the best that we could have expected in 2015. Ben did the best job humanly possible. There were no better options available to him. The other GMs were just lucky putting together better team. They couldn't have done any better than Ben.
  21. If we continue to ride with this pitching, we will stay in last place even though our hitting during June has been productive. We are getting a lot more hits and baserunners recently. It's the pitching. There is no talent there. The hitting did slump early, but the hitting is talented, and talent will always come out. Our pitching is a mediocre collection. There is no talent there beyond the kid ER and the good Buchholz -- and he can disappear at any time.
  22. Yes, it was bound to rear it's head sooner or later. It goes hand in hand with the "you can't win the World Series every year" defense.
  23. This is an opinion with no basis in fact.
  24. Napoli is done. He needs to go on the phantom DL. Bring up Craig to see if he can hit.
