  1. With no pitching. Not amazing at all. Actually, pretty bad.
  2. He had the luxury of the second largest payroll in the league. He didn't need to do a full rebuild.
  3. Ben had me longing for Theo.
  4. We never looked back and longed for Duke, and if the team wins three more Championships in the next 10 years, we will not long for Ben either. We might long for Ben if DD finishes last the next 4 years, but not other than that.
  5. He will likely end up with 10 wins for the team this season. He has earned a spot. It is his to lose in Spring Training.
  6. But it hasn't been helpful. They are a better team without him. They would have been better off handing the 3B job to Holt. The FO gets paid a lot of money and they supposedly have the expertise to make judgements to make the team better, not just crunching some numbers and using that as a basis for moves that "should" make us better. Panda is too fat, not a good thing as he gets older and his deterioration against lefties had already become alarming. Holt was just starting out as a full time player and he was not going to do much worse than Panda and that would have saved over $90 million to spend on pitching. Panda was a terrible move. A. Holt would have been okay there and B. The move became redundant and pointless once Hanley was signed. C. It would have provided $90+ million to spend on pitching where we had a critical need.
  7. His manager LaRussa questioned the move. Plus, Renteria was never a big star.
  8. A team without big horses goes nowhere no matter how good the depth guys are. We need horses.
  9. If Miley stays who goes he squeeze out? There isn't enough room for 2 new starters plus the current crew.
  10. Not in any magnitude that affects the revenue, and certainly not enough to result in panic moves by the FO. Heck, Ben mainly sat on his hands during 3 last place seasons while the team's shortcomings were obvious to a blind man. Heck, the fact that the owners let him finish last twice and go after a third last place finish shows a lot of patience.
  11. Tomorrow for the sweep!
  12. Who has been more consistent. ARod has been in a tailspin. Horseface was better, but he will end up missing more than a month of the season. Ellsbury has been injured and slumping since. McCann has been your steady Eddie.
  13. Yes, I know that you are watching and following the team. I was just poking a little fun at you and demonstrating that a waning interest in TalkSox does not correlate to a decreased interest in the Red Sox. ;-)
  14. Sometimes we like the direction of the conversation and other times we are on the wrong side of the issue, but some one will be here to beat it. Lol! That is TalkSox. I'll be here winning some and losing some, but always interested and usually learning something.
  15. You are one of those fans that the FO overreacts to with big foolish signings because you walk away when the team is going bad.
  16. It will just be a different 5 discussions getting beaten to death in the off season.
  17. Ortiz with number 496 -- number 30 on the season. He is clearly the problem. We would be in first place but for him.
  18. I think it was at a " Fever Pitch" in the quest to win the first Championship. I think that was the attraction for the bandwagon fans. Some viewership was lost after that, but their fan following is solid -- the least of their problems. Edit: Red Sox in the 2014 last place season finished 4th overall in revenue at $370 million behind only the Yankees, Dodgers and Championship Giants. That is up from $357 million in the 2013 Championship season.
  19. You must experience Buyer's Remorse every time you purchase an automobile. Personally, I think I would prefer Greinke.
  20. Nothing is disastrous when you have the resources of the Red Sox. His signing was not helpful to the team.
  21. They are blaming that on Orsillo. Lol! NESN's ratings have been in the toilet for years -- dating before the stretch of last place finishes.
  22. We are at home and playing a team that would finish in the middle of the pack on AAA. The Phillies are terrible.
  23. Yankees lose to the Rays 3-2. Drop back to 1 1/2 in back of the Blue Jays.
  24. Bad acquisition period. Edit: Except for all the Panda merchandise sold that we we share in equalybwith the other 29 teams.
  25. It doesn't matter unless it hits the revenue stream, and it hasn't.
