  1. What don't you like about EE? He's not Ortiz, but he does have some consistently excellent numbers.
  2. To accuse a Red Sox fan of 50 years who didn't see a Championship until age 45 of engaging in instant gratification is just preposterous. Let's just say that DD will have a challenge to restock the farm, but we don't know how these moves will affect the future and whether the future is on a downward trajectory, there is no certainty in that regard, because we don't know what DD will do to restock the farm. There is a challenge for him in this regard, but he has time. What we do know for certain is that the 2017 team is stocked with talent which we will be able to enjoy in about 3 months. That is not instant gratification. It is just the present.
  3. That does not represent short sightedness nor a culture of instant gratification. I didn't say that there was no understanding on my part that the farm system has been weakened or that future teams could be weakened. I just don't let those worries ruin my enjoyment of the present especially when the present is so bright, and I have no control over any of it.
  4. I didn't say the words you were putting in my mouth about short-sightedness and a culture of instant gratification. I said the following: In other words, when I am having a lot of fun at a party, I am not worrying about the work involved in the cleanup. But I still have to clean up. So I am not shortsighted, nor is their a culture of instant gratification. I have been a fan for 50 years. The good times don't come that often, so I don't think about the crash afterward, because there is absolutely nothing that I can do about it and your worrying won't do any good either.
  5. You have attributed to me a mentality to which I never said that I ascribed. In other words, you are putting words in my mouth. I don't let worries about the future ruin enjoyment of a present with very bright possibilities.
  6. This is overly dramatic.
  7. You have been complaining since the Kimbrel trade when we still had many blue chippers in the system. It just seems like you don't like spending prospects.
  8. And going exclusively with your farm never results in winning anything.
  9. The longer that EE remains unsigned the greater I think are the chances of DD signing him, and that would be fantastic.
  10. It was also a season where he was so bad that he was relegated to the bull pen.
  11. Clay get injured? What are the chances?
  12. Exactly. We have a team full of young stars in their primes or approaching their primes. Why are people looking forward with angst to 2020 and beyond. I just can't grasp that mentality.
  13. Buch at the back of the rotation doesn't bother me. If he has a hot half season he can help propel us to the head of the Division, but he bothered me in years when he was slotted in the first 3 slots, because he will leave a big hole in the rotation when he gets to 80 or 90 innings.
  14. And they still had 86 wins and their team was old, banged up, and under performing.
  15. What about Uribe as RH in a platoon?
  16. I can see it in the case of the Yankees. They have a number of pieces that they need to be atop contender, but the 2 lock down guys at the end of the game should get them to .500 which is important to keep the fans coming out. I am a firm believer that no big market team should be putting out a 90 -100 loss team even in rebuilding years. The Yanks pen should keep them at .500 or better while rebuilding.
  17. LOL!! That's funny.
  18. There is never a shortage of prospects. If you have good scouts, there should be no problem with restocking. Major league top line starting pitching is the rarest of commodities.
  19. I don't think Chapman is a bad signing. They have the $. And they can probably get some good prospects for him from Theo in a couple or 3 years.
  20. There is more fertilizer on the farm than anything else. He'll just need to get some fresh s*** to pile around the few plants that take hold.
  21. Some people are Just humorless
  22. Yep. There isn't any downside risk to their roster by acquiring him. None.
  23. Winning a Division is not nothing. 3 Division titles since 2002 and 3 last place finishes (all Ben), and winning a Division is a heck of a lot more fun than finishing last. Bobby Cox made it to the Hall winning Divisions-- only 1World Championship.
  24. He has won a Division. This ownership group has won only 3 of those since 2002
  25. Thank you.
