  1. and even if they had performed up to expectations, they were two 4s two 4s and an injury prone 3 and that was not going to be good enough, but we have been around this wheel several times.
  2. Just looking to take the temperature of the members on this. We know it depends on a lot of things that we don't know, but if you had to make a bet, what would would b e your guess? Will the Red Sox acquire a front line Starting Pitcher by the Trading Deadline. I will leave the voting open for the weekend.
  3. Ben thinks so. See my signature. Lol!
  4. Infield Grandstand section 16
  5. Yes, I saw ER's game. It was an exciting fun game.
  6. Don't feel bad. Two of my last three game threads had the wrong dates.
  7. And he caught a ton of grief over this, but he was spot on with his assessment.
  8. Yes. Very true, and that is a much more difficult tool to measure than speed, arm strength or power. Nava was not high up on any scouts list as a prospect, except for our very own Doji.
  9. What tools did Daniel Nava have? None. Can't run or throw. He had no power and is a substandard fielder.
  10. Hey U.N., drop dead.
  11. I thought that the people that criticize us old folk are all about stats, because they don't think we can understand the numbers? The numbers are favoring this kid enough for him to get selected to the All zstar game where he won the MVP, but people are pooh poohing him because of his draft position and some scouting evaluations. Am I getting this right? He wouldn't be the first late round draft choice to defy the odds.
  12. I never said that you said this.^ I said that you said they could use some extra pitching even though the pitching is not to blame -- at least not in the month of May.
  13. Did I say that you said those things?
  14. Those Mets pitchers aren't going anywhere. The Mets pitcher that could be had, but at a very hefty price would be Harvey. I have heard that there is friction between Harvey and the organization and that the feeling is that he will not sign long term with them.
  15. You mean the sound explanations that strategy for the roster construction was sound and the execution of the strategy was good and that the whole debacle of a season has come down to one bad month of offense, but they could use some extra pitching even though the pitching is not to blame -- at least not in the month of May. But for the lousy hitting in May, we are playoff bound. That sound rational argument?
  16. I didn't say that Ben whines. I said that his bosses aren't going to want to hear him whine. Ben and Theo always stood up to be accountable -- an admirable character trait. Yet, lots of people whine on their behalf.
  17. His bosses aren't going to want hear him whine about his terrible misfortune. He has an excuse for 2012 another for 2014 and more for 2015. After a while it starts to dawn on people, that he isn't very good at his job.
  18. Sooner or later it ends for everyone. He is clearly not the hitting beast that he was a few years ago, but what he will produce this season will not hurt this team. One day his production will fall off a cliff. I don't think it will be this season, but the FO has a DH on waiting in Hanley.
  19. If Buch could stay healthy and pitch well for the rest of the season, after a hopefully short stint on the DL, they should trade him on the off season. He's not worth it at almost any price because of his complete inconsistency and his injury pronenes. You never can count on the guy for more than half of a season and when he pitched almost an entire season with 28 starts on 2014, he was terrible. He is a major reason for 2013. He jump started our season coming out of the gate at 11-0 and his ERA was microscopic, but you can't roll the dice of fate each season on him and his health.
  20. I shake my head at people who think Ortiz is a problem for this team. He will finish with close to 30 homers and 90 rbi. Guys like that are not the problem. It's the pitching stupid!
  21. I think Ben needs to do something big for the team to escape the cellar again. Also, his job is on the line imo. He needs to escape the cellar if he wants to remain employed in baseball. It will take a couple of pitching moves to make this team a serious contender, but one arm might be enough to lift it from the basement. I don't know if Ben has what it takes to build a staff and I would be shocked if he could rebuild a staff on the fly. We know that he can dismantle a staff. Lol! I am also not sure that he has enoiugh confidence of his management anymore for them to sign off on any big deals.
  22. Cincinnati thought about making him a starter for a while.
  23. We are supposedly interested in Jason Frasor. Should I get excited about this?
