  1. Cameron sucks, so it doesn't matter.
  2. By the Trading Dealine it should be completely obvious one way or the other.
  3. When I see that our 4th OFer is a discard fro mthe marlins and that our second lefty in the pen is Met reject, Scott Schoenweiss, I have serious concerns about the team. Those guys should not be showing up on the Red Sox opening day roster.
  4. Are fans over-reacting? Yes. This is a good team. I believe that it is poorly constructed, but it is strong enough in all aspects to be a contender. What has me pissed off is not the slow cold start, but the fact that they are giving away games through bad fundamentals and bad defense. That is inexcusable. They gave away two games this weekend to the Rays. Those games could decide the final playoff spot. That's just inexcusable, and that is not an over-reaction.
  5. This team is very poorly constructed other than strong starting pitching. There is no team speed outside of one guy. When Ortiz, VMart and Lowell are in the lineup, they have the speed of an over 40 softball team. Their team defense is average at best. The pathetic catching situation and the regular E-6 from Scutaro offset the rest of the defense. We have no scary big boppers in the middle of the lineup that will make the other guys better resulting in big run production. The bullpen is average, at best, with only 3 reliable arms. This goes a long way toward negating the strength of the starting pitching. If these short tenured guys like Beltre and Cameron are supposed to be a bridge to the future, would someone fill me in on the studs who are expected to arrive here in 2012.
  6. It just worked out that way. I can't claim that i planned any of it, not even the baseball strike. (BTW it was the 1981 strike). On my 25th wedding anniversary, I pitched for my softball team. The wife was pissed, but the other pitcher was out of town. We lost 4-3 and our tying run got thrown out at the plate in a situation like Friday night. It was a loser all the way around for me. I sent very nice flowers though.
  7. I went to the game so I heard none of the pre-game. Today's players are ridiculous with having their kids during the season. My kids were born October 30th and February 12th, and I got married during the baseball strike. They are very careless about their profession.
  8. I understand that the pitchers do not hold runners on, but Varitek takes for ever to release the ball, and VMart's arm makes Piazza look like Johnny Bench.
  9. Right now, I am in second-guessing mode. After the game, I will be whining. I am not used to making the trip here to see three losses in a row. More second guessing from me. We were talking before the start of the suspended game last night. Some of us would have gone to Papelbon at the start and then Bard for two innings. The game would have had to go 13 innings for MDC to get a chance to blow the game.
  10. Lowell's taller. He would have been looking at the ball from a different angle.
  11. If the team does not lose faith in Ortiz and cut him,he will lead this team in HRs and RBI by the end of the season. As for Gonzo, who on god's green earth do we have that we could use to get him?
  12. When he returns, what will the rotation be? I hate to say, but Wake has earned the spot. Dice K would not be effective out of the pen considering his high whip, and I'm not sure that Buccholz would be effective in the pen. I think we are out of options on Buccholz, so he can't be sent down.We could use a good long man in the pen.
  13. This isa terrible lineup. Just terrible. We have to hope that Varitek stays hot. Ortiz is sitting just when he has been putting some good ABs together. He has hade Xtra base hits in the last two games. Youk should be moving across the diamond to play 3B with Vmart playing first. Drew is swinging terrible, but he'll be protecting Youk and the flailing beltre will be batting 6th. Lowell had two knock last night, but he is sitting too. I expect more errors and no offense today. This is not shaping up very well. We are not even treading water at home.
  14. I was at this debacle last night. It was the worst two losses that I have seen in person in a long time, and I can't remember the last time that I saw two outcomes for one admission. They gave away game one with the Scutaro error and Beltre losing the ground ball in the lights. Game two was lost by Cameron dropping the third out in the first inning leading to 4 unearned runs. Could Buccholz have picked up his fielder there? Yes, but the Cameron is a gold glover. For good measure, Scutaro made another error leading to a 5th unearned run. Scutaro is making a ton of errors. This really hurt because they gave away both games. The culprits were the new guys, Scutaro, Cameron and Beltre. Buchholz worked excruciatingly slowly in the first inning. The results were three walks and two hits. After the first inning, he quickened his pace and did much better. Pacing was a problem that Lester had had before he turned the corner. He would agonize over each pitch. Buccholz needs to get the ball take the catchers sign and throw it to the location. His stuff will do the rest. The first half inning took about 1/2 hour. He needs to change his approach. I think he'll be okay, but when I see him, I still get aggravated that we could have traded him for Halladay. Ortiz's bat speed is still there. His pitch recognition and timing is off just a bit. He will hit. I can't say the same about Drew's bat speed. He looks just plain awful. If you are more worried about Ortiz than Drew, O-Dawg says you are a racist. No one was going to hit the ball out to RF or CF last night with that miserable weather. Hermida came the closest. He had several good swings last night. He's a good 4th OF. It's our starting three OFers that are not so great. Getting Beltre was a giant cluster f***. We have 4 guys that can play 1st and 3 guys that can play 3rd. There is a tremendous logjam, and Beltre is the worst offensive player of the 4 players. Lowell is moving well. He's never been fast, but he is covering more ground in the field than last season, and he has always had great hands and throwing arm. We needed a top right handed OFer, not a free swinging 3B whose one power year came from a needle. BTW, who are these short term solutions like Beltre, and Cameron and Scutaro bridging us to? Who are the big studs that will be coming up fromthe farm in a couple of years. I just don't see it. Finally, I hate that prick Joe Maddon. We made him look smart last night when he did that 6 IF BS. He is not smart.
  15. What a sicko!! http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/police-man-purposely-vomited-on-off-duty-officer-and-daughter-at-phillies-game-041610
  16. Do you believe this? The weather is not going to get any better. I don't think there will be anymore baseball tonight. What is the rule if they don't continue tonight? Do they replay the entire game?
  17. The 180th stolen base against the Red Sox in the first two weeks of the season.
  18. The hanging splitter to Pena scared the hell out of me.
