  1. He's in Mass General, the Cadillac of Hospitals and he has seen three leading experts in the field. He will get surgery on Tuesday. If they are waiting until Tuesday, he is not in any imminent danger of a bleed out.
  2. I know someone who had one of these suckers that burst and she was brain dead very quickly. She got a really bad headache and within minutes she collapsed. He is very lucky that they found this, and hopefully, it is not near his brain stem. If it is, from what I have read, he's f***ed. Let's hope the surgery goes well and that the Doc is not a demented Yankee fan like Jacko.
  3. This sounds really bad.
  4. A friend of mine at work told me that when his parent bought a Japanese brand TV when he was a kid that he was embarrassed to have his friends see it.
  5. Tug Hulett is leading the Sox in RBI this Spring. lol!!!
  6. Lol! My dad (age 91 and going strong) was stationed in the South Pacific for 3 years during WWII. He had a deferment because he had a manufacturing job for military goods, but he gave up the deferment and enlisted because 3 of his 4 brothers had been drafted. When I bought my first Japanese car in 2004, he didn't say anything much, but I could tell that he wasn't happy about it. Dice K is looking to be the second most unreliable Japanese import next to the Toyotas.
  7. The opening day line up managed 0 runs today against the Pirates.
  8. Radio announcers are saying that he shut it down after 3 pitches. They called it "ominous". Are they overstating the case? I don't know. Their words , not mine.
  9. Another set back for Dice K. http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/red_sox/
  10. You should go heckle them. There are very few hecklers at Spring Training. Are you there on business?
  11. Optimist only posts to gloat. Jacko is here throughout and takes as good as he dishes. I love the Jacko-bashfests, because he is such a homer Yankee fan, but he should get his due. He is the second best Yankee fan poster on the site.
  12. Will he be in the starting rotation when the team goes north? Wakefield has yet to give up a run, and he is the incumbent. I would prefer that Wakefield not be in the rotation, but if he keeps up the current pace, he will keep his job. They are not going to a 6 man rotation. Maybe Spud could run Wakefield down with his car and knock him out of the rotation. I don't want him dead, just winged like Spud did to Nomar years back,
  13. He was streaky. When he was hot, he looked like a batting champ, with good power. When the hot streak ended, he'd go so cold that he looked like he'd been struck blind. He would go through a couple of weeks without making any solid contact. He'd go for a week or two striking out on three pitches. He'd take the first one down the middle and then swing at two balls out of the zone. Then, all of a sudden, he'd become an incredibly tough out, and in the end he'dfinish with the exact same numbers each year whhich gave the erroneous impression that he was a consistent hitter.
  14. Yes Jackson,Nomar did this as a ploy to sell more Nomar #5 jerseys. You've got to be kidding
  15. The story about his brother hit the newswires either at the beginning of the 2009 season or right before it started. I thought something like that had the potential for causing problems for him, and then his wife had the troublesome pregnancy. It could have had a negative impact on his performance. He did not have one of those hot streaks last season that he had in the prior two seasons. When he gets hot like that, he is impossible to get out.
  16. You love the Cards even in Spring Training.
  17. He did look poised for 20, and his stuff was good for a kid at his stage of development, but it didn't make me sit up and take notice. He might develop into an excellent major leaguer, but it was not like seeing Clemens for the first time. He's not that kind of special. . . at least not yet.
  18. Why are you commenting in this thread when you are not participating in the league?
  19. Yesterday, the play by play announcing of the game left a lot to be desired. There were lots of interviews conducted during the game. I don't remember the announcers calling attention to any curve balls by Kelly, and I didn't notice whether he threw any. On the other hand, Bonser threw a couple of filthy breaking pitches that were noticeable for the TV viewer and of which the announcers took note.
  20. I got a phone call during his outing, and was distracted. I don't remember his curve. I just noticed that he didn't seem particularly overpowering. He pitched well, but there wasn't anything eye-opening about it.
  21. He threw okay. He was hitting 93 at times. It was not reminiscent of seeing Clemens in his first spring.
