I don't think there would have been any restriction on Benny Boy from getting a top 5 starting pitcher (age 27) on a well-below market 3 year contract. That would have been a stupid restriction. DD gets these deals done. Cherries never made a bold acquisition in a trade. That would not be Benny Boy, who prefers to hoard prospects.

DD gets it done. He doesn't pussy foot around. He gets top shelf guys for us to watch, and people complain. I guess they prefer running out to the mound the Mileys, Kellys, Mastersons, Dubronts, Dempsters, and Aaron Cooks to Price and Sale. This is the best 1-2 punch since Pedro and Schilling in 2004, and with Porcello, it is the best 1-2-3 punch in my long memory. And people are unhappy about 2020?

But then you wouldn't get him. This is a top 5 pitcher at age 27 who makes around what Buchholz makes and we have him for 3 seasons. He wasn't going to be had for some lottery tickets. It was going to take a bue chip can't miss player in return.

He also would not have needed to sign Price, because we would still have Lester, but for Bumbling Ben.

Moreland will be a good fit, but I guess that EE has been ruled out.

DD is not the type to show his hand to the Press. If Koji stays unsigned and the price is right, I would not be surprised if DD signed Koji again.

DD is a wheeler dealer. He doesn't go for some half baked player. He goes for and gets the top stud. Benny Boy never pulls the trigger on a trade like this... never.
