    With that double play in the top of the 5th inning, Porcello reduced his ERA to 4.99. Maybe he can salvage some dignity and finish with an ERA under 5.

    Castillo looks very comfortable in LF -- good awareness out there -- something that Hanley was incapable of developing.

    RIP Yogi. Thank you for your service during WWII. He was sent to the Normandy beaches in advance of the D-Day invasion to draw enemy fire to find out the location of the machine gun nests. Truly heroic. As for his baseball accomplihments, as a Red Sox fan, I wish he had opted to sell cars instead of playing baseball when he returned from the war. No one will ever beat his record of 10 rings.

    I don't get all the cooing over a guy with a .680 OPS. I think he is a nice ballplayer -- a good hitter and catcher, but this isn't Johnny Bench. If he can headline a package that will get us a top of the rotation pitcher, I would do it in a heartbeat/. Unfortunately, the Mets don't need catchers. They would want Betts or Bogaerts for Harvey. Ron Darling, Mets announcer today said in an interview that the relationship between Harvey and the Mets FO is probably irreparable.

    Rocco Baldelli is coaching first base for the Rays, but he can only go 6 or 7 innings tonight, because he coached last night.

    Very nice game by Rich Hill. Too bad about all the injuries in his career. He is 35 years old and has thrown more than 50 innings once since 2008. He is not going to be a contributor next season as a starter.

    I have not siad that there would be no interest in him. I said that if he can't land a GM gig this year with all of the openings, that would be very telling. If a 41 year old in the baseball business passes up employment to take a year off to relax, that imo would be a mistake and yes, a stupid mistake.

    I think the whole Hanley at first base is a red herring. Reports are that he has been taking BP for a week and that his shoulder is not a problem with his throwing. They say that he will not be activated until he can play on both sides of the ball. If his shoulder is healthy and he can throw, what is the issue with getting him on the field? How much prep does he need to give it a go? I suspect that there is something more here that is not being reported.

    I think Betts is a terrific ballplayer. Bradley and Castillo look like good ballplayers too, but to load up a team with little guys is a questionable strategy imo, especially since we don't have any major power sticks around the IF.

    I disagree that his bat plays anywhere. He needs to have some minimum level of proficiency. It is no accident that the team is playing much better with him on the sidelines. His fielding wrecked game after game.
