  1. I would prefer to move on from JD and take a shot at one year of Machado and go after Harper or Machado next season. I just don’t trust a long term deal with a guy who has played 1 full season— every other year he tops out at 120 games. $30 million a year for a guy playing 120 games a year is like paying $37.5 million for a guy that plays 150 games.
  2. I remember Minky making a double play in his first inning of a double header when he started at 2B.
  3. That's what I would have liked to happen, but DD boxed himself in resigning Moreland for 2 years. Can DD trade Moreland?
  4. Advanced defensive metrics had AGon as a better fielder than Dewey Evans. LOL!!
  5. That was a beautiful thing.
  6. Yankee fans are good losers, but obnoxious winners. Red Sox fans, generally are the opposite. We need to change that and really turn up the obnoxious attitude when we win. Otherwise, the Yankee fans always get the better of us.
  7. LOL!! Moon would have to come back under a fake account.
  8. Add a prospect -- maybe Groome or something less.
  9. DD has boxed himself in a bit by resigning Moreland.
  10. You might be able to buy Extra Innings a la charge on your cable package.
  11. Yes, 6/$150 million is also an overpay, especiallyvin light of the fact that we could have had Encarnacion for a mere fraction of that last year. At 6/$150, I would be tempted to get Machado for one year before the Yankees swoop in for him. Then next off-season they could make the big push to re-sign Machado or sign Harper or just raise another WS banner.
  12. This would piss me off:
  13. Kimmi, you noted that I didn't answer your question, and on that you were right. http://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/18463-2017-18-Hot-Stove-Thread?p=1114734&viewfull=1#post1114734 Edit: Sowho is backtracking, Kimmi?
  14. Hitch, I think you are having a cognitive glitch. I deliberately didn't answer Kimmi's question. If I thought 7/$210 was a good idea, I'd have no problem stating that, but I don't so I haven't.
  15. Oh, I see a second stab at explaining your incorrect post. Me saying that it is irrational not to add a big bat in a window period does not equate to adding a big bat at a ridiculously high cost. That is a false choice. JD may be the only big bat left on free agency, but there are other possibilities. DD could revisit getting Machado (maybe only for one year). He could also see if he could swing a deal for someone else. ^This is faulty logic. Your original post had 2 premises, both which were incorrect. We have discussed only one — whether anyone proposed or supported a 7/$210 million deal. No one has and your attempts to explain your statement have not established anything. The other incorrect premise is that the same nonexistent people who supported 7/$210 also complained about existing large contracts. That is also not true. No one has complained about the size of those contracts, but rather the poor judgment regarding the talent that they signed to those contracts. Several of those guys have been completely worthless. Bother premises in your accusatory post were erroneous rendering your post worthless except to be argumentative. And I am not pulling back on any point. Status quo in a window period is irrational. Moon has said that he agrees and he also doesn’t like $7/210 million.
  16. Is that a porn website? We could have trademark infringement by Hitch.
  17. And I pointed out why your explanation was incorrect too.
  18. Defend your own completely erroneous post first. Or just own that it was wrong.
  19. Vasquez is the superior defender. He showed solid offensive performance and yes more years. Miami is in a full rebuild mode. More controllable years is a good thing. Plus, Reamilto wants out. Maybe sweeten the pot with an A ball prospect.
  20. None at all. LOL!
  21. I clicked for confirmation. It was easier than going to an independent site.
  22. Yet, they managed to sign some smaller deals that were completely unmovable— Pablo (ate the whole thing), Rusney (eating the whole thing with no chance of unloading), Craig (ate the whole thing even though it wasn’t our signing). Who would get more interest from among Hanley, Porcello and Price? That is a tough one. Porcello is coming off a horrendous season and 2 horrendous seasons sandwiching a Cy Young season. Hanley had a bad season and had surgery. Price is coming off an injury plagued season. I would say that Porcello would get more interest as of today because he is healthy, his contract is smaller than Price’s and only 3 years are left on it. I didn’t bring up Porcello’s name as an example of an immovable contract, but if you added his contract to the unmovable and other underperforming contracts and it would have paid for both Scherzer and Lester. That would have been the smarter money. Finally, is it your opinion that Price’s contract is unmovable?
  23. What about Vasquez for Reamulto straight up?
