    Shoppach hit two bombs yesterday.

    Bonser looked like a post surgical pitcher today. He had nothing on his fastball. He was afraid to throw it and rightly so. His offspeed stuff was good and getting him some strikeouts. He got hit very hard. Tazawa really got blasted all over the ball park. Cameron had a good day against Shields. I didn't know that Hank Blalock signed with Tampa. He's a nice pickup. He hit the ball hard today (Boston didn't throw any of the major league roster guys) including a long HR.

    I think we should just leave this to Vinny Scully who has seen more than several lifetimes of games and who has had access to every imaginable statistic for over 50 years.

    Most of us are even less expert in the use of statistics. We can quote them, but we don't know the significance or the weight placed on certain stats by a particular baseball organization. If your argument is that we as fans know more about stats than we do about what we are watching, I think you are making a losing argument.

    On the Red Sox radio broadcast, they just said that the malformation is near his brain stem. From what I have read, this is very bad. Jacko, please weigh in.

    That's why they have these games. Players need to get their timing. He'll be fine. The WBC screwed up his prep last year. He needs to be in the lineup every day and get his 3 ABs. By opening day, he'll be fine.

    By the time I get down there on Saturday, all the top prospects will be gone. I usually like to go down to Ft. Myers for the first or second week. I really wanted to see Lars. Last year he looked totally over-matched and confused. I was hoping to see some signs of progress. His stats sucked this spring, but that doesn't mean that he hasn't made progress.
