  1. What year does the new facility open?
  2. That may be obvious to you, but since the post you were responding to didn't mention Nixon or compare Drew to Nixon and since Nixon is out of baseball, he is irrelevant to the conversation. Nixon is not and has not been for some time a RF option for anyone. If the discussion regards Drew's worth to the team that would be relative to his current teammates and other current major league Ofers. Should we compare him to Dewey Evans too?
  3. Why are you bringing up Nixon? Crunchy didn't mention hi, and as far as I know, he isn't even on a MLB roster. Don't you think that he is a bit irrelevant to a discussion about Drew?
  4. ... and he'll want 4 years/$60 + million to resign. These statements about where players want to play/end their career mean nothing to me. It's a business. They go where the $ is. Statements like this are just pablum for the fans.
  5. Cliff Lee has only had one bad season. He's been pretty good to great the rest of the time.
  6. He'd also smoke in the dugout (a MLB violation) during BP.
  7. He was a bona fide Yankee-killer and that is one of the big reasons why the fans liked him. Edit: Moret was also a Yankee-killer back in those days.
  8. Yaz would get a rub down before the game, tape it for the game, and ice it after the game. I can't get used to these prima donas who have to feel perfect to play. No offense to your guy, Dipre. He's just a reflection of today's players.
  9. I'm not sure what you are talking about here. Please elaborate.
  10. J. Edgar Hoover?
  11. I just don't see there being room to give Lowell any significant playing time. Beltre and Ortiz will freak out if Lowell takes their playing time. They are both in walk years. Youk is not going to get sat down. I just don't see it working out with Lowell.
  12. Welcome back, and good luck.
  13. I screwed up putting in a poll. The choices would have been: 1. Comes north with the team as part of the bench. 2. Gets traded for someone who doesn't come north with the Sox. 3. He gets DFA's 4. He wins the job from Beltre.
  14. I think he gets DFA'd, because the rest of the league knows that we have no room for him.
  15. I'll just shut up and submit the written record for consideration.... assuming that you don't continue editing your posts after this post.
  16. That about sums it up.
  17. I can't quote something that you edit out of a post.
  18. ...and I conceded the factual point, but it had nothing to do with the the point I was trying to convey. It was not pertinent. Cut your losses.
  19. It's called context.
  20. I'd have used this post which you have edited to eliminate your statement that he was injured in 3 of his last 4 years with the Red Sox and that is why they let him go.
  21. The point of my post that started all of this was that an early shoulder injury did not prevent Clemens from being a reliable starter -- a horse. In order to prove me wrong, you'd have to prove to me that he wasn't a horse.
  22. In 1990, he pitched 228 innings, won 21 games, led the league with a 1.93 ERA (the 2nd lowest of his 24 year career), and he finished 2nd in the Cy Young voting. Yes, I guess you were right that he fell victim to a bum shoulder that season.
