As a mental health professional, isn't it true that anxiety problems can be managed and often the problems do not recur in a debilitating way. Other times, it does recur but can be managed with medication and therapy to keep a person productive in their lives and careers. The fact that Greinke had a severe or acute bout of anxiety earlier in his life does not mean that he is weak mentally or that he is more susceptible to a debilitating experience with anxiety disorder.
And you were wrong about Gio. I don't think the guys traded for him presented a prohibitive price. Gio signed a very reasonable contract extension. He's not making much more money than Bobby Jenks. I thought he was pretty good, but after seeing him at Fenway this season, I realized that i too had underestimated him. I think he will improve over the next several seasons, and he is pretty damn good already. He throws harder than I had thought.
