  1. Thome can still hit the long ball at a very good rate.
  2. Baseball is my #1 sport. Nothing comes close for me. i think baseball players are probably the most highly skilled players of any sport. However, I have seen the sport change. One of the changes is that players expect to be fully healed before they return to play. Almost every season there is a key QB or RB that slaps on a flak jacket and plays half a season with broken ribs. The difference in my opinion is that the NFL players don't have guaranteed contracts. The broken ribs are just as painful for them and the NFL is even more physically demanding than MLB.
  3. I would not go to a 6 man rotation. That would change the way they are conditioned. If 1 of the 6 gets injured and they have to go back to 4 days rest, they would all suffer.
  4. The things we do for the women we love.
  5. Sometimes guys get injured because they play recklessly, not because they are made of glass. it takes them too long coming back, because of their agents and the amount of money invested in the players has resulted in them becoming girlie men. I don't limit this to Ellsbury. It is the state of baseball today. A bunch of girlie men.
  6. Multiple concussions? He's had two -- from running head first into fences and walls. Also, Bay did average over 150 games per year for 6 years straight before going to the Mets. He and Ellsbury are now oft-injured players. Until they get their asses on the field and play some full seasons. That is an apt description.
  7. I wonder if NESN has signed his daughter for the remainder of the season to do player interviews? DMac probably passes thru waivers and gets reassigned to Pawtucket. We have probably not seen the last of him.
  8. I don't know if it was a racist remark, but it was certainly inaccurate. I read that his father's side of the family is drunken Irish and his mom's side of the family are cheap jews.
  9. With the emergence of Morales and now Cook, Cherries isn't going to do a thing.
  10. I don't think a single poster has tried to discredit his record... not a single one.
  11. Unitas would have stared at Brady and after he stammered and pissed himself, he would have passed out. Comparing that girlie man to Johnny U is laughable.
  12. An evil spirit must have invaded my keyboard. I don't think that was me.
  13. Brady is Football's Derek Jeter-- over-exposed, adored and revered by the press, and over rated.
  14. Not only weren't their careers over, but because they are such pampered prisses, their sitting out and getting daily massages and therapy has kept the career of DMac alive and well, and they also helped extend Marlon Byrd's career. I'm grateful for that. Aren't you? Edit: Yaz would have played, and those two bums would have had to pack their crap and go pump gas somewhere. No one should have to pay hard earned money to see either of those bums play.
  15. That's better. I don't single out Theo. I have a uniform disdain for all FO personnel.
  16. You mean getting this guy to be a lefty specialist with no thought to him being a starter was a great Theo move? This would be like giving the GM credit for the field coach figuring out that the team mascot mule could kick field goals.
  17. I just noticed that Mark Prior is on the 7 DL in Pawtucket. What a shocker!!!
