Ah, but I spotted him as a problem on a play that he was 100+ feet away from the play. Lol! No one would have seen it on TV and few people at the game picked up on it.
Edit: By the time I saw him making or should I say butchering plays, it was pretty comical.
i have nothing against Theo. He made some bold moves in 2004 which were just what that team needed. I never thought he was a very good negotiator when it came to giving out contracts as he tended to overpay. He's not our GM anymore so he means nothing to me. He's not even in charge of a team in our league. He's irrelevant as far as I am concerned. The only reason I even know his name is because he used to be our GM. I couldn't name the GM of any other team in that division.
Hanley had a chance to showcase himself at first base this season and earn a spot with the team next season. Reports are that he has been swinging and throwing pain free for a while, but that he wasn't comfortable enough at first base to play in games. I guess that he was afraid of embarrassing himself. That's surprising as he didn't seem to mind looking like a clown in LF. Could he have looked worse at first base? His reluctance/refusal to play first base this season has probably guaranteed that he will be gone by next season. There is no way that DD opens camp in 2016 with a defensive experiment with Hanley. He will not risk the failure and embarrassment that in large part cost Ben his job. It just isn't going to happen. The only chance of Hanley being on the 2016 Red Sox is if they move Pablo and Hanley plays 3B. I think that is a very remote possibility as diving for balls at 3B would likely put him on the DL with his chronically bad shoulder. The Hanley deal may be the worst signing by a Red Sox GM in my memory.
The altercation was the only interesting thing in the Nats September. Papa is one big guy with a crazy look. I always thought that his crazy look on the mound served him well. Crazy is good for a closer. Do you remember the Mad Hungarian!
