    Guardians to sign Encarnacion for 3 years $65 million. Good addition for the Guardians. With their pitching staff, they will be tough to beat.

    The stories that I read indicated that DD was pushng Buch, but the other GMs were interested in Pom. Last year, there were also no takers for Buch. The Mariners declined on Buch and went for Miley.

    His career was a very frustrating disappointment. He had such great stuff, and he knew how to pitch. Early in his career, he had an unhittable changeup, and his ceiling was so high. I really expected such great things for him. I was at his debut at fenway -- a Day game as part of a Day/Night Double Header against the Angels. There was so much hoopla around him that the Red Sox handed out a special scorecard type of flyer that day. I think that I still have that stored somewhere.

    You almost sound disappointed. Don't worry. I have it on good authority that it will be a real s*** show in 2021.

    I am still hopeful that it gets done. If DD wants the guy, he will get him. He always seems to get his man.

    Earlier today, I listened to John Farrell on the "Whatever It Takes" podcast from 12/16. He was asked if he thought that there was still a possibility that we will add another bat. Farrell had a long pause and then said that there probably would have to be some other moves before that could happen. He said that he thought something could happen as some of the FA hitters found landing spots if we could upgrade. He then went onto say that he didn't think there was a big chance that we would add a big middle of the order bat. Buch is looking to me like the move that had to be made to add a bat.

    I took a blind taste test of vodkas a few years ago at my local liquor store. I was certain that I could ID Grey Goose, my vodka of choice. It was tested with Ketel One, Stoli and Absolut. I was certain that I made the right pick. Wrong. I picked the Absolut. That saved me some money as that is now my House Vodka.

    LOL! He also mentioned that he was more of a contact pitcher when he was with the Tigers and that he throws more 4 seamers now and fewer sinkers.

    Farrell would have done better picking a fan from the stands to run the bases that night. Wright looked like he had never run the bases in his life. Oh, wait.... he hadn't run the bases since high school.

    I would never trade an every day superstar in his prime for a pitcher, but that is just me.

    I am sold. We should trademark it and share the royalties.

    I could see putting the stronger arm in RF, but I still think that Bradley is the superior defender. While Betts has worked to improve his throwing, it doesn't compare to Bradley's arm.
